Rocket doesn't play until Friday. Primeau gets next game for a surgical tank vs Wings then goes back down.
Saw that but there may also be an issue with Allen. If there is, Primeau would be deemed an emergency call-up and wouldn’t count as a regular call-up. Habs had 4 call-up options and have used 3 already. They would certainly prefer keeping that last one in their back pocket in case.

Could it be possible that a potential trade partner wants to see him play?

Matias Brunet not high on PLD today; writing people should temper their enthusiasm for the 69th scorer in the league… He’s not wrong, kid will have a lot of people staring at him expecting production!

There are always prospects and young players left over from the previous regime when a new general manager takes over , it's the same for every team , it isn't indicative of the first 3-4 years of a rebuild in progress . Bergevin built the team that made it to the cup finals in 2021 and was fired early the following season after a terrible start . Full stop . The players you mention are proof that he participated in drafts , made trades and contributed to the day to day running of the organization , again not indicative of the first 3-4 years of a rebuild in progress . Does he get credit for the acquisitions (not Dach) ? Of course he does but those acquisitions were made to stock/restock the farm , not to begin a rebuild , that started when GMKH was hired in Jan./22 .
I disagree. Bergevin always straddled the fence, running his arse hole right along the spikes, hoping not to fall too heavily at any given time.

The tran sucked badly and we still got decent picks away from the late 20s, except when we got the unlikely run to the SCFs, but that's also when Bergevin went against common sense and chose the much maligned Mailloux who was projected much higher than he was chosen in the draft.

along the way, Bergevin also refused to sell off futures to raise the odds of competing, using, rather, the UFA market, for the most part to add bodies on the way to the SCFs and beyond, into the next season.

The rebuild was on at the same time as he chased a Stanley Cup dream and that was precisely his downfall, the inability to commit, one way or the other.

People should expect what he's been so far: a 60-65 pts 200-feet forward.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect more...
Because he's still young and has had periods where he's been more, such as the first 50 games of this year before he got injured. Dan Robertson, who watches him every game, thinks there may be more.

Do you watch him every game?

PK said it best, if you show up to play every night you’re gonna be fine in MTL.

For all the Habs coverage in MTL, it’s incredible how poor the content is. Brunet is not the worst one but more and more it’s evident that media are disconnected from what fans actually think / want.

The issue won’t be his production, it’s what we will give up in assets / cap hit to acquire him that matters, no one is expecting a 40g PPG player.

Trade Xhekaj or Mailloux to get PLD and you will have a sh*t storm. Trade Kidney and no one will care (even if it might be a worse mistake down the road).

That he shows more sometimes doesn't mean he's going to achieve constancy one day. That's the trap people fell in when they expected Drouin to be star.

Also, Dubois won't have a Kyle Connor to play with on the Habs...

Play all 3 of Dach, Suzuki, and Dubois at center, give Dach and Dubois some double shifts at center, and have them all on the PP.

I want all our young wingers playing with better offensive C's than Dvorak, so it would be great to go Suzuki-Dach-Dubois down the middle. If he were to stay, I even think Dvorak could he a better offensive and defensive winger than guys like Gurianov amd maybe even Josh Anderson.
Suzuki-Dach-Dubois down the middle.

With all due respect, that makes no sense, Mats.

Dubois is the new, highly paid arrival and you play him as a third line C. I know you are giving he and Dach double shifts with fourth liners, but, seriously?

You are just setting it up so that Dubois won't live up to his contract, even if he plays on the 1st PP wave with Suzuki and Dach.

If you're not going to play him as a C in the top-6, at least play him and a power winger there, double shifting him at C on the third line.

You could double shift Dach on the fourth line, with him entering the 2nd line.

Caufield - Suzuki - Heineman
Dubois - Dach - Anderson
Slafkovsky - Dubois - RHP
Armia - Dach - Gallagher (Stuck with Armia and Gallagher)

Ylonen, Hoffman, Pizza-Man, Pitlick (lots of folks in the stands - half these guys)

Matheson - Savard
Guhle - Barron
Xhekaj - Harris
Kovacevic

And next year will be a development year
What do you (and others) think a development year is?

Because, the next three years should be development years, if only because of where our younger players are in their development and how many more will be joining the ranks over that time frame -- Even if Dubois joins the Habs in the offseason.

We could even make the playoffs in a development year (but not likely next year, or the year after)! A development year has a lot to do with learning from experience and not playing hard nose with youngsters that make mistakes, provided they are at play TRYING NOT TO REPEAT THE SAME MISTAKES OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

There will be more development going on beyond those three years, but the D should be getting set by then and the top-9 should be getting set as well, with rotating parts of a 4th line finding their place.

I'm more concerned about the starting G in three years because I have little distinctive conviction whom it might be from the present information and players on hand.

Fixed - the brut “power” aspect dimension of PLDs game makes him valuable to Habs. As a C that power game complements Suzuki’s.

At the end of the day, team building for playoffs is all about making opposition game planning as difficult as possible

I agree. The upside is the bonus, though, because assuming he can't improve makes no sense for a 24-yr-old who hasn't stagnated or regressed yet.

Drouin is Drouin. Dach is Dach. Dubois is Dubois. Robertson said Dubois was consistent before the injury.

How many complete games have you watched Dubois play this year?
