The team physician is selected by the team and paid by the team. If you're truly a lawyer, you know that presents an inherent conflict of interest - one that would not be permitted in most places (without an informed waiver) if we were talking about a lawyer rather than a doctor.
And to be blunt, the team doctor hired by the team has every incentive and motivation to make the company that hired him happy - particularly when the doctor has been (or is) the team doctor for an extended term (which is the case here). I believe the doctors in this case long time doctors for the team (and the bills too?). You don't think they have financial and other allegiances to the team?
not true.
the team physician is a licensed independent doctor who sees other patients.
the team can have their own team doctor who is more likely a general medicine doctor or a nurse practitioner but they don’t treat major injuries. The team also has employed people like nutritionists and physical therapy personnel.
it violates medical ethics codes for them to do a team thing and toe a line.
Unlike lawyers, medical doctors actually have ethics and can have license suspended for these violations.
