Last night was already Knoblauch or at least Paul Coffeys intervention. The D play and stressing being front of net more than anybody else was striking change. A type of radical change Woody not noted for.

Nurse played well last night because he knows Woody was one. Trust me he would be looking forward to this coaching change. Nurse worst stint was all in the Woody time frame. he was very good under Tippett and Mclellan.

The biggest change has to be the Defensive system. Havnt seen the Oul play like this in years, even when they did well in the McDrai era

If Knoblauch were coaching then, Campbell would have probably got some starts. Or maybe Knoblauch decided to play Pickard over Skinner for a couple games based on what happened last year
That would be my guess too.

I really do like woodcroft and think he is a great coach. On a lesser team he would likely be great to have as a coach for many years.

The issue I find looking back is if I try to think of the difference between McLellan, tippet and woodcroft it get confusing to remember who was the coach at a given time to look it up as it was a similar mold system and mentality to coach.

Create a very good system, and teach it and stick to it I matter what. That works most the time and for most games, but when someone beat there system they were reluctant to change it up and respond.

Tippet I found the most guilty to stick hardest to a system and so after tippet woodcroft appeared willing to change it a bit because he may do a few more moves but it still only looked like a lot because tippet really refused to change

Not only is the system solid...the buy in is 100%.
Speaks to the credibility of the Head Coach in the eyes of the players.

Knoblauch earned the buy in and it’s so key. Woodcroft tried to implement a new defensive system and I’m not even sure if I can criticize his system because the players weren’t all buying in, you could see it in those early games.

Holland really did jolt the team by firing Woodcroft, and then Knob really earned the buy in during the win streak because the players saw the results and saved the season.

Kinda reminds me of when the Hawks fired their coach (Savard I think) and the players were gutted, like Kane was in tears. Quenville replaced him and they took off from there.
