Double D (D.D.)…. “the kid is alright”

I would like to see him lead Canada at the WJC!!
Even though it did not lead Commrie to great heights …

Goalies are Voodoo!

Yes, having something promising in the pipeline is certainly encouraging...but we need to be throwing a few more darts at this position.
Yup, I like the draft a goalie in the mid to late rounds every second year at minimum strategy. Was also happy with the Milic selection last draft. Promising overager vs someone even further out.

Speaking of Milic, why isn't he signed????
He's listed on the Young Stars roster.

We usually draft a goalie per draft. The only years we didn't were 2014 and 2015, when we had Hellebuyck on the rise in the pipeline and Comrie just drafted in the second round, and 2020 and 2021 when we had 8 total draft picks in two drafts. I think the proportion of our draft picks going to goalies is reasonable, we just don't have anywhere near enough draft picks for a team that hasn't been a contender in years.

:dunno:
Could be due to the Jets being close to player contract maximum and them playing it safe. I figured once Norfolk ECHL agreement was announced we'd hear something shortly after.

43 out of 50 is not that close.

This would not be odd if he were not already an overager who needs a place to play.

Hillier On Milic:
“He’s just one of those kids I’ve got the feeling he’s just not going to be denied… he’s one of those kids that’s just had success after success. Won the World Junior. Almost won the Memorial Cup. His stats are off the charts”. He added that Milic will “turn pro right away.”"

I know we all want to hear more about the pre-young stars tournament practices etc.
Are none of our usual posters at these practices anymore? Are they keeping them under wraps? Have they even practiced? One would think so, but perhaps not…

Or maybe there’s nothing else worth reporting.

They very well could just be waiting until the start of the youngstars camp to announce it. Sort of like what they did with DD and rookie camp.

Why sign him to a contract now!

We have 2 years to sign him to a contract after drafting him this year.

If we sign him to a NHL contract now…. that’s minimum 3 year commitment of $240k. 3 years of $80 k minor league salary ( that’s without any signing bonus$

He’s coming into TC to earn a contract.

The contract he earns may only be a 1 year $80k AHL deal.

Goalies are voodoo

Drafting him in the 5 th round this year was just a throw of the dart /a dark horse pick / an opportunity for him.

We may cut bait and let him loose after TC

This is not Charity…. Let’s see what the kid can do against men. (He’s only 6 ft goalie…. His size may limit his ceiling.)

Devon Levi is also 6'.
DiVincentiis has been signed and he has to go back to Jr for another year.

Dustin Wolf as well, who has been named the top goaltender in his league for 4 years running (2 WHL and 2 AHL).

Height matters less and less the closer you get to the net, where the majority of goals are scored. Long shots have more room to go in but there's more time to react. Past success predicts future success for goalies a lot more than height does.
