You really have no idea what you're talking about. Trouba signed an 8M per with a full NMC for the first 4 years and a limited NTC later on. You have absolutely no idea that he would've gotten more had he not signed that NTC. That's speculative, at best. 8M is a huge chunk and was more than many other players of a similar ilk were getting paid.

So again, stop the speculation and deal with the facts.

You guys took us to the woodshed...
Trade definitely worked in our favour

Still pisses me off. Set aside the fact that Trouba's been mostly awful for us and his salary is an albatross on our cap, the f***er essentially rewrote his contract and throw a hissy fit and say "no, I won't report there." f*** you. You shitstain. I know you can't tell the future and you didn't anticipate your wife being a resident for an extra year, but that's your problem, not ours. This is a business. Ordinary people get fired and let go all the time due to "business reasons" or hell, for no reason at all and they don't have the luxury of having a big bank account to rely on through hard times. But this 8M a year f***head thinks he's bigger than the organization he works for and whined and bitched and took his ball and went home. What an asshole. Some captain. Worst captain since...Drury.

Like think of it in our day-to-day lives. Imagine the CEO of the company you work for says, "hey, we're drastically downsizing here, but we're opening another branch in many other states. We'd love for you to relocate there. You'd keep your lofty salary as is and everything." You can either say, "I love it here, but I understand it's a business so I'll relocate. Thanks for the accommodation" or "okay, well thank you for the opportunity, but I'd like to stay in this city as my family is here so I will just go look for another job." You don't pull a Hulk Hogan and say "that doesn't work for me, brother."
NHL players are not day to day people. They have a talent that is not easily replaced. (Yeah, I know in this case the “talent” is arguable.). But you can’t lump them into an ordinary world.

Choose an option or buy a bib. Idk what else to tell ya.

So is it safe to assume he will only go somewhere decently close to NY?
His agreeable list probably included NYI, NJ, probably most of the Metro teams. Speaking to NYI specifically, they already have three regulars on RD signed and likely didn't have an appetite for helping NYR out of their mess. Would imagine NJ feels similarly.

Trouba's trade protection is limited to 15 teams. That protection doesn't stop the team from waiving him. The Rangers could have waived him and been done with it, as apparently there is at least one team that is willing to take him on waivers. Instead, they negotiated with teams and are offering Trouba a choice of destination. That's better for the team and better for Trouba.

So, what exactly is your beef with it? We don't even know which teams are on his no trade list. It could be that one or more of the interested teams are not on his list.

Teams are under no obligation to keep a player until his contract ends. If a trade can be worked out, they have every right to trade him. If the player has trade protection, he has the right to use that protection. If the player isn't protected from waivers, the team has the right to waive him. That's what was negotiated and that is what is happening. This is in no way unfair to Trouba.

Players can ask for whatever they want in negotiations. It doesn't mean they will get it, or that the teams won't ask them to take less money/term in exchange for those added protections.

Everyone on HF said that no UFAs would sign with the Rangers after what they did to Redden. Guess what? It didn't change a thing. The Rangers have a reputation for treating their players well. Too bad if they have to be a bit harsh when it comes time for a divorce. That's just the nature of the business.
You’ve lost the plot.

I have no beef with the rangers exercising their contractural rights.

A lot of your fellow fans in here have significant beef with trouba exercising his.

Trouba? Talent? Ehhhh. Haha, I get your point though...kinda.

Trouba earned his NTC and has all the right to say no, even if he gets waived. NYR signed the contract

It's a limited NTC and he threatened not to report anywhere. He can be waived. So yeah, gloves are off. Unlike Trouba, the Rangers are operating legally.

It’s part of the business. He choose his destination nearing FA and now he’s being sent elsewhere because he doesn’t produce enough for his cap hit.

He’s a perfectly good stopgap for teams exiting their rebuild who need to shelter kids.

He hasn’t been very good this but so has 90% of the NYR players. He’s still someone who can play top 4 and eat 20-22 minutes a night.

As I said, overpaid? Yes. Useless? No.
I never said he was useless either....I said he isnt a top 4. If he is used as a top 4, that just means the team is devoid of top 4 defenseman. You can surely play him lots of minutes, but you will pay the price for that.

Perhaps I am not understanding your use of "top 4"....if you go by minutes, then maybe you have a point.....if you go by talent and performance......nope.

BUT. HE'S. NOT. He doesn't have a full NMC anymore. He has a limited one.

Why is this so hard to understand, my guy?

Curious if we’ll see Trouba waived, picked up by a team on his NT list, then that team does a trade for future considerations with the NYR
