Second for Stastny
First for Copp
Dillon I’m guessing a second, but might be a easier off-season Trade if he’s moved at all.
Bealieu a 7th round pick

Have to imagine Copp would generate a lot of interest to contenders. That's a very affordable cap hit for a plug and play middle 6 forward that can pretty much do it all.

Especially if Winnipeg retained 50%, sub 2M for him would be very enticing I think.

But at the same time.... If feels like the list of quality forwards likely/potentially available at the deadline just continues to grow larger and larger.

He seems like a type of player Drury will look at but I’m guessing the asking price starts at 1st round pick which might be too rich for him considering he’s a rental

If someone offers the Jets a 1st for Copp they should take it and not even ask what year it was for.....

I dunno that the Avs would really need both. Though it certainly wouldn't hurt.

My personal preference is still on the Avs getting Giroux but Stastny and/or Copp would fit what we need as well.

Yeah, and especially when you consider the fact 4 of the biggest contenders in the league already traded 1st round picks this year(Florida, Colorado, Carolina, and Vegas).

I have a feeling at least a few of these guys are going to be moved at the deadline for surprisingly low returns. Kind of like how everyone assumed all last year that Hall would get a 1st + Good prospect at the deadline and he ultimately only got a 2nd and not much else.
I think a lot of teams would entertain taking a pick in 2023 over 2022 anyway since it’s seen as a stronger draft.

Assets to sell that teams may want:

1. Copp: contract and ability, hes our most valuable.
2. Sheifs: 1st line centre who needs a fresh start, since his hit last playoff hes been hard to watch.
3. Schmidt: Solid puck moving D that can play both ends, loved by teamates.
4. Dubois: If he won't sign with us long term...he would fetch a kings ransom right now.

99. Wheeler: Ain't no one taking him on even if Jets retain 50%. Buy him out and move on.

That would be a big drop.
I’m looking at Salomonsson as it sits right now

Might be a stretch were we are slated to pick (~14). He’s seems to be all over the map depending on who’s list you go by. I’m all for BPA, all things even I just hope it’s a RHShot C or D.

That's overly dramatic. He's scoring at a 62 pt pace over a limited sample size in which he's shooting 3% (not sustainable). At 50% retention I'm sure plenty of teams would be willing to bet he'd produce enough for 2 more years, but I don't see the Jets trading their captain, nevermind retaining salary to do so. I think we're stuck with him.

I'm also skeptical anyone would take Schmidt. That's a brutal contract for a guy that's sucked on two different teams now.

It’s clear Schmidt can’t be THE guy which I feel he’s been asked to do the last two years. He’s a bottom 4 guy atm who’s been struggling lately but the team in general is awful as was Vancouver so it holds to my theory

Issue is we better be getting back a lot at 50% retained for Wheeler, it makes more sense to buy him out, lower cap hit.

Chevy and the Jets have to show they are willing to make tough decisions for the betterment of our future.

Does it suck that Wheeler has regressed so much in only a couple years...YES, but I'm sure when Chevy gave him the contract he was made aware that with the numbers, he may be bought out, but the "loyalty" contract was a means to pay him for the good hes done here, and heck, he can sign a $1 million dollar deal somewhere and keep playing.

Bealieu a 7th round pick

This is exactly what I think and would be looking for if the Jets become sellers. I don't think we'll be so far back of the wildcard that it will make sense for us to sell at all, but if we do these are the prices I would need.

1st for Copp 50% retained - A top 6 C/W that is good on draws and excellent defensively for $1.8M. For a team tight to the cap it won't get better than this.

2nd for Stastny, we can retain on him too if needed. - Proven playoff performer with 0.7 PPG in over 100 playoff games. Great on draws and again C/W.

We traded 2 - 2nds for Dillon this past offseason but I always expected to move him again to get a second back once the kids showed they were ready. Maybe needs to wait until the offseason but I would move him in a hockey trade, or keep him and move one of Stanley, Samberg or Heinola.

Beaulieu for a 7th. Depth D in case of injuries. Can play both sides. Brings some grit.

Wheeler really had turned it around before he got injured and has looked great since he returned to the lineup. He is underperforming his contract but we just need a coach that will manage his minutes appropriately. He's 35 years old so he shouldn't be playing 24 minutes a game as a forward.

Since we got Chaz as a RHShot C last year and Nathan Smith is also a RHShot C, for my money we need a RHD with top pair potential more than anything else.

For me it’s RHD or RHW… both are equally important.
With Wheeler declining hard and no real top 6 projected RHW in the pipeline, we have a serious need there.
With our lack of a top pairing RHD, or any in the pipeline, that’s also a serious need.
Also, we are overflowing with left handed shots and seriously lacking righties.
I, personally, don’t follow the BPA philosophy. I’m fine with picking within 3 of our pick to get a player of need.
ie: if we have pick #14, any player from #14-#17 that fits need over BPA, unless BPA also fits need

The problem is that he's paid too much for what he brings and the Jets don't have cap space to bring in someone better to bump everyone down (nevermind the fact that dominant #1 defensemen aren't available).

If he was deployed like Myers was, I'm sure he'd do well. I like certain aspects of his game. He's really good at getting shots through instead of firing it into a block or shooting 100 mph but missing the net by a mile (e.g. Chiarot).

Something around Scheifele for Chychrun would be nice.

Jets are never winning the Cup with Scheifele/Wheeler on the team. Both need to go.

Value aside, the Jets don't need any LD, so that likely doesn't work for Winnipeg.

Jets need RHW and RHD… not LH anything.

Agree we need to move Scheifele and Wheeler, though.
