Apparently Schneider in play as well. Will be SUPER pissed if we aren't in on that action.

I can't imagine VAN or ANA not trying to rob their dealing partners. I mean... yeah I'd like Schneider or Hiller over Pavs (and I love Pavs)... but please don't sacrifice our draft for them... or something like that.

They want a 1st and a good prospect.

Terrible move for us IMO to deal assets like that away when we have glaring holes up front and in prospect depth.

And then we are spending a fortune on goaltending.

I think there are more "moneypuck" goalies out there we could get for much less.

I'm not so sure Vancouver gets a first, prospect, player.

Bernier only got 2nd, Frattin, Scrivens. Isn't Frattin a 3rd line player or 4th.

It might be funny when the draft passes and he still isn't traded because they are asking for too much.

Alzner is a RFA this year, should we try to offer sheet him? The caps are in horrible trouble with only a little bit over 6m in space and Ribeiro, Wilson, Alzner, Kuznetsov all having to be signed. Next year some of their good prospects like Laata and Carrick will have to be inked as well.

Even if they let Ribeiro go that still means they have to sign Alzner for 2-3m. Caps fans seem to think that no one will be bought out, and that Ribeiro might even be resigned somehow.

8m in capspace. 5/7yrs? BO Joki?

Alzner would be the near perfect partner for Bogosian. That would be an amazing shutdown pair, and Bogo would be able to explore some more offensive opportunities as well with a guy like that backing him up.

Unfortunately, I don't think offer sheets have much of a success rate.

With so many big names out there, hopefully Chevy swings a deal for one of them. And I don't think getting Cory Schneider would be that much of a upgrade, I think if Pavs played in Vancouver, he would put up similar numbers as Cory Schneider. Best thing is to push Pavs, get a 1b goalie(sign as a ufa so we don't give anything other than cap space) and push Pavs.

Schneider AHL 0.921
Pavelec AHL 0.911

Huge upgrade.

It really saddens me that we signed pavs to 5 years. We coulda had a real goalie with a lower cap hit. Being a small market team you can understand that we won't be buying him out and will be stuck with him.

I wouldn't worry too much. If he shows nothing this upcoming season he'll be a prime candidate for a compliance buyout next off-season.

Doubt it. There will be a coaching change before that and he will get another years grace. So thats going to be 3 years guaranteed and Hellybuck still won't be ready for another year or 2 after that probably.

I don't see why a coaching change gives Pavelec another year. He's consistently put up average to bad numbers his whole career(and I don't want to argue about systems or the defensive play) and eventually you need to pull the plug or move him out. 5 years is a long enough "tryout" in my books.

I still see the Pavelec signing as the first big gaffe the management team has made.

You can't really say Jokinen because they had no idea he was going to suck that bad.

You can't really say Yuen till we see what happens with him.

The Pavelec contract, taking into account his stats, conditioning history, and what the future would bring with a new CBA really seems to have been a short sighted move, ESPECIALLY in today's NHL where goalies are more up and down and easier to acquire than ever.

I bet Chevy wants a mulligan on this one.
