Can’t believe people saying chabot and chychrun are pretty much the same and just keep one or the other, doesn’t really matter.
Anyway, as long as management sees the reality.
They are different but they fill a similar role.

The problem is we absolutely have to get rid of one of them: neither of them can play on the right, both make horrible mistakes at awful times, and we have too many LDs.

The first thing management needs to know is if Chychrun is interested in sticking around and at what price. If he is interested and the price fits then management needs to choose which one of Chabot or Chychrun they want to keep. Both players are moveable with different returns but honestly the return is secondary to ensuring the player the org thinks is a better fit moving forward.

He seems like a good #3D when he's on his game and he's definitely better than his play the last few games.

That said, there's a few parts of his game that are worrying long term. His weak one handed plays are very infuriating, he makes unforced boneheaded turnovers and I'm afraid if he loses a step he'll be a pretty slow player which may affect his offence and obviously his defensive play.

If you can get an RD in a deal for him you take it and run imo, would also free a lot of cap space to make other acquisitions if you don't have to re-sign him to a 7M+ multi-year deal.

This. And we can't start negotiating with Chychrun until summer. In the summer teams will be retooling and it's probably the best time to start working on a trade if that is what it comes to. The only drawback is that waiting on Chych might make us miss the UFA window. I don't think missing the TDL this year will have a big impact on his value considering the market for him might be bigger in the off season.

All that said if someone wants to overpay at the TDL, we should of course be listening.

Can we start negociating with Chychrun before Chabot's M-NTC kicks in?

We can start negotiating whenever we want, he just can't sign anything until the summer.

I believe those two things occur on the same day, July 1st. So short answer is no.

We can start negotiating whenever we want, he just can't sign anything until the summer.
You're sure it isn't in the CBA that they can't negotiate? I know your could have some backdoor talks but I thought there were restrictions on how much you can talk.

Dorion made a claim he couldn't with one of our guys coming up a while ago, but it was debunked,
Reminder #1000 of why it's nice not to have someone who gaslights the fanbase as GM. Staios either says something calculated/straight forward or says nothing at all. The verbal diarrhea from the GM no longer exists.

Pretty sure the old CBA did not allow this but the new CBA does not prohibit it in Chychrun's case. I looked for it in the CBA and could not find it... lots of gobbledy gook in there though so I may have missed it. My guess is they can negotiate but may not sign until the new season kicks in. There is no number of days window stuff for Chychrun's case. There was or is something about a window for UFAs but that's not Chychrun so I am not chasing that down lol

He’s as good as gone. Can’t say I blame him, he escaped Arizona to a worse team and Arizona is doing alright this year.

He’s probably shocked at the locker room culture and the lack of worth ethic from the squad.

Contrary to the responses above, they can negotiate with Chychrun at any time. They just can't actually sign him to an extension until July 1. A lot can change between now and July 1, which makes any sort of serious negotiations a bit premature, but they can certainly gauge Chychrun's interest in staying long-term well before July 1.
