It definitely has to be a little bit of a concern, he gets injured every season:

Is health protocols really an injury though?

Why do you doubt this one isnt serious?

They have said week to week not day to day.

Lindy said they're on the positive side of day-to-day and Marty came out said it wasn't serious as well. Devils don't deserve any favors in regards to their injury designations as any Devils fan can attest to but it doesn't sound as dire as his previous ones.

I guess we are going to find out how much of a Hart candiate Hughes really was. Depending on how the Devils play without him, he either falls out of contention or solidifies his spot as runner up to McDavid

*Caught COVID at the All-Star Game
4/5/22 - 13 game (he was shutdown by the Devils, could have played through this)

So - he fell on his shoulder once, and then had his knee twisted up awkwardly in the boards once. And that's it, unless you want to say that catching COVID and an NHL event makes him injury prone.

Everyone loses a couple games here and there, it's not that big of a deal. Only 45 players in the league played the whole 82 games last season - it's a physical league and guys get banged up, shit happens.

Is this really going to be the narrative now? All the people who were wrong about Hughes and said he was a bust are now going to claim that he's made of glass and therefore still sucks?

He didnt take any hit in the game vs the Canucks.

My guess is its from the All Star game and he tried to play through it during the Canucks game but it flared up afterwards and the team is not messing around taking any chances.
yea bit there is no reaction...ive never seen anyone injure a shoulder and there be no visible reaction. youd at least notice the arm hanging a bit or a facial expression telling you something happened when you go back and look at the play. not saying its impossible, but think theres a better chance of the boys getting waffled after the game monday and him taking a spill or something stupid like that than it being that play.

Does one become injury-prone or is one injury-prone or not injury-prone?

Both I think. You can be naturally prone to injuries but if you get injured enough you can become inury prone for different reasons.

You could re-injure the same body part or because of injuries you put more strain on healthy parts causing them to become pver stressed and damage is more common to them.

Did that with my Knee, good knee would get sore cause I relied on it too much when I hurt my bad knee.

I dont think anyone is claiming that he sucks but that injury list isnt really a narrative, its a consistent pattern.

Not sure why it's a reach when there was no noticeable play in the most recent game that would've caused an injury and Jack was on the ice for the OT winner.

for me its a reach because theres absolutely no reaction on the play. if youve ever separated or dislocated a shoulder or seen someone do it, you know something happened. even if they get up and try to stay in the play for a second, if you looked back youd be able to see it in their face and/or the arm hanging etc...none of that there. not saying impossible, just saying theres quite a few other things that coulda happened id put a higher probability on. especially when you consider he played 2 days later and appeared to have no issues shooting or handling the puck moving it wide to either side etc. devils woulda held him then too if they were being cautious and used practice to see how he responded.

We don't even know how long he has been out. He missed 8 games his first two years. If he misses 5 games this year, it's just not really that big of a deal. Year three where he missed 30+ games is the outlier compared to the rest of his career.

Of course Marty and the Devils will say that, why would they say that its a serious injury? That would only put a big target on Hughes for opponents to go after his shoulder in the playoffs.

I'm fine waiting to see how long he misses, but missing any games for Hughes who has injured his shoulder before is always concerning whether he misses 1, 5 or more.

I'd say he mildly strained something on the Tkachuk play, he played through it Monday and it got worse, tried it in practice and it felt worse.

We've got a cushion, we'd like him to be healthy for playoffs, shut him down until there's no pain.

As far as it being a concern, hell yes. Devil's fans saying it isn't is whistling through a graveyard.

He's just 21 and doesn't have his man strength yet. He got pounded around as an 18 yr old who didn't see the hits coming but yeah we'd like to keep him in the ice please. He isn't bull like, as McJesus.

OK, well I guess if what Brodeur and Ruff are saying in regards to his injury isn't good enough for you, then I don't know what to tell you. You'll just believe whatever you want to believe anyway.

Because he played after this happened. Always have to blame someone eh. He finished the ASG too.

Actions should always weigh more than words. Thats why i said im fine waiting to see how many games he misses to see how bad the injury is.

but i also said, whether its 1,5 or more..... any Hughes injury especially in an area that has been injured before should always be considered "Serious"

Okay lets say thats not how he got injured,

so now he has a non contact- week to week injury?? Thats even worse

It's 100% a concern, but it depends on how many he misses.

If he misses like 5 games or if every year he's playing 75 games, I'm honestly not going to be that concerned about it. If he's missing 20 games a season, it's an issue.
As long as the time missed doesn't stop them from making the playoffs and he is as healthy as one could be for the playoffs it shouldn't be an issue.

And he was on the ice at the end of the last Devils game after missing some shifts earlier in the game. So unless something happened off the ice (doubtful) there's a good chance he either got injured in the ASG or Devils game against Vancouver and played through some pain/discomfort before making the decision to shut it down for a couple weeks and fully recover.

Happens all the time. Dont pretend to know everything that happened during the game on monday or in practice.

Its an ASG if he was hurt he would have stopped.

This could be very minor and more of precautionary. If there’s a risk that it could get worse why not just sit him out and let it heal. Devils are in a strong spot and now they can evaluate the teams play without their #1 star.

I don’t see a a single person “blaming” Tkachuk. They’re just trying to figure out where he might of been hurt and that seems like the most likely that anyone can figure out.

You’re outraged over nothing. No one’s blaming Tkachuk or calling him dirty.

It was completely asinine and unnecessary in an ASG though I’ll say. Like what the hell was his objective there?
