Our value for PLD got completely screwed with the Panthers run past the 2nd round.
It also got screwed up with Dubois demanding a trade now. Would have been much better had he waited and gotten traded as a rental at the deadline.

Not true, at C, Dach was playing 20 minutes a night. Ottawa’s coach even said Dach is the guy they were trying to contain.

They were trying to contain......and who do you think was trying to contain Ottawa's top line?
That's my point actually

Unless I'm missing something, how does LA even afford him and a goalie? If it was the year after, Kopitar's 10 million comes off the books which makes sense, but as of now, I don't see it.

LA paid to dump Cal Petersen to Philly to have the space cap to re-sign Gavrikov because despite their $7m of free cap most of it is probably planned to go to Vilardi's new contract (he's RFA) and a goalie.

They don't have the cap space for Dubois without trading another big contract. Technically, the Habs don't either without Price on LTIR.

How many here thinks Slafkovsky will become a bonafide 60-65 points winger?
I know pre-draft most says that is was probably his ceiling if he ever reach it....

PLD could still hit 80+ pts as soon as next season.

With the cap going up, it's going to take a higher cap hit.

9 is still an overpayment imo.

Probably ~8.5 is "market value".

I do wonder how Dubois would look offensively under MSL, or even just on a different team.

The reports that Jets aren't really interested in a rebuild was even with the possibilities of Hellebuyck and Scheifele, as well as possibly Wheeler being traded. The first two both being a year away from UFA.

All of them can bring in roster players, as well as picks and prospects. Jets would be able to get a little bit of everything with these assets.

The whole "not willing to rebuild" wasn't limited to PLD only.
They are so poised for a rebuild with all their aging UFAs - but apparently 'their market won't accept that' but I call BS, just like they said about Habs. Fans want a good team built well not bubble gum and cardboard fixes. Don't think this will go well for the Jets, and I don't think the Habs will pay the assets for PLD.

Well thing changed in the sense it's not about being interested in doing something or not.
Hellebuyck isn't a possibility anymore, the door is officially shut. They have 2 hot potatoes, maybe 3, to deal with now. And if they whiff this off-season they will forced into a rebuild, interested or not.
It’s not a GM making the decision, it’s an ownership mandate… they already l’aise the groundwork last year by whining publicly of the need to increase season tix base

I doubt anyone goes around pointing this out and saying Ovechkin dogs it.

They used to though. Ovechkin used to be ripped for this sort of stuff. He also didn't do this in a context where he wanted to be traded. That was PLDs last game with Columbus.

It's not really a decision if it's the results of your trades not panning out.

So what's your expectations for PLD without a top10 winger like Connor? Not to mention our perrenial bottom of the barrell PP no matter the coach since Makov retired.

55pts? Dach is almost there for 1/3 of the cap.

He’ll hit his 60pts, that I have no doubt about it. Could be a bit more or slightly less.

Playing with high talented players helps, but opportunities that he will get being the third best forward on the team will also help him.

He did have 49 points in 70 games in Columbus with Bjorkstrand (who only played 49 games) as his best linemate. I'd say he's a safe bet to hit minimum 60 with Cole and Nick.

I'd like to hold onto Beck too. But if Chevy calls Hugo and says....this is the final offer....31st + Beck, you guys would say no?

...I'd try my damndest to change Beck to Calgary's 1st, Kidney, & Dvorak for the salary dump and say:

So your telling us Caufield can’t replace what Kyle Connor does ?

And by the way, his common lineman this year where Blake Wheeler and Cole Perfetti

He was the best Jet for the first half of the season ( before hes injury ) and he can produce the same with Caufield/Suzuki

i think he hits 70 if he stays healthy

Since his first full season, Connor is the 7th best scorer in the league.

Maybe Caufield gets there in time, but Connor has truly pushed the pace. And Caufield is expected to play on Suzuki’s wing.

I’m not worried about Dubois production, he’ll get his 60pts one way or an other.

Caufield has 48 goals in hes last 83 games ( since MSL ) and Dubois would play with Cole and Suzuki he would fit perfectly next to them

Slafkovsky - Dach - Anderson would be our 2nd line

well my personel top 6 lol

He might play on the wing, and I’d push for it as I like Dach at center a lot. Dach’s ability to get the puck in the offensive zone will be valuable for who his teammates will be.

I have no doubt Caufield will score a lot of goals in this league, but let him get a track record first. For all we know, he might never reach numbers like that again.
