Coronato is pretty dynamic, Zary is a big C, and Pelletier made a WJ team.

Honestly, they can have all of them, plus one of Dube or Mangiapane, plus this year’s 1st.

Is that enough to overcome the legend of Peyton Krebs?

I don’t see how it’s acceptable to hand Jack Eichel to your division rival (in a division that already has McDrai) because you weren’t willing to pay an extra future or two.

One of the other changes for Calgary from talks before the season and now is Kylington looks great with a top 4 role on the team, which could make Valimaki available who's been a pretty coveted target in the past (Mark Stone). I could see Buffalo wanting him included rather than getting just forwards from the trade.

We're pretty loaded with young D (Dahlin, Jokiharju, Power, Johnson, Samuelsson, Laaksonen, Bryson). There might be room for another righty in there, but forwards, centers especially, are a far greater need. Young roster players or good prospects are obviously ideal.

That said, maybe we move Johnson in an Eichel deal to get a good prospect at a position of more need.

Something like Eichel and Johnson for Newhook, Girard, Compher, Barron/Helleson and a conditional pick.

Expectations on the Eichel return seem to have come a long way from 2021 3OA+Drysdale+Comtois (some Sabres fans were even expecting Drysdale + Zegras).
I never saw Drysdale and Zegras. If there was it was maybe one poster. Krebs is still the target.

Yeah I probably undersold it. Girard would be much better than Kadri obviously. But can he play his off side? We're really full of LHDs.

Keep in mind that with Dahlin/Power/Samuelsson/Johnson coming, we're likely asking one of them to switch to RD anyways (likely Dahlin). Adding a guy like Girard would force ANOTHER lefty to the right side. A 4/2 imbalance isn't terrible, but 5/1 is/would be concerning.

Oh, it was out there. There were several Sabres fans who were adamant that 2 or 3 "bluest of blue chips" would be coming back in a trade for Jack.

I can easily imagine they're still out there.
They aren't very knowledgeable if that was the case. I've followed this thread pretty closely and don't recall seeing it. Anyway, it doesn't matter, it doesn't matter what people think, what matters is what the Sabres get.

I don't mean to say anything on what anyone has heard but I have a hard time seeing Vegas be a fit unless they could Kucherov Eichel until the playoffs.

Our forwards would be rough looking until December when Pacioretty should be back, although Stone may be back a week or two before.

Janmark-Stephenson-Roy
Marchessault-Karlsson-???
Dugan-Patrick-Kolesar
Carrier-Howden-Leschyshyn

If they trade Smith and Dadonov to make the money work, while including Krebs, all for Eichel, who can't even play for at least four months, our forward group would be makeshift to say the least.

We would also need to trade Janmark when Tuch is healthy to stay under. I mean, if you add Eichel, Stone, Pacioretty and Tuch to that forward group up top minus Janmark it looks great but we'd have to wait until after the Olympic break to see it. I don't know if teams are willing to roll the dice for like 55 games of the season like that.
I can definitely see Buffalo sending an active player like Hinostoza at 50% along with Eichel to Vegas.

Because the names out there aren't anything close to that package, unless I missed something. Most of the rumored names from the summer - Smith, Krebs, Hague + 1st are still being reported by Friedman.

I don't think Vegas would move Smith with all their injuries on the wing. He should be kept as an own rental.

Is Krebs still off the table? Last I heard Vegas wasn’t willing to budge on him

Coronato, Zary, Pelletier, Mangiapane and a 1st results in me tracking down Eichel, kidnapping him, and driving him to wherever Calgary would be at the time and dropping him off to the Flames.

There were a lot expecting Zegras + Drysdale + 3rd overall +.

I was one definitely saying that, but as a “what I want from Anaheim” and not a “what Anaheim HAS to give up”. Then again, if the roles were reversed, you’d be the same way.

That being said, I was also posting “what I’d settle for” trades, where one of those pieces was involved.

I don’t think Mangiapane is going anywhere. He is driving the bus for the Flames with 7 goals after lighting up the WCs last year.

Zary, Coronoto, Pelletier and a 1st is a big time offer though. That is 4 1st round pieces and Coronoto is nicknamed “The Bison” so he would fit like a glove.:D

If you paid attention, it was one of Dube or Mangiapane. So I went with Mangia Cake. I don’t actually expect him back, or all of those pieces.

Plus to make the trade happen, I’d have to commit a few international and federal felonies.

I think the only issue is whatever Calgary trades him, they will be without for months while he heals. So any roster player they move out will hurt the team in the now until Eichel is back.

They can manage. Mangiapane is having a great start - I think he’s the definition of someone you sell High on.

Lindholm/Backlund/Dube down the middle can get you through to the Olympic break or whenever Eichel comes back. You won’t be first, but some think losing Monahan + Mangiapane makes them a lottery team, and I don’t.

It’s 2-4 months of waiting for Goku, and then you have Jack Eichel until he’s 29 minimum.

Why would Buffalo want Monahan though?

We'd need to take back Compher+Kadri (or something financially equivalent) to reach the salary floor.

Newhook+Compher+Kadri+a 1st maybe? I kinda hate it but I haven't really looked closely at Colorado through this process.

Yeah, if that was the case this would be done already. Kadri is a free agent too but can be sold at the trade deadline for an asset or two I guess. (Or keep him for the playoff run).

Jeez, I’m glad Buffalo didn’t trade for Gibson and Comtois like I predicted a thousand posts ago. They both look like garbage this season.

Gibson has been ok, he has had a couple bad moments. Comtois does look like garbage, but he’s 22 and it’s only been 6 games. Hopefully he wakes up soon.

Would you swap Johnson for Peterka? LHD not really a need for the Avs either.
