With so many games in the division I would bet that Asham and Rupp will be playing in most of the games this season barring any injuries. Halpern pk's. Arnott can not. At this point, Ferreiro looked like a good fit
price is insane... sounds like boyle is getting forced to the wing
Hey Tawnos......didn't you talk about the Rangers signing Arnott awhile ago? Good move for one shortened season....we need depth and having one more body just makes everything feel better. Besides a light under some of our centers is a good thing.
Arnott is not a good 2way center anymore. He would easily be the Rangers worst defensive center. Put him on the wing so it lowers his responsibility.
was at the game tonight when I heard he signed. Can't believe how much they gave him. Not liking that contract. Is someone on the way out?
July 2 was the first time I mentioned him.http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showpost.php?p=51999313&postcount=239
He did not play anywhere during the lockout, but he's typically taken good care of himself physically.does anyone know what kind of condition Arnott is in? Has he been playing in Europe or anything?
I don't think he'll start playing for a week or so. Get some hard practices in and get used to skating with the team. I think he is an ideal player for a shortened season. Vet leader with playoff experience. I believe he was skating with a bunch of Dallas players during the lock out.
Probably could rotate him with Rupp depending on who the Rangers are playing. I think the Rangers are going to give Kreider another shot once he's 100%.
Nash-Richards-Gaborik
Kreider-Stepan-Callahan
Hagelin-Boyle-Pyatt
Arnott-Halpern-Asham
A lot also depends on how Ferriero plays the next few games as well.
This. Our problem is speedy, aggressive teams who always harrass the puck carrier, not big, physical teams. Why in the heck do we need yet another lumbering giant out there who can get caught flat footed?Good signing against teams we can get a hold of. Will not help against the rest.

I think Boyle could use his size better on the wing. he's played there before and well he played there 2nite and did pretty good.
Kreider likely goes down for more playing time and hopefully works his way back up. It gives him time to get his game rolling. Miller may be ready by the playoffs as well

23 goals against with him on the ice last year. I know his qualcomp was way down and he started 60% of his shifts in the offensive zone. But bad defensive centers are on the ice for more GA than that. What he might lack in skating to catch up with the play, he makes up for in smarts.
It is not immediately clear when Arnott, 38, will be evaluated by the Rangers' medical staff. Arnott reportedly underwent arthroscopic knee surgery this past summer after playing through both a knee and shoulder injury last season.
If he does pass the physical, the deal will be worth $1.6 million (pro-rated), with $1.2 million guaranteed, the source said.
1.7 is a bit high, but for one year, there isn't too much to complain about. I like Arnott on the 3rd line, especially since Miller isn't NHL ready yet. With Arnott on the 3rd line I wouldn't mind seeing any of the wingers on this team playing alongside him. I always had a problem seeing Callahan, Hagelin, Kreider or really anyone besides Pyatt playing with Boyle.
