I'm not an unreasonable man...
You and a few others have been at least a little unreasonable when talking about JG.
I think some people are overlooking that a (re)build is more than just trading vets for prospects/picks and then inserting you players you trade for and draft into the lineup.
Im sure a few people probably are. But I know for me, I've considered that and also considered a bunch of trades, FA moves, etc that we have and haven't made.

I'm not an unreasonable man...
Depends on who you ask....
And have two irregular seasons back to back makes that process even more difficult. And that is exactly where this team is: developing young talent. They are by no means a finished product.
Everyone SHOULD know that this is not a finished product. The need for instant gratification trumps common sense.

I blame JG for nothing outside of a few roster moves he directly made...yknow...his job? But I do have concerns with the roster and our drafts/trades. Hurt my confidence in JG a bit.
What roster moves are you upset with? And who is your concern over the roster, drafts and trades? Really. Inquiring minds want to know.
Why are some of you are so offended by that notion? The desperate JG bootlicking here is really weird.
No more so than blind scapegoating's and the need to point the finger.
"Crystal ball" has quickly become one of the more idiotic arguments. In essence a GMs whole job IS having to "look through a crystal ball". What do some of you think drafting and doling out millions to free agents is about? Throwing darts? Pure luck? Then why have a GM at all? Eventually you're wrong too often about too many different things.
Here what is truly idiotic. Believing that Gorton needs to have a crystal ball to know that 1) they were winning the lottery 2) that a global pandemic was going to break out 3) that DeAngelo was going to loose his marbles. Doubling down on the idiocy is believing that not only was he supposed to predict all that, but that he should have had the vision to plan around it.
Go figure, that same guy with a history of red flags blows up after being re-signed. But some of you still keep throwing this dumb "you wanted him to have a crystal ball!" line as if there's nothing in the past to indicate this as a possibility (and as if it's not pretty much exactly how you all evaluate a GM too)
Must be very nice to play arm-chair GM with the extra benefit of hind sight. Bravo.

Sometimes I think it’s helpful to frame things in terms of a regular workplace. If an employee violates company policies on conduct, he gets discipline. In a lot of workplaces, you’ll get an official verbal warning. If policy is violated again, you’ll get an official written warning. Sometimes multiples, depending on the employer and what the violations actually look like. Eventually, if the behavior continues, the employee will end up on a final warning. Once the final warning is issued, if there are further violations it ends in termination.

That’s essentially what happened here. I don’t know for sure that hockey teams have HR policies laid out in the same way, and there are certainly other issues involving contracts and possibilities of trades... but DeAngelo essentially violated conduct policies enough times to end up on a final warning, and ultimately got fired.

Gorton “drawing a line in the sand” is pretty standard practice for managers in any company.

I would disagree (obviously based on my posts here). This isn’t a direct correlation. You can’t leverage employees in that scenario the way that sports franchises can for the betterment of the company and employee.

Maybe not, but when a player is starting to become a complete distraction and is causing issues in the locker room, you can warn, warn again, warn again, give a final warning and then cut ties.

What is wrong with Lemieux, Howden/Rooney, Digi on the 4th line? What was wrong with the Chytil-Kakko tandem on the third line?

Let's face it. To you anyone but a complete re-tread coach does not have a clue.

What evidence are you putting forth for this piece of dung sentence?

Same statement as above? What evidence can you show that the players do not respect the coaches?

And when did they stop respecting Allaire of all people?

Wait, this is a gem even for an internet message board. In order to improve morale, they decided to cut DeAngelo and play Smith. Even for you to spin what happened in such a manner is a brand new level of idiocy. And just as I thought it could not get any worse.

Yawn....rant....drivel.....rant some more....wash, rinse repeat

TB be like..

It’s funny that I literally made that same point to make clear that this isn’t a direct correlation, but rather a way of framing it relatably. Not really sure what you’re disagreeing with.

I'm not an unreasonable man...

If you're not an unreasonable man then how about you actually address the concerns some people have instead of going along with this charade as if he's the most perfect GM there ever was..

2 out of the last 3 1st round prospects (LA, Kravtsov) don't want to play here because of the way things are being run.
Add to that, ADA who was a top 4 dman last year that is beyond frustration due to DQ.

