Stuff and Things
There's just as many stats, facts, and most importantly "etc." that I throw out there that gets many "no because I said so" from you guys. The main one for me is the simple number of minutes that the dude played on the PP for us this year. But you guys divide those numbers and some **** and turn that into him being top-5 guy in the league.

The numbers or "stats" I have issues with are these corsi/advanced whatever they are.

1.34...2.6...5.86...11.75 all mean nothing to me. Along with all the /60 "stats" or whatever else behind the nets got.

Weber, Karlsson, Keith, Pietrangelo, OEL, Suter, Doughty, Giordano, Subban>>>>> Wisniewski. Its a joke that they're being compared, even if you and btn.ca say otherwise.

The red dog flew into the fluffy yellow clouds.

Makes about as much sense as your post.

Wiz is going to stay. Let it go.

I don't know what this means.

It is my favorite part of your post.

According to Cyclone and behindthenet.ca the ES production/60 "stats" show that James Wisniewski is a "stones throw away" from a Mr. Shea Weber.

The issue I have is who's throwing the stone? Nikitin can't get it there through traffic, neither can Savard. Erixon maybe? I'll have to check his stone throws/60 numbers in the AHL this past year...

Stones. I can't get no satisfaction. Stattered. You can't always get what you want. I get it now.

Is busman still confused about Wiz's minutes.

I covered this in great detail earlier and, at no point, was a conclusion reached that Wiz was a top 5 dman in the league. Where in the world did he come up with that? Did someone make some declaration somewhere that confused him?

This is all he needs to see the regular season breakdown for the Jackets.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/playerstats....imeOnIce&status=A&team=CBJ&viewName=timeOnIce

You'll see that averaged almost 17 minutes of ES (2nd on the team) and 2 minutes of SH (3rd on the team) TOI per game. He and JJ both averaged over 3 minutes of PP TOI per game.

There was nothing unusual about his minutes. There are plenty of d-men across the league that had a similar minutes distribution. Most of them were considered top pairing guys and played a couple more minutes a game - mostly on ES. Nothing drastic. 3-4 minutes of PP time certainly isn't usual for guys around his overall ES and PK minutes.

I will say that Wiz did average the least number of ES minutes of the guys in the top 15 of PP time. However Wiz had more PK time than a few in that same list.

Wisniewski was 10th(9-11) when it came to total powerplay time on ice for defensemen. That's a lot of minutes. Both PHX and MTL had 2 guys in the top 5. Jack Johnson still made the top 20 which is also quite a bit of minutes. With 75 games played Boyle and Wiz are the 2 with the least amount of games played in this top 20. We were 1 of 4 teams with 2 defensemen in the top 20.

Our powerplay was better this year than in years past, and at times looked very dangerous. Other times it looked as bad as its ever been. Where does Wiz play into this? Besides the other players that some of you are now comparing him to, my only ISSUES I have with Wiz is the fact that most of you seem to think that without him our powerplay would have been bottom 10 in the league. That and his defensive play that I think has a way bigger negative effect than you guys would like to believe. How many times did an odd man break or a clear cut breakaway happen because of Wiz fumbling the puck or just making a bad decision? I'd love to see what Wiz's fumbled pucks to scoring chance against/60 were.

Our success(on the powerplay, in general, and on Wiz's stat sheet) this year had more to do with our TEAM than just one player.

I'm sorry, where was our powerplay last season, the season before, etc? It was mostly bottom 5, no doubt bottom 10. And the last two years Wiz was hampered by serious injuries or a long term suspension. When Wiz was here for (mostly) a full season, and he was on, our PP took off. I don't think that's a coincidence.

How was our team looking from top to bottom 3 years ago? Ryan Johansen? Where was Murray and Jenner? Another year for Dubi and Foligno to gel with each other and the team. Another full year of experience for Calvert and Atkinson. What if I don't think its a coincidence?

Do you think Wisniewski made Johansen and Murray better this year or the other way around?

I know you don't like hard facts, but tough luck:laugh:

In his last real full season (2010-11 with Montreal), Wiz was the best points/60min 5v4 on the Habs. He produced 4.65 pts/60min 5v5.

http://www.behindthenet.ca/nhl_stat...=5v4&f4=D&f7=60-&c=0+1+3+5+4+6+7+17+18+19+20#

He was ranked 12th overall in the league. Interesting who was 11th right in front of him at 4.68/60 minutes. Bodes well for the future.

The CBJ PP, with Wiz, JJ and Murray at the points, and with Johansen, Atkinson, Horton and hopefully another good forward to be acquired this off season, are looking very good next season.

Why upset a very nice apple cart?

I'm not CBJBrassard but probably a little bit of both.

I think The Coach's analysis confirms that JJ isn't a top 30 d-man. He's our #1, but that's a bit over his head.

Of course, if he could step up the consistency to his game, he'd be a #1, but we'll count that chicken when it hatches. JJ's never played at the true #1 level for more than a couple months at a time.

this is the first he's been called up on it...plenty of time to grow into it, he played at that level at the end of the season, and most Dmen take longer to grow up as well...

can't believe i just defended JmfJ...i feel ill
