I said this the moment his agent told the press that he wanted to play for the Habs. Bullshit
You guys do realize the Pat Brisson is a really good friend of Kent Hughes right?
This isn’t amateur hour with bargainbin
The duo of Gorton and Hughes get tons of respect throughout the NHL

To WPG: Mailloux, Ylonen, FLA 1st
To MTL: PLD
Draft Reinbacher
Two things drastically wrong here

1. The Habs are NOT trading Mailloux ( if you really knew this player you wouldn’t have him in your trade proposals )

2. The Habs will not trade for a Defenseman this year when 6 out of the top 10 in 2024 draft are defensemen.

Reports were Winnipeg asked for Dach. Hughes said no. Hughes countered with a deal around Anderson and Dvorak. Winnipeg said no.

Honestly, I don't think Winnipeg had much of an appetite to move below a Dach type of return that early in the process. Vilardi + is the type of return they were hoping to get, I suspect.

I would have also say no. Anderson a 35pts and Dvorak another 35pts player for PLD..... I would have gone with LA. If Florida missed the playoff, we could have used it to trade for PLD.

I doubt Mailloux has any real value right now. he's not clear yet to play in the NHL and he seen as an incomplete project. he's most likely more valuable at this state to MTL the WIN

LA's offer of a 35 point forward and Vilardi who never plays a full season and could be done at any time? The best choice is to rebuild but if they don't have the guts for that then I would take Anderson, Dvorak and a draft choice.

You would be wrong. I am sure Mailloux has a lot of trade value.

I was listening to DFO rundown podcast with Seravelli and he seemed to be pumping the breaks big time on the PLD and LA talk.

Seems like he said, they talked but the jets talked to a lot of teams.

IMO this trade is less along than people think.

No shot this trade isn't done before the 1st round ends on Wednesday

Vilardi is only 23 years old. His potential is still better than Anderson. Let bot also forget the huge contract of both Anderson and Dvorak, LA deal is better.

We can always get a rough idea. For instance I think Bergevin was wrong not to acquire Ryan O'Reilly out of Buffalo when he had the opportunity -- Price and Weber weren't getting younger. We don't know the equivalent pieces but we know the need was there, but not the will.

In this case, Vilardi = Dach. If Vilardi is in the trade I can see why the Habs wouldn't do the deal with Dach in it. Iafello is less interesting, likely no more than a makeweight at this point. Cap is scarce and the Kings would be up against it if they signed PLD, they have many spots to fill.

I'd rather do [Dvorak + [CGY 1st]] in place of Vilardi and [[Heineman/Ylonen/etc] + Hoffman] in place of Iafello. I dunno how that shakes out. I have no idea what's in the discussions between them.
It seems the Jets don't want to rely on a draft pick, especially not a likely 2025 pick..

Not when you’re a rebuilding team with 2 RHD in the pipeline.
Mailloux is expendable if you still have Barron and you keep all your firsts.

Somewhere on earth in a hospital
I Hope everyone here is smart enough to recognize this is a typical Bergevin move
Trying to give up way to much to acquire a player he believes is a super star.
Although PLD won’t sign an extension with LA
He still has to meet with them since Brisson and Bergevin set this up.
Hughes and Gorton are NOT going to do the bargain bin method.
They have set an offer they find fair for a 60-70 point player they that and won’t give up prospects for him.
The rumours of Dach for him are laughable!!
Dach will be twice the player PLD will be.
I was certain the Habs we’re getting PLD but had forgotten that Bergevin is now making decisions some where else ;)
Can't wait to see Dach putting 120 points a year

That's a monster deal.

I don't see the fit between Hellebuyck and the Habs personally. Doesn't seem to mesh with how Hughes sees this going. But let's break this trade down:

Monty - GK with upside, could be a cheap surprise as a 1a type
Barron - Good NHL prospect, seasoned, on the verge of being a NHLer
Dvorak - we know what he is
RHP - cheap sparkplug type who scored at a nearly 50 point pace, could be their Paul Byron
Ylonen - tweener
Mesar - recent 1st round pick who had a brutal season

I feel like distinguishing them as follows:

Monty, RHP, Barron -> Nearly NHLers with upside for more
Ylonen -> irrelevant, not interesting to WPG
Dvorak -> NHLer with a bad cap hit making him a neutral value asset
Mesar -> recent skill prospect who's lost a lot of value in a short amount of time

I'm not sure if WPG wants this but it seems like there's value there. It's too diffuse though, it hurts our depth (Dvorak, RHP and Barron would've been in the NHL this year with us) and doesn't help their inexplicable goal to keep competing. Doesn't scratch anybody's back.