Whether you will ever want to wake up to the fact that DQ has no system and can't make in/out of game adjustments is beyond comprehension.
He plays favorites without doing what's best for the team.
Just another clown that likes to treat things like a science experiment.
He's got 4 coaches helping him out and still can't get it right.

People are praising JG for the Zib trade and luckily it's worked out pretty well but ultimately, with his injury history, it was nothing more than a gamble at the time.
BTW..Pay close attention to what happens on this next contract negotiation.
We may not have a #1 center soon.

On that note..
Spooner.. Dumb signing
Shattenkirk..Dumb signing
Smith, JMFJ, Eric Staal.. Guess what?
They all suck!
Kreider contact is absurd.

Chris Drury?
Wtf has the invisible man done in any capacity other than enjoy company vacation time?
Hartford is a mess.

Shall I go on??

I could do this all night so instead of posting nonsense, refute the above..

In lack of knowing where exactly to post this, but a big kudos to JD, Gorton and Drury (Hartford is a mess, don't you know) for assembling the scouting staff that they have. I get that it is a small sample right now, but they managed to find players on other teams scrap heaps to bolster depth and plug in and those players have made a difference. Again, small sample size right now, but it reminds me a bit of what the Yankees went through a few years ago when it seemed like everyone was injured but the players that were brought in stepped up and the team did not miss a beat.

Rooney, Blackwell, Digi, heck Bitetto. These guys have come in, played a simple game, played exactly the way that the coaching staff wants them to and the Rangers have been better off for them.

Not the person you asked, but some answers:

Lias didn’t want to play here because he thinks he’s better than he is. We can see now on LA that he’s not the caliber of player that warrants the treatment he was upset he didn’t get here. That’s nobody’s fault but his own.

Kravstov is playing in the KHL and word is he may come over this very season. Saying he doesn’t want to play here is over dramatic imo. He’s rather develop in his home country than in Hartford. That’s fine and not unusual at all for Russian players.

TDA didn’t not want to be here, he just can’t help himself from being argumentative and divisive, and on top of that he’s the third best player at his position, so he doesn’t get the leeway he seems to think he should. Again, his problem much like Lias.

Drury is the assistant GM - what exactly do you think he should be doing that is so noticeable to you? What other AGMs do things that regular fans are aware of? It’s an office job and not really public facing.

For the dramatics about how Quinn has no system and “can’t get it right” - his young as hell team just gave the Caps coached by a guy with over 600 wins only the second loss of their season. I guess that’s just luck along with the play of everyone who has been playing well and the team having clearly improved metrics from last year.

Not to mention that at the time, the Rangers wanted him to play in Russia as what is going on with Hartford was an unknown. Same goes for Lundqvist.

Part of the same group that if Quinn was to walk on water across the Hudson, they would be on here ranting "See, he couldn't fly!".

those who know walking on water isn't possible would read how hindsight is 20/20 when a human demonstrates it's not possible to those who were adament it was.

You lost me at "2 of the last 3 first round prospects". Which one of Chytil, Miller, Lundkvist, Kakko, Lafreniere, and Schneider were you generous enough to include with your two cherry-picked (and misguided) examples?

Say what you want about Gorton... but this is a potential roster for next year.

Kreider Zibs Buch
Panarin Strome Kravtsov
Lafreniere Chytil Kakko

Miller Trouba
Lindgren Fox
Robertson Lundkvist

Shesterkin.

talent will not be the issue.

This is a fair post but it seems just a little more than coincidental that 1st rounders are looking to flee.

Drury needs to get Hartford in order if you're gonna have a pipeline leading to the big club that works if you want success.
No way around it.
I feel like Hartford has been abandoned.

Quinn.. Sorry but I'll just never agree that this is the guy to coach this team.

Too much of a science project for me.

They had a few good games but no way they keep up the "playoff" hockey place throughout the season.

Not going to happen..

Silly lol

I think he's done a great job tbh. No GM is perfect. They all make mistakes. Look at this off season, signing JJ was a mistake but the other acquisitions like Blackwell, Rooney, Bitetto have been very good. His trades have been pretty damn good too overall. The Nash trade that essentially enabled us to get Strome, Miller, and Lindgren is pure genius. Mika for Brassard and Fox for 2 2nd's are pretty damn good too.
