Confirmed with Link: Jason Arnott fails physical; Deal with NYR off

He's definitely worth it. There are many forwards he can replace in our line-up.

I guess I just don't see who he will easily replace.....

Halpern? Maybe. He pk's.

Asham? Doubt it considering his role.

Rupp? Same as Asham.

Boyle? Great PKer and food shut down center.

Ferriero/Kreider? You lose A LOT of speed with this move on a team that seems to be lacking there.

Would take Rupp or Halpern out for Arnott. Probably Rupp.

Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Pyatt
Hagelin-Boyle-Ferreiro
Arnott-Halpern-Asham

Arnott scored as much as Anisimov last year, plus he's bigger and stronger. We were in a desperate need for more depth, and Arnott adds just that. His size and ability to add scoring from the team's depth will help.

I don't care what line he plays on, but if his giant ass isn't in front of opposing netminders on the Power Play, something is seriously wrong.

At this point, I think we can live the most with Rupp out of the lineup. I think there's enough toughness around the team to replace what we would lose with Rupp being out. Dude only played 2 minutes tonight.

Depending on the match up, of course. You want to have as much toughness out there when you play a team like the Flyers or the Bruins. Depth isn't a problem.

Hey Tawnos......didn't you talk about the Rangers signing Arnott awhile ago? Good move for one shortened season....we need depth and having one more body just makes everything feel better. Besides a light under some of our centers is a good thing.

You try giving Kreids a few games in CT to get his game back.

Good signing.

I'd go with something like...

Gabby - Richards - Nash
Hagelin - Stepan - Callahan (loved this trio when they played together)
Ferrarierreiooreerraaiorrairoario - Boyle - Arnott
Pyatt - Halpern - Asham

GTFO Rupp.

Boyle seemed to be playing with Stepan and Callahan . I really don't know where Arnott will play but thinking 3rd line C with Boyle on wing somewhere

Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Hagelin-Stepan-Callahan
Kreider-Ferriero-Pyatt
Arnott-Boyle-Halpern/Asham
Rupp

Sit Rupp and either Asham or Halpern.

Stepan played his best game tonight, especially once he was with Boyle and Pyatt. He and Callahan do not play well together.

Nash - Richards - Gaborik
Hagelin - Ferriero - Callahan
Pyatt - Stepan - Boyle
Asham/Rupp - Halpern/Arnott - Halpern/Arnott

Arnott is going to play center so I'm not sure why some have him penciled in on the wings. Also not sure why some have Ferriero ahead of Arnott on the depth chart. Arnott is a veteran who knows what it takes to win plus were not paying him $1.6 million to be a 4th line center. Arnott is about 50% on faceoffs which is not amazing but it will definitely help. And were not sending Kreider down. He will get his turn when he is healthy.

Any word on what number he will wear?

The Arnott signing is not remotely a panic move. It is the result of a good judge of hockey talent looking down from above (talking about Sather, not god) and realizing that Rupp is a placeholder. I don't really care about the reason (injury not yet recovered, etc) just about what needs strengthening.

This is going to help.

I think people are over-estimating some of our forwards and underestimating where ARNOTT will fit in....He won't be a 4th liner...KREIDER, if not hurt, is still lost and has alot to learn...HAGs, while speedy and forechecks, just can't produce anything...Ferriero/Rupp/ASham/Halpern are all purely 4th liners...I think you'll see ARNOTT, who can play W or C, end up on a big line with Boyle and Pyatt or perhaps with Cally and Hags..Either way, not sure we have a set 2nd and 3rd line, but a 2a-2b situation...However, if Kreider does catch on to the game, it just make the Rangers deeper and better

It still leaves me wondering who will be in the top 6. Guess I would go with

Nash, Richards, Gaborik
Hagelin, Stepan, Calahan
Boyle, Arnott, Pyat
Rupp, Halpern, Asham

I like Ferrerio but not sure where he plays so I think he's going down when Arnott is ready

i like this move alot....i think he can definitely help and adds to our depth. Brings obvious Grit and experience, and he has always scored big goals in crucial times.

I will bet you Ferrerio gets at least another couple of looks. If he shows consistency Torts will keep him around.
