...is this a Beowulf reference?
Damn your eyes, you beat me to it!

True story: I once mistakenly referred to Flames prospect Pavel Brendl as “Pavel Grendl”; the guy next to me at the poker table, Doc, guffawed in Harvard and said something like “if you think he’s good, you should see his mother!”

We met when I was trying to break into the social group of high limit players in the local public game, and I heard him openly wonder to the waitress how “special” the Daily Special could be, if it was prime rib three days in a row.

I piped up with “surely by now, they’re on to secondary rib?”

He guffawed loudly and asked the waitress for an order of “tertiary rib”, lol. Of course she rolled her eyes, just like when I’d wind him up and get him referring to Banh Mi as a “French Indo-Chinese sub”

Hey, look, we tipped the waitresses well, and we were the only two players NOT sexually harassing them, so cut us some slack :P

I don’t think KC had a bad game tbh. And I don’t think you watched Iafallo closely if you felt he was invisible. He drove a solid forecheck, strong on the boards and defensively broke up a blackhawks play almost every single shift he was on
KC other than the goal was bad throughout other than one good back check. Iafallo had a couple good forechecks but didn't make a play or create anything. He has 18 points in 55 games with 4 points coming in one game. Offence is not his thing at all and it showed. Ehlers basically created everything on his own or a couple of times with Monahan.

Scheif, Monahan were good but the wingers on the top two lines other than Ehlers struggled mightily. Villardi is so good on PP but at 5 on 5 didn't see anything from him. The 3rd line got caved in as well and that is why you end up with an OT win against the worst team in the league.

Ehlers is built slightly and always reminds me, as a Phisio and trainer, of a guy who has respiratory challenges, be it early emphsema, asthma or whatnot.
His compete is off the charts, but would still be limited in terms of TOI. Admittedly, I have no proof or confirmation, but add to this cervical injuries, one could get the impression that his ability to sustain long play has a limitation. This could explain his shorter TOI. Guy is amazing nonetheless.
Keeper.

Yeah Iafallo is not an offensive player right now but that’s ok - I thought he helped the line out overall and was very good defensively. Hence my unsung hero shout out. Hopefully he turns it around at some point - to be honest I did expect more offence from him. But one can’t knock his grind and defensive hustle.

Mrazek also kept the hawks in it - 3 of those go it and it’s a different game and people might be feeling differently about it as a whole

Monahan has def exceeded my expectations and he’s always making smart plays. He adds a much needed impact to this team

FWIW I appreciate the high level humor. I love my friends. Many of them are quite sharp, some not so much. What I love most about this board is having to keep up. There is an awful lot of depth here. It's good for the mind; one needs to pay attention.

Well 2 points is great, man something about Chicago they have been tough games. Someone should have turned that Radish into a vegetable after hitting Helly like that. Terrible pass from Stanley on Chicago's first goal, can't do that and we need to shoot more, Connor's goal was a pass that luckily went in . Ehlers with a good game , now we dance.

If this forum was a person it would be taking Xanax, Lithium and Ex-lax.
Ingested lithium competes with ionic sodium to regulate of the activities of neurotransmitter transporters and certain receptors which are drug targets for psychiatric disorders and addictive behavior.

Personally I think its the attendance thread that's wreaking havoc around here. :)Also too much lithium would facilitate the effects of Exlax in a positive feedback loop.

I thought the Stanley play was a shot that didn’t get through.

Busy night with kids activities so I missed the game. Hopefully I can watch it tonight at some point. Nice to get the win.

You should watch it to see Ehlers score his 2 goals, his 1st one i thought it went through the side of the net because of the angle he shot it.

I don't think so , it looked like he was trying to pass it, at least to me anyway.

Yep Ehlers did do everything himself. I wondered if his second goal he should have used his line mates more, except it worked. Otherwise a one man rush like that seems like a wasted puck when you have a man advantage.

I thought he was shooting it considering there was no one in front. The commentators even said if he is going to shoot that he has to make sure to hit the net.

Ya just watching it again it was a shot attempt but it looked like a hard pass because it was flat on the ice. Either way you can't do that especially when you are trying to show you should be in the starting 6 .

Please Understand
it's weird to see a team #1 in the west this late into the season that have posters that have 95% of their posts being negative... something really doesn't add up, unless you set unrealistic expectations or just are happy when you are unhappy

I'm not unhappy, but this team's performance has significantly risen my expectations for the season. I demand better out of the players that are supposed to be drivers. Chef's line isn't cutting it right now. They're defensively porous and getting hemmed in by the f***ing worst team in the league. That is an issue.

How much of that play was on sanberg if at all, as while Stanley was shooting he didn’t seem to realize that there was already a black hawk creeping out the zone, and how much should a defense partner be relied on watching the guy creeping out of the zone when your partner is shooting it? I mean it’s not like Stanley whiffed it in his own zone or was the only D back like with Pionk’s giveaway that lead to a breakaway and a safe by Helly.
