I still see the Pavelec signing as the first big gaffe the management team has made.
You can't really say Jokinen because they had no idea he was going to suck that bad.
You can't really say Yuen till we see what happens with him.
The Pavelec contract, taking into account his stats, conditioning history, and what the future would bring with a new CBA really seems to have been a short sighted move, ESPECIALLY in today's NHL where goalies are more up and down and easier to acquire than ever.
I bet Chevy wants a mulligan on this one.
We're set in goal due to Pavs LT deal and we'd have to give up significant pieces for Schneider. They'd want a first, second and likely a player (like Burmi) - too much considering you're sending back the checking center they need, and likely 2 great long term pieces to build this team beyond LLW.
Back in 2010 Vancouver had Burmi number three on their draft board. I wonder if they're still high on him?
If we were in on Schneider what happens with Pavelec?
My thoughts exactly.
The only way I would be interested in Schneider, is if we also flipped Pavelec for at minimum 50-75% of what it took to get Schneider.
Three way trade cause I'm bored.
Philly gets: Pavelec.
Vancouver gets: Burmi and the 11th pick.
Winnipeg gets: Cory Schneider.
Perhaps I'm missing something, but isn't this just a trade between VCR and WPG, and we give Philly Pavelec for nothing?
Unless that was your intention.
So Philly gets pavs for the 11th pick.... ya when pigs fly.
The 11th pick is the Flyers pick.
My thoughts exactly.

PMB is going to hit the market, we could probably pick him up pretty cheap.
Wonder if we could rob Feaster?
Maybe Pavelec and our 2nd pick for Cammalleri and the Pens pick?
Agreed. How would that be robbing him? The Flames get a new #1 for less than Cammalleri's AAV and we get him for one year before he goes UFA. If the dangle is the Pens' first round, it's 28th this year, is it not? We get hosed, I think.
Yup. My thinking was a one year deal, similar dollar amount to what Mueller got last year, so no more than $1.8M. Would be a nice low-risk/high-reward pickup.

Agreed.
Unless we get a new goaltender in a deal elsewhere, we'll be the ones heavily suffering from that deal. Cammo has negative value right now, considering his cap-hit is much more than he's worth.
You honestly think Pavs trade value is that much better than Cammalleri's? It's one season worth of Cammy's bloated contract, whereas the Flames are taking on a $3.75M cap hit for 4 seasons of (probably) below-average goaltending.
It's not a deal I would make under normal circumstances, however, it's a trade I would certainly consider if we acquired a goaltender like Schneider and were looking to deal Pavs.
Obviously. That proposal was contingent on us trading for Schneider.
If we were trading for Schneider, I would like to see Pavs go the other way, honestly.
