I am mad you're right.

Cheered for this team my whole life and it's been the laughing stock of the league for the vast majority of it. And low and behold it continues to be the laughing stock of the league.

And to top it all off there are still people like you who lap it up.
Please don't start a thread on it. We've had several of those. "Goodbye all, I just can't take fill in the blank"

For sure myself and others don't lap up the spoiled milk the org puts out. But that doesn't require us calling fellow board members idiots. jebus.

I remember when the team planted posters on here from their sneaky marketing team to try and sway public (hfboards) opinion about the organization just before the new arena/McDavid. I always wonder if they stuck around...
Huh? This happened? You sure?

I wonder if McLellan brings Woody back into the fold in LA.

What I find interesting is a HC gets to pick his staff. Knoblach inherits the forever incumbent Schwartz, Gulutzan and has Coffey gifted a position.

All I can do is laugh at this point.
I really doubt anyone would go back to working under someone they beat twice. I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings try to sign Woodcroft as HC if McLellan doesn't make it past the first round again.

Sometimes people go back to their starting places searching for meaning and connection with past. Its comforting to visit spots where one was at young or to be involved in the same.

For some people and particularly famous people the one time in their life kind of defines them, and its natural to go back to it. For most of us life is different. We may have several jobs, or times of life we look back to. For the famous it tends to be the one thing.

Whether Coffey will be good here is unknown. What is known is he was, and is, brighter than Kevin Lowe.

Coffey and Messier were the most intelligent players on that club. Coffey is certainly not an imbecile.

In anycase how the 80's unfolded was a magic time for the org and everybody involved. It defined all of them. But Coffey was gonna be great anywhere and was.
I have always wondered why people hate Coffey so much. He answers most questions pretty honestly IMO. He absolutely is a nepotism hire and that normally raises the ire of a lot of folks. But he is an asst. coach, I think he is capable of fulfilling that role. I think you raised a good point about McDavid and Draisaitl respecting him because of his history. Posters probably don't agree but in the dressing room I think it does make a difference.

Looks like you are one of many that likes to make assumptions

Like Will SMiths basketball coach said in Fresh Prince:

"Don't make assumptions. You will be an ASS, and the UMP will TION you"
Gonna disagree here. Lets see. Offseason Connor Brown, Jackson, now McD's Junior coach. I mean at some point its pretty clear. Its about as clear as anything gets. As fans we never here all of what is going on. But those 3 alone and McD stating he was involved in them removes it from just being assumption.

All good, the Oilers D has been brutal at times this year. Still hopeful it can be better.
Been saying forever they needed 2 top 4 d-men. Ekholm was one but need an additional top 4RD veteran to get anywhere near a legitimate Cup level defense corp. Bouchard's inconsistency is a reminder how challenging this position is to onboard and grow into a mature game defender. Add erratic goaltending behind it and it's a problem.

Perfect world they would also upgrade goaltending and stretching further replace McLeod with a harder, physical experienced 3C. Oil have draft and trade collateral to do maybe 1 or 2 of these key needs as I see them.

Holland also took accountability and said because of his moves, Woody was put into a tight spot and couldn't healthy scratch guys, etc
Yup really took note of that, when he was eluding to the fact of accountability, something along the lines like, " it's easier to hold players accountable when you're working with a 23 man roster compared to only 21"

Coffey being here on the bench helps almost the way Duncan Keith and Mike Smith being on the bench helped. An intelligent sage who has seen it all and won cups with different club. If the Flames managed to hire this guy the board would implode. Coffey was the best Defenseman of his era, indisputably.

Even when Huddy was hired outside the org people complained about it. These are solid hockey guys.

Who’s going to want to play in Edmonton if they didn’t want to already. It’s only getting juicier

Did you consult your leadership group before making this decision:

Holland: Ya I talked to them all and got their input.

Jackson: No they didn't have anything to do with this decision.

Kenny you done f***ed up!!
You can talk to your group about it.

It does not mean they have final say.

That's what I got out of it.

It's hilarious that people here think Connor probably has an office upstairs, kicks his feet back up on the desk, etc. Hell, McDavid probably summoned Woody up there and fired him by himself and then called Knobber up and hired him too. All with a cigar in his mouth.

It is absolutely a thinly veiled attempt of ensuring McDavid doesn't request a trade by insulating him with people he cares about. The fact that they show this much concern concerns me lol.

But tell us how you feel.
He certainly played the sport in a more intelligent manner, but we know being more athletic or efficient on a sheet of ice does not make you any smarter than someone who can't throw a ball or snap a shot.

For the flack Kevin Lowe gets here, and rightfully so, we must remember the team he constructed for us in 2006. I'll always be thankful he had ambitions large enough to go out and get Pronger and leave his mark, bringing in a ton of players that honestly reminds me of the current Vegas Golden Knights roster, damn solid all the way through with everyone buying in and playing hard as nails with a solid D group.

Incredibly conceited as a person from what I have seen, yes, and it makes me want to cheer against and poke fun at him, but he constructed a roster that had the capability of winning a Cup to a better degree than anyone since, and had less to work with.

Gretzky was the best player in NHL history and did not fare well as a coach

What are Coffeys qualifications? Because it sounds like he’s actually running the team.

Because he’s vain and full of himself just like all of the OBC? I donno. Why have any of these imbeciles thought they should be able to steer the direction of this team decades after playing for this organization.
Because they care about the team? They don't need any of it. They are set for life. (Doesn't mean they should be put into any roles). I don't know any of these guys. I can't say it's ego or anything else.

Huh? This happened? You sure?
It did. It was even outed from some of their other social media. One of them, I could name who, appeared during the arena debates and posted tons here during the whole arena saga and did the same on other boards. The org actually hired some guys as influencers on social media. Like this is China or something.

Soon as the final arena negotiations were concluded the one topic posters disappeared. It was so evident too. the one guy would have every arena update first. Where you think he was getting that?

Something had to be done, canning Woody/Manson was over due, but addressing our most important position on the ice is the key factor for me now, unless our new system will only allow for 10-15 shots against a game

Gretzky was an ownership publicity hire for the media who had no investment in coaching. FIrst one out of the rink on game days, let his assistants run everything, and basically was a passenger that showed up for the paychecks and media availabilities. Players who played for him have talked about it(with great respect of course).

Of course, Coffey doesn't have any investment in coaching either, but Katz likely wants him to get an up close view of what's going on during games before he's allowed to take over the reins of the GM chair

So if there is no trade market right now, what exactly is Holland's plan?

For Knoblaugh to play Skinner the next 20 starts in a row?
Kenny’s plan? Didn’t he just execute it?

“Our problem is goaltending! Let me go try to trade for a goalie”

“K no goalies are out there and everyone’s trying to fleece me. Our problem is coaching!”

get off your knees shill
lol. Go read all of my past posts and call me that again. I have sh** on everybody int his org, including Daryl.

You know you do not understand an argument or facts when you resort to name calling.

I would teach you about capitalism, but no time for that right now.

I hope you don't buy pizza that is marked up 8x or groceries, etc. Probably grow your own food then.
