No you don't just do it, the deal has to work.

He is not all that and a bag of chips, 2,500 posts in one month on a second line center, but no it's not
because he is from around here. OK

If Meier was in the same position as Dubois and indicated he wanted to play for the Habs the thread would probably be similar. Although there would be a tendancy to believe a French Canadian.

I've been big on moving PLD to wing. But I wonder if we would consider him and Suzuki Sharing Centre duties on the same line having both play a hybrid role of sorts depending on where faceoffs are taken and matches by game.

I think that if Habs do acquire PLD and have Suzuki and Dach, they have a lot of options

Portzline was referring to the trade request when PLD was in Columbus, not with the Jets. And Dach was, at that point, obviously not a Hab.
His attendance at the draft was for sure in anticipation of a potential trade to the Habs on the draft floor. Not to mention his insistence on settling for one-year contracts.

Ok but did he have to be in the building for when The trade was called? Was he anticipating that he was going to do a WWE intro at the Bell centre during the draft?

Bettman: We have a trade to announce.

So what ?
WTF is the problem with fans ??? ( I talking at large, not about you CHwest )

What now ? we can't discuss more about a Québec born player, because that hurts the feelings of frustrated haters that are counting the number of posts and telling us it's too much ?

Just put the conversation on your ignore list and let us talking about what we want , as much as we want. Go away !

There’s a dozen other mentions of him wanting to be in Montreal from various writers including Arpon Basu/Murat Ates who wrote that PLD attended last years start thinking he was being acquired by the Habs. Kypreos has stated he’s coming to Montreal and has made it known -

"I see him in Montreal this summer at 100 miles per hour. He will not stay in Winnipeg long term. From what I hear, nothing will change his mind, not even a Stanley Cup!”

Elliot Friedman also weighed in:

"Jets have talked to the Canadiens on and off about Dubois, we know that Dubois is gonna end up there 95%, is there someway we can make a deal so the Canadiens get him earlier and we get something we want? They've talked about that"

Lebrun has talked about Montreal and the Jets having had extensive talks about PLD.

But yeah. The agent only mentioning Montreal was an isolated incident of accidentally spilling the beans on one team. Pat Brisson is known for being not that smart in negotiations and in the media. Probably a complete accident on his behalf.
Where do you get this from. Brisson is a major agent in the market place, I would assume he's not the idiot you make him out to be...

It's not worth spending assets because we are not close to ending this rebuild. Our d need a few years of experience regardless of who's in net. I am simply stating even with Dubois we are outside of the wildcard spot
More than likely, but this insistance from some about Dubois being an end of the rebuild add-on from some makes no sense. He's 24 and entering his prime. This is not a veteran with three years of impact left in him being added on for a small Cup window.

If we gave an equal player or a better asset for Dubois, the trade would not make sense, but if it is a quantity for quality trade, it males entire sense. The quantity doesn't need to be crap for a deal to make sense either.

Actual hockey trades do happen, folks...

Awesome, I'm sure you do.

Yes, Elliot would never throw a bunch of shit at the wall and see what sticks. Where's the quote from PLD? Did we find it yet? All of this is based on one comment, where, when asked if he would like to play in Montreal, he responded yes.

Lets create a 100 page thread about this goood, not great player.
p-f-f-ft...

Good, not great.

Like Dubois is a Byron or something....

Hard to pinpoint how you value the player as a player. Good, not great means what? A legitimate NHLer with no real impact?

I'd disagree if it was that.

Still no quote, interesting. Instead call me a contrarian for stating the truth. We are acting like him coming here is a done deal and the only thing we need to do is throw some lowball offer towards the Jets.

If we are that certain he wants to come here then we shouldn't need to give up important assets to make it happen.
Because some posters act a certain way on a forum, we take it as truth? Only because it suits your narrative...

It was just a tad facetious.
No. Not facetious. Not winky winky sarcastic. No...

You can’t claim a player is a 30-50-80 point player when the said player has a career high of 63 points in 7 seasons and hasn’t hit 30 goals yet.
No, b ut at 24, you can opine that this is his remaining upside. None of that is set in stone, but you can see a potential to keep improbving as he enters his prime years.

Unless you think he's already on the downswing of his career!?

Seriously, taking the stance of what you see is what you get would mean no young player gets a deal above their ELC deal as a 2nd NHL contract -- or very few, let's say...

You need to be realistic and acknowledge that players get overpaid in early years pf a 2nd NHL contract (sometimes of a 3rd) because you are paying for the latter, better production in the further years of the contract being offered, asm was done with Suzuki.

You would do well to extend the same courtesy you ask for to me, it is an opinion just like yours. I find it humorous that this fan group is so local focused, as I said I don't see it in Alberta. As a matter of fact I saw in a thread (I believe it was about collage players without contracts) a name was mentioned that was from Calgary. So... I checked the Calgary board, plugged the name in and zip, no mention. I think you can agree had it been a player from your part of the country there would be a thread dedicated to him. In my opinion Dubois is very over rated by this group of fans, and while I think he would be a useful addition I fear over payment as was the case for Drouin, because the fans put pressure on management.

i took the time to write that it was not directed at you, but at large.

Now, to respond your point, Dubois isn't a college guy, he's a NHL players and a good one. He's just 24 years old and yet, put 2 time 27 goals and once 28 goals. He's physical, plays in front of the net, plays 200' .

Where is the link to an unsigned college player that Flames fans have probably never heard about and a player with more than 300 points in the NHL at only 24 ?
Then , i think that you should also take into consideration the fact that the Québec is a francophone province of 7 millions surrounded by what ? 350 millions of anglophones populations. The signification of getting a good francophone or Québec born player is in my opinion, far more important for us than in any other NHL teams getting a local player.
Still, If you look at all the noise Leafs fans make when a good Toronto born player is available, if you look how the Yotes fans are salivating just when you name Austin Matthews, i hope that you can figure out why with our specificity and unique culture, we appreciate to get a " des bons p'tits gars de chez nous "
