He’s the GM of the ICE. I’m still salty he was too busy playing cribbage instead of improving his team at the deadline

What do you think you guys needed more? More back end help? More front end depth? Ostpachuk kind of disappeared on yOu guys a bit in the finale, but so did guys like Geekie/Savoie. But the great thing was you guys had others step up like Lattimer.

Not to derail the prospects thread, but defence. Zellweger would’ve been a huge addition, and better than Ostapchuk. Also Seattle loaded up while Cockell dicked around and did jackshit just a year after the same thing happened with Edmonton. Clearly didn’t learn from his mistakes.

Winnipeg Jets draft pick Domenic DiVincentiis was selected as a member of the CHL All-Star teams this past week.

DiVincentiis made the CHL Second Team All-Stars

Good stuff. Really like Dom and looking forward to seeing him take the next steps. I know goalies are voodoo, but he seems to have the skillset and the temperament to make it happen.

Congratulations to Quebec for total domination of the Memorial Cup from game 1 until the cup final.

Sorry to our new friend @superdeluxe this wasn’t the T Birds best hockey but they had a great season and came in runner up to the best Junior team in Canada.

Thanks guys! Yeah, the memcup final definitely left a bitter taste in my mouth, But I was able to watch the Ed Chenyowth cup get raised in person in our barn. Will be rooting for Lambert on his next adventure <3. Unless you guys decide to send him back to us :)

I wouldn't rule out another year of Jr for Brad. He is very good at that level but he still has maturing and learning to do. It might depend on how hard he works this off-season.

I doubt the Jets send him back for an overage year. They have never done it with a high level prospect.

Probably not. But he is still only 19 entering next season. It will be his D+2. D+2 in Jr is pretty common.

I *expect* him to be in the AHL. I'm just saying that the possibilities are still open. It depends on how much he has improved in 1 year. He was not ready for the AHL last year.

Do you mean AHL? I doubt he's ready for the NHL.

Name an advantage Winnipeg has over Florida?
We have deer roaming around our front yards...

Awe, isn't Daisy cute...:sarcasm:

Thanks for this -- I've seen almost nothing of Salmo but plenty of encouraging chatter about this kid, and I have a couple of work trips to Sweden next year so may try to catch a game if I can.

Based on that, a playoff run of Andrew Copp is on track to return a potential 1C in lambert, 1 RHD in Salomonsson, and solid middle 6 wing in Barron. Could go down as one of the best trades of all time for the Jets if these guys continue their trajectories

Absolutely. Was just thinking that round these parts we remember the Kane and Trouba trades as big wins while the Copp trade is becoming the stealth blockbuster to end all stealth blockbusters.

Even if Lambo hits only as a high-2nd liner we have a riser in Barron, potential top 4 RHD in Salmo and zone entry monster Ehlers-lite in Big Bad B. That's some haul for several months of a great middle-sixer who was leaving anyway.

The stars aligned when we waved fare thee well to The Copper.

Salmo(will now be known as this) was once thought of to be a 1st round pick. He has a bit of everything you want in a modern day defender. Skates well, moves the puck well, thinks the game well and has a good accurate shot. Not sure if he will blow you away with anything but I think he will be a top 4 guy with us some day

Salmo and Lambert are potentially 2 huge steals. Both from the Copp trade also

Really like Salmo, dude screams future top 4. Those Swedish d men are solid and the euros seem to love it here too since they are generally from tiny colder towns. Jets need more Euro content in my opinion. Also think Chibrikov could be a steal

Really nice podcast from The Athletic with a long interview with Jets' former scout Max Giese.

A few interesting points.

- Jets had Connor firmly in their top 10 when they selected him at 17. No real surprise.
- That year, Giese was really high on Border, ranking him close to Connor. Jets really wanted him at 25, but the Canucks chose him just before, so the Jets settled on Roslovic.
- Giese says he didn't get too focused on crazy production, and said scouts always need to consider how they project to the NHL. So a 5'8" player who isn't a great skater might put up great numbers, but doesn't project unless they have very special talent. He mentioned liking toolsy players who played "heads up" and had strong character to develop. Mentioned Poolman as having tools and great character, and Appleton as having size and tools and really played with good hockey sense.
- Said that he was really high on Lucius and was very excited when the Jets selected him. Said he was a great kid, and he really liked his skills. He mentioned again that the Jets really looked for players that can process the game quickly, in addition to the basic tools.
