If he signs a long term deal with a different team while one year away from UFA, then I don't see how it could be.

Chevy does not have the leverage to make that kind of pitch — not with PLD significantly favouring MTL for a move.

But the cap isn't 100M yet, Habs should avoid to be the one setting the trend for now.

We 100% can if we want to. We can throw two of Harris, Barron, Xhekaj, Norlinder, etc. into a package without hurting too much. Plus vets/ cap dumps like Hoffman, Dvorak, Anderson, Allen,etc. Plenty of picks to play with as well. We have the assets, it's a matter of wanting the guy bad enough.
