I'm not arguing Hank has been good this season.

I'm arguing 7 years of elite play outweighs 30 bad games.

Seeing Nash come to New York and fail to make any impact is significantly more upsetting than Hank's bad stretch.

If I had to pick one of them to keep, I keep the guy who's consistently been top 1-3 at his position his whole career.

once again this franchise is looking for one player to lead the entire offense.

it's arguable the Nash joined a worse franchise than he left.

i'm not arguing his poor play, but one top line player surrounded by mediocrity is a half@ss way to run a team...

but you knew that...

It has everything to do with an 8.5 caphit that my team has to shoulder and absolutely nothing to do with his wealth.

I guess we were all jealous of Gomez and Redden's wealth too... :shakehead

He's not making 8.5 dollars right now.

If he doesn't bounce back next year you have every reason to complain. You have every reason to complain now, too. But your fixation on Lundqvist and Lundqvist only is insane.

Acting as if the reason we've sucked this season is even "mostly" on Hank is ridiculous. The team in front of him is worse than subpar consistently.

Let's hope we finish bottom 5 in the league and bettman fixes it to get us 1st pick.

The problems go way, way, WAY deeper than a poor Lundqvist and a few million they could save in cap space -- but keep obsessing over him if that makes you feel better

Amnesty Lundqvist. ROFL. Do some research, people. Can't use an amnesty on a contract signed after the creation of the new CBA. That kind of talk is ridiculous anyway with Richards ripe for an amnesty buyout

It's gonna be Richards, but at this point I don't think that should be as automatic as it's going to be. And I'm not talking about Lundqvist.

What? I didn't state any facts I said my opinion.

yes, but it is still a baseless statement and i would like to know the reasoning behind it.

if i said that toews is the best player in the league, people would question why i hold that opinion

Lundqvist has been a top goaltender in this league for 8 seasons. 30 crappy games and all of a sudden we should trade him/buy him out? That is beyond ridiculous.

The rest of the team sucks just as much, if not more, but nah it's all on Hank.

What good would that do when u have slats doing the pickling. So he can pick jessiman over Parise again? Or al Montoya

i can't speak for others, but i was being tongue in cheek. we could obviously trade him if we wanted to get rid of him

The team in front of him is absolute ****, I'm not denying that. It's just the whole idea that we're now tied up with a very expensive player when we should be blowing this thing up. Lundqvist would have made a great trade chip.

The extension is also indicative of Sather's insane delusion that we're a contending team. There's alot of disappointing factors here aside from his play. His play only piles on to a move I didn't like to begin with.

All I said is hank will retire a ranger. I dunno if you've seen his big contract he just signed for a lot of money and a NMC? That's untradeable when he's 37. And Nash being a shell of himself is pretty ****ing obvious no? 7.8 for 6 goals. Does that work for you?

Not easy to get superstar players with middle of the road draft picks.

Drafting could be better? sure. But this team needs some top 5 picks, and SOON.

I've been a fan of this team since 1988 and the next franchise forward that we draft will be the first. There is no greater indictment of our management than that.

So let's trade him so we can get the most value..who would want our stiffs?

the $8.5 million cap hit has nothing to do with tonight so let it go, even just a little. His contract was NEVER going to be less than $7.0M. You're whining about an additional $0.75-$1.5M in cap hit in every Lundqvist post you make. The man isn't playing great and the defense is worse yet everything is not only about Lundqvist (and not the defense or the coaching) but it's also about his contract in all of your posts. The difference in cap hit isn't that significant anyway. He should play up to his elite contract standard and he isn't, everyone knows it. Imagine if every complaint was about players getting paid $.75M-$1.5M more than ideal.

****, McDonagh isn't getting paid almost $5.0M to fumble the puck.
Nash is getting paid like $6.5M to float on the ice?
Richards is getting paid $6.67M and he's playing like a third liner.
Pyatt is getting paid $2M+ to watch from the press box?
Del Zotto is getting paid $2.55M to fail at defense and not contribute offensively?

Pretty sure if even slats had 1st pick he's taking reinhart. But I know what you mean
