If that is the case, what in the world are the sabres waiting for? LOL you think the Sabres have perspective to avoid a PR nightmare....do you even follow the team?
Sounds like you haven't been following the situation based on your question. First the Sabres wanted to see if rehab and rest would improve and heal the neck... when that didn't work it sounds like the Sabres worked the trade front leading up to the draft but just weren't getting the offers they needed. There became a pissing contest with Jacks agents which got both parties additional weeks. Jack changed agents to Brisson who sought additional medical details and started dialog with Adams. Sabres were/are hoping to punt the surgery to the new team but that seems unlikely at this point unless Brisson can convince one team in the West to pull the trigger. There could be meetings between the Sabres physicians and Jacks doctors as we speak.

If buffalo was ok with the surgery jack wants it would have happened months ago. If they decide to cave on that now that would be admitting wasting months of time for no good reason.

Absolutely zero of this supports your statement that Buffalo would cave now on the ADR (when they could have done that months ago and perhaps salvaged the relationship or been able to trade him by now). Also, none of this supports that Buffalo is able to avoid a PR nightmare, that much is already done.

How am I supposed to support anything. NOBODY know. It's my best guess to maximize the return with a health Eichel. Don't spin it otherwise.

I'm not trying to support anything. Just stating the timeline and where I think it's going next. I might be right. I might be wrong but if they want a premium return for Eichel the logical approach in my mind is to allow the ADR. Adams hasn't told me anything.

Will fix everything
What's frustrating for me as a Sabres fan is that the Sabres have had basically two options since the offseason since June:

A) Allow Eichel to get the surgery he wants
B) Trade Eichel someplace to allow him to get the surgery he wants.

That's it. Those options haven't changed. If they aren't going to do A, they needed to grease the skids to get B done in a timely fashion so they would be able to maximize the return. They've limited the number of bidders by waiting this long and likely hurt the return.

I think part of the issue here is Adams, to be frank, doesn't have a NHL GM resume. Never worked in a front office before at any level. He appears to be in over his head and only real talent is sticking to pre-approved talking points during pressers and repeating the same phrase over and over again.

i can promise you theyll never get both if fiala and greenway are in the package (which theyd need to be)

Fiala would have to be sent to a third team. A third team is probably needed for cap reasons anyway. I doubt Adams wants to be in another Reinhart situation with Fiala at this point of a rebuild.

And yet you can state emphatically that there is a zero percent chance Eichel sits out this year?

Reinhart spent 6 fruitless seasons in Buffalo. Fiala has not, and is reputed to be looking for a long term contract. If MN is going to make a deal his salary probably has to be included, as otherwise there is no chance that they can take on Eichel's cap hit. If the deal could've been done before the Seattle ED, then Dumba could've been part of the deal, but that ship has sailed.

At some point KA has to get actual good players, not just prospects. It's not like Fiala is old and washed up, or overpaid.

is the answer jesus

Reinhart had a pretty damn good situation playing in Buffalo riding shotgun with Eichel, sure the teams were bad, but he made himself a lot of money being one of the key cogs in our lineup.
I have no problem taking on Fiala, the problem becomes Wild fans then view him as the centerpiece to the deal and Buffalo's needs at Center and RD don't get addressed. Buffalo is then put into a situation next offseason where they have to pay yet another winger huge money with considerable term. So sure, he's not overpaid, at least not just yet, but Buffalo will be the team that will have to hand him the huge contract with term that buys almost all UFA years. I just don't think that's what they want as the centerpiece in a trade for their franchise center.

Like I said, a third team would be involved and they would acquire Fiala.

This is nothing against Fiala. It's more about the situation the Sabres are in. They just tore everything down. They aren't in position to negotiate a fair long term contract which Fiala will require soon.

They just let Dahlin walk to one year before UFA because they had no leverage. I know if I was a good player there's no way in hell I'd sign a long term deal with the Sabres right now without a massive overpayment.
