That was ugly. His play reminded me of Emery vs Buffalo game 1 in 2006 where there were no saves in the crucial parts of the game. It felt as though the late Flyer goals were inevitable, and not because the team play was poor.

He needs a solid bounce back performance.

Let's also keep in mind that Bobrovsky was a liability in Florida until he wasn't. We know the talent is there with Ullmark.

Start him Saturday. He'll bounce back.

the idea was that his ~250 games prior to becoming a Sen are sufficiently indicative of his talent level and future performance and we wouldn't learn much in the grand scheme of things from 10 games this season?

He did win the Vezina and lead his team to a record points and lost his starters job the next season, bet that’s never happened before

Hasn't really played up to the price tag and hype yet.

In years past you can blame the defense for leaving the goalie out to dry on some nights but for the most part the guys have been playing relatively well defensively

The amount of explaining going on right now, Ullmark cost is the game and he’s cost us other games, that’s the truth. Don’t care what he did in Buffalo or Boston, like I don’t care what Noah Gregor did in Toronto or Nic Kensen did in Washington, I want a Ullmark performing for my team and I want to celebrate his wins in Ottawa and not intellectualize his work in Buffalo or Boston - don’t care because I only care about my team and today.

What else are you gonna do? Commiserate? What needs to be said has been said and these are just those hard in between moments of waiting between games after a tough end to the last one. These losses sting.

He needs to be better. He knows it, everyone else knows it, but he also had 2 solid games just before this, so it's not quite the train wreck some would imply. At least he takes some personal responsibility for it unlike Korpisalo last year, and he actually has a track record of success unlike all the other goalies brought in over the last 6 or so years, which should give some reason for optimism that wasn't really there for the other options tried.

Well, he split games pretty evenly the next season, not exactly lost his starter's job.

Lindbergh in Philly won the Vezina in 85 and only played 8 games in 86, but that was because he died in a car crash.

Fleury won the Vezina in 2021, and promptly traded away right afterwards.

Those are the closest I can come up with. In the end, it's pretty rare to have two vezina caliber goalies on the same team,.

inconsistency has haunted this team and was the only buzz word 6 weeks ago. Now fans and media telling us to not believe our eyes

Nobody knows of Ullmark is going to have a good season - Bob looked horrible 2 season ago, Helleybuck disappears for long stretches - you’d have to be stupid not to be concerned. This isn’t the age of Marty Brodeur - goalies regularly go entire seasons playing poorly and we’ve seen that here in Ottawa last year, and the year before that.

Florida didn’t also not make the playoffs 2 years ago because Bob was horrid. It’s a real thing

Whoever starts in the playoffs is the starter, he lost the starting job

Hamonic wears that loss more than Ullmark, many defensive breakdowns too.
More on the coach for playing Harmonic then...
Staios for keeping him ...
We can go on

But I know you get what I mean
The guy took blame for the loss
I think he knows better than we do

Sens would have won with 'capable goalie' in net.
-Linus Ullmark on the Vegas game

is one I remember
Even that game, I don't think he single handedly lost it for us, Cousins taking a needless penalty with a 2 goal lead 5 mins remaining is what really turned the tide. Plenty of blame to share in that one even if he's trying to take it on himself.

I don't think anyone is saying there's no concern, but clearly the team is playing differently this year. The advanced stats back that up from what I've seen demonstrated. Of course, the wins/losses have to level out and it will be a problem if they don't trend up, but they're a game over .500 after being below .500 and I see that as a positive they can still work off. We're not in DJ team disaster territory.

No, but it's right back to woe is me after 1 bad game directly on the heels of 2 very good ones for Ullmark (and the team). It's neither as bad as some portray nor as good as some others might. Some of that is inconsistency, some of that is the nature of the league today.

Goalies don't dominate quite like they used to, but there's still significant differences in ability. Bob had a down year, but he was still much better that year than basically any tender Ottawa has had the last 6 years and at his worst would have given the Sens a few more points the last few years. We need better, for sure, not disputing that, nor would Ullmark, but there's been positive signs and I don't think it's the train wreck we saw the last few years.

Ftr though, I fully blame Ullmark for last nights loss, as did he and Green it seems. It's the worst start he's had this year imo and the team deserved to win that game.

Plenty of blame every single game but bottom line is he needs to start being Vezina ish caliber cuz the last 7 years show us November cost us often
