Say what you want about the Islanders but at least they have an ethos. It took what, one week, for Lou and Trotz too instill it?

Gorton has had 4 years at the wheel and we are the worst looking team in hockey. An insult to the concept of character.

I have hope since JD got here. Feel like he’s influencing team construction. Moved up for a potential rhino in Schneider. Got rid of one of the worst top ten picks ever for another truculent pounder in Cullye. I mean, Gorton’s idea of a 2nd is Lias Anderson’s
little brother, Karl Henriksson.

Even Hogo Ollas gives me hope after all the below average size long shot goalies the Rangers specialize in selecting.

I’d love to see one of our top au-, uh specially talented posters on this board literally reverse engineer Gorton’s build here and assign a grade to each move. Start with the phenomenally odious Jack Johnson acquisition which they couldn’t wait for free agency period to begin before making that move. (For the record I partially sadly also blame JD partly for that).

The Rangers are so deflating to watch it makes watching other games depressing.

Maybe having the youngest team in the league helps with that? One that is missing the player that has been their best center and one of their top defensemen? Or the fact that the entire team has had such poor puck luck, that it is virtually comical? Sprinkle in a handful of games in which the goalies could not stop a beach ball?

We can cherry pick all we want, but it seems that Gorton' s idea of a second is also Matthew Robertson. Or does JD get credit for that as well. Did JD also orchestrate a trade when they moved up to get Miller? He surely must have.

And yeah. Since the rebuild begun, Gorton has clearly not been drafting for size and attitude. JD started that trend last year.

Could not agree more. They need to cut Shesterkin as quickly as possible or trade him for a 7th round pick.

Certainly not special, but considering the Spooner for Strome trade, bringing in Trouba, Panarin, Lindgren, trading for Fox, making draft day trades to move up and grab Miller & Schneider, drafting Chytil, Lundkvist, Robertson, Kravstov, finding players like Reuanen, Jones and Berard in the later rounds, I'd say he is doing pretty well.

Last year, they were exciting. Now they are depressing. One would think that they lost last night.

@Machinehead @Harbour Dog

You two McNuggets act as if the Mcnugget come back wasn't one of the greatest HF GOAT comebacks of all time.
I mean.. You're literally still talking about it years later  :thumbu:

I mean, Gorton cut his chops in Boston so you’d think he would be trying to mold the Rangers after the successful 2008-13 Bruins. But then again he was dismissed in 2007. I don’t know anymore.

In this instance. I'm a big fan of the word.."Dismissed"

Gorton didn’t say this team was ready to compete . He knows they have some changes to make and more prospects to see

Rooney and Blackwell are the type of signings you win Cups with.

2 years 1.5M? 725-750K AAV?

Signings of the decade

.... dont look over there at Johnson... forget it.

what is the consensus of gorton on these boards? I remember being terrified every time a job opened up that gorton might get tired sitting behind sather and take it. I was elated when sather moved on and gorton was promoted. I might be impatient, but I have been a little underwhelmed by him so far.

LOL

ok so let’s get a new GM so he could do what exactly? Start a rebuild? Trade assets to try and win now? Doesn’t make any sense.

This is the youngest team in the league. Anyone who is expecting them to make waves this year hasn’t been watching.

The good moves far outnumber the bad, or even the mediocre. Gorton has done a good job. "The Letter" was 3 years ago. We are less than 2 years removed from our first high draft pick.

2 years after their first high pick, the following teams were:

PIT: 4 years away, finishing .354
LAK: 3 years away, finishing .482
CHI: 4 years away, finishing .396
WSH: 14 years away, finished .427
TBL: 12 years away, finished .402

Even if we look at the most favourable scenarios, we are still 3-4 years away. We need to be patient.

This board doesn’t understand that patience actually takes time
