It's been clear for while. If he wanted to be a Hab, he'd be one by now. I wish LA the best with a $9 million # 2 center that will cost them their first born. Thankfully Bergevin is no longer running the show in Montreal.

The problem is reportedly the ajets don't want Futures. Now if I was PLD I'd give the Jets a hard time about that in terms of going to other teams.

I told you my preference, give you other options, you almost immediately rule out my first choice unless they give you something you know they won't trade? To me that's also bad faith on the jets part.

Vastly overpaid No 2 center with history of asking for trades when things don't go his way or you throw the wad at Draisaitl? Easy decision

PLD is not worth $9M imo. Dr. Drai is going to be wanting a max contract or very close to it but as we've seen, he's worth every penny. What worries me is in that season he'll be 29 and will be wanting a 7 year deal. Not sure I could justify doing it at that price. Would love to have him on our team though.

So many fans simply refuse to understand that each player must perform "above their salary value" in order to stand a chance at a cup run.

Never confuse the real message: if a player truly wanted to "win" with a team (any team) they would not take top dollar. In PLD case, if he wants $9+M this only hurts the team he apparently loves so much. Winning a cup and greed do not mix, ever.
If Toronto extends Matthews to $14m/yr x 8, this will kill any chance they have... full stop. It infuriates the room, alienates linemates, and creates a two tiered system. DOA.
