See? This is legal. Because Zibanejad has a full NMC. It sucks because Zibanejad blows monkey chunks and I want him gone badly, but he's exercising his contractual right.

Trouba isn't.

He's being made the scapegoat for the Rangers slide, and I guess in that sense he's a convenient target. Not a top pairing guy at the stage but can help a team lower in the lineup.

Feels like Drury hates the team he's built.
This isn't the house that Jack built...

He has tried to put square pegs into round holes. Unfortunately, Drury didn't do anything to remove some of those round holes. Just kept acquiring square pieces without addressing the problem.

What’s the issue?
What am I missing?

Trouba had a NMC. Did not want to move. If he exercises his right, he is totally allowed to.

Now he has a limited no trade clause. If the suitors are on his ntc list. He can block the trade. That’s his right. No issue.

If the rangers can’t find a trade partner not on his list, they can waive him. And he can take his chances.

What is the issue with any of this?

They signed contracts, everyone knows the rules. If he wants to stay for his wife’s career or his favourite donut shop it’s irrelevant. Still his right.

If he wants to risk waivers for a better team than the ones he is being traded to. That’s ok too.

Heck waivers might be preferable for the rangers, they can get rid of his whole contract.

None of this is controversial. Adults in business making decisions

BUT. HE'S. NOT. He doesn't have a full NMC anymore. He has a limited one.

Why is this so hard to understand, my guy?

If he is refusing trades to teams he has a NTC for, how is he not still exercising his contractual rights?

The argument from you and so many of your HFNYR brethren, ever since he refused to waive in the offseason, is that he's a piece of shit for not waiving his NTC.

If he refuses to report once he's placed on waivers, the Rangers (or claiming team) can terminate his contract. He's not going to do that.

If he refuses to waive his NTC for a trade because he's exercising his contractual rights, the Rangers and their fans are just gonna have to deal with it.

The wife thing was always a poor excuse to me. When you make $8mm/yr it really aint that hard to have multiple a full time live in au pair’s to watch your kids while youre at work playing hockey and your wife is at work in her residency
That's gotta be the most miserable existence in life, besides being utterly alone. Kids are kids only once. I guarantee they have help and he kisses his family goodnight as much as he can. I admire that.

Some people have priorities and other people fill voids in their lives.

Trouba to Detroit.

I wouldn't say the scapegoat. I doubt he's the only one who will be gone by next season. He's just the first.

He would be exercising his rights by refusing a trade to a team that is on his list. And the Rangers, in turn, would exercise their right to waive him.

As I mentioned in another post, though, we don't know which teams are on his list. So, we don't really know if he is exercising his rights or not at this point. What we do know is that he has been given a choice. Accept a trade to one of the teams Drury has negotiated with or take your chances with waivers. People may call it harsh, but neither side is doing anything wrong.

And again, this all could've been avoided if Drury kept his f***ing yap shut and not leak anything to Uncle Larry.

Rangers could've waited until the day that his full NMC became a limited NTC ->

Trouba likely wouldn't have had Detroit on the list (but here I admit I am assuming because Trouba is from Michigan and grew up a Red Wings fan). ->

Drury trades Trouba to the Red Wings and POSSIBLY gets something of value back ->

Trouba either reports or bitches and moans but hey, he ain't our problem anymore ->

We probably would've won a few more games if we hadn't been forced to watch that horrendous K'Andre-Trouba pairing (and, to a lesser extent, Lindgren-Trouba pairing).

All of this could've been avoided. But loose lips sink ships.

Still pisses me off. Set aside the fact that Trouba's been mostly awful for us and his salary is an albatross on our cap, the f***er essentially rewrote his contract and throw a hissy fit and say "no, I won't report there." f*** you. You shitstain. I know you can't tell the future and you didn't anticipate your wife being a resident for an extra year, but that's your problem, not ours. This is a business. Ordinary people get fired and let go all the time due to "business reasons" or hell, for no reason at all and they don't have the luxury of having a big bank account to rely on through hard times. But this 8M a year f***head thinks he's bigger than the organization he works for and whined and bitched and took his ball and went home. What an asshole. Some captain. Worst captain since...Drury.

Like think of it in our day-to-day lives. Imagine the CEO of the company you work for says, "hey, we're drastically downsizing here, but we're opening another branch in many other states. We'd love for you to relocate there. You'd keep your lofty salary as is and everything." You can either say, "I love it here, but I understand it's a business so I'll relocate. Thanks for the accommodation" or "okay, well thank you for the opportunity, but I'd like to stay in this city as my family is here so I will just go look for another job." You don't pull a Hulk Hogan and say "that doesn't work for me, brother."
No more of this beating around the bush man. Tell us how you really feel.

Not needed as no one stated the obvious, they call it roster management, why not just say it’s a waiver placement so not to beat around the bush.

Drury needs the spotlight on himself I suppose.

No source, eh.

Alright, figured I'd ask because your post suggested it was a sure thing that Trouba would be waived at 2pm today.

Maybe he will, too, I was just curious to see if any "insiders" had reported as much.

Guess we'll find out in a couple hours.

The issue is clear. Posters here hate the Rangers and look for excuses to rag on them.

What do rangers fans have to do with contract decisions.

Trouba can refuse every trade he can legally block. Drury can find a trade he can’t, force his hand with waivers, or just waive him.

When did this part happen? I remember Trouba refusing to waive his the NMC to be traded, but I don't remember him doing or saying this part.

Not saying it didn't happen, just wondering.
