Confirmed with Link: Ivan Provorov traded to CBJ (via LA) - 1st, 2 2nds, Petersen, Walker, Grans to Philly

Pretty good trade for us...also I think the Blue Jackets did well getting Provs....he likely will bounce back there I reckon....but I don't really see what LA gets out of this save for getting rid of some salary....I think they look the worse out of this deal....

I think everyone got what they wanted.

CBJ is all in with JG and Babcock, Provorov gives them a young D-man who should rebound and help a PO run.
LA got the cap relief they needed for a 2nd and a solid prospect who is blocked by two better young RHDs.
Briere got a great haul without restricting his flexibility (cap or ability to retain) to make further deals.

On paper, a win-win for all parties.
Given the moving parts (3 teams, getting LA to retain for CBJ), a pretty complex deal to start Briere's career. Which shows he's a pretty sharp operator.

I would think CBJ is going to come back to us for a Hayes deal, if they're going for it, they need more offense, and JG/Hayes were dominant in college together - Roslovic is expendable with the emergence of Johnson at C. CBJ has $12M in cap room, so Flyers will have to retain/take back a contract to close a deal.

A racist who gets in fights with teammates. We could outright release him, still pay his remaining salary and have his cap count against our cap and we would be better off moving forward than if he was allowed inside the Flyers facility.

I would love this so much, because of the delicious spite, but I hope (and expect) that they will get something for him. If Torts can shut his whore mouth for five seconds and stop tanking his value further.

We already know that there are GMs out there that don't care about that stuff
They cared enough given the deal he signed in Carolina, but they won’t now since by all accounts he has been well-behaved since. We know Torts is banging the table in Voorhees to get him moved though.

Can I call this mid? It feels very mid. Unless they somehow flip Petersen and get more draft picks or something.

Mid is a massive upgrade on what we are used to so it feels great. It's also hilarious that Fletcher's coffee boy has just proven he can orchestrate a more basically competent trade than he ever could.
