I feel badly for Laine. He actually played quite well but everyone will remember his bobble in OT, but not all the gaffes made by Scheifele and Wheeler on the PP, or how Little couldn't make it up and down the ice with energy, presumably due to illness.

Now is when Maurice is going to have to show his chops as a coach and build Laine's confidence. Sitting him would be completely counterproductive.
I've been giving credit to PL when it was due but I did not think he played well tonight. Outside of the one play where he actually forechecked and retrieved the puck I thought he was slow and on the wrong side of the puck alot again. His once magnificent shot has become a memory.

I don't know which coach thought that cute nonsense where Wheeler, Laine and Trouba were moving around was going to work should just stop. It just confused the Jets more than anything.

The right play is to shoot from the point and look for tips until the PK adjusts and then start working it down low again.

he had that excellent semi-break in the 1st period.
He got rolled up by the D and got a weak one hand backhander. I thought he might have been smarter to curl up and look for a trailer. He had no real chance to score on that.

Helle was good. 3rd & 4th were good, love the pressure and chances the 4th can generate. Sure hope 44 is OK. Top two lines can look pretty bad some nights, this was of those nights. 29 is being given EVERY chance to get out of his funk, not sure how long this last until something has to change.

The 2nd PP needs to get more time, they are so much more dynamic and quick with the puck.

Glad we got the point.

Wheeler is trying his hardest to get Laine to score a goal by over passing to him on the powerplay.

He is even passing it through a crowd of players to get it to Laine which is very noticeable and teams are easily spotting it.

So dont do it. Simple bad and forced passes lose games. I dont care which is player it is if it's a stupid play dont do it.

Yes for the season as of today, average, at little below in the first part and little above the last month or so, average
Yet kept the team in so many games. They do not get an OT or if not for Helle. If that's average, ok then.
Also would rather he turn it on in second half and playoffs then start strong and become below avg later.

Most stats are awful stats because they are twisted to tell whatever story the writer wants to tell.

I'll stick to my big ol stinky flawed eyes. :)

I don’t know about that. Hell, I wish I could twist a story that Laine was doing good of late by some measure.

I hear his Fortnite stats are on point.

Button calling Laine the definition of a " One Trick Pony " was pretty blunt and honest based on his current awful level of play.

I wish he was a one trick pony, because right now it seems like he has no tricks whatsoever.

On the bright side, atleast Jets won't be signing a Matthews contract for him. For everybody involved other than Laine, his legendary slump is probably for the best. This team doesn't need 10+ million dollar contracts weighing them down.

One can only hope that he will find a way to dig his way out, eventually.

It was 1 on 2 ffs, he dropped his shoulder and drove the net on a partial break. 9 out of 10 players make that play every time, except some might try to pull it across. He most certainly had a chance to score.

Nobody on that 2nd line was very impactful tonight, but outside of firing cannons on the PP , Laine was pedestrian.

At this point Laine is basically a charity case for his line mates to set him up for an easy goal to get him going again.

Everyone on the team including his line mates are contributing to our wins except for Laine.

Does Laine have any hustle? Just looks lazy out there every game. He can’t even make a play without coughing.

TNTkid you called it...charity case
Every shot he takes from the same place every time it’s like he is pouting or crying after the shot if no goal

The coach and Jets have done everything possible to get Laine back on track and he is completely lost out there.

Laine was a -2 tonight and gave up the puck that led to the winning goal in overtime for the Sharks.

This is more than just a slump at this point and is more about how he is playing with and without the puck.

He is the only winger that hasnt played with shief and wheeler. By trying everything you mean continue to saddle him with the same center that we put on our 4th line last year in the playoffs?

Try him with Copp or with shief or hell I'd even settle for him and wheeler at this point

This has gone from from stupid to oblivious to down right negligence. This is how coaches force players out of town. In his contract year it's starting to seem like are driving his value down and it's not even accidently on purpose anymore.

You know what Laine has to do to end all complaining? Sign 6 mil long term and no one will ever say another bad word about him again. If he expects big money I have some expectations too. Like the fact that he at least scores as well as Connor the last 10 games.

He's driving his own value down. If he wants to leave after the Jet's patience with him. He's the only guy in top 9 who hasn't scored in last 20 games.

Little was low energy. That play was meh. Back to bashing Laine, I guess.
