I think people are jetting from Toronto because of the core 4. I think other players are leaving Canada because they prefer the US lifestyle better.
If you are a low income earner, you are better off in Canada, if you are a high income earner, you are better off in the USA.

What specifically has Shanahan actually done? We know he hires the GMs. There is an unsubstantiated rumour that he blocked the Fleury trade, which may have involved Matthew Knies. We know Dubas had to get board approval for some major deals, but that’s above Shanahan and isn’t particularly uncommon for sports teams.

Pretty sure ROR saw how Tavares was absolutely destroyed by fans & media and wanted no part in it as he begins to further decline.

I don't think Shanny had any major disagreements with what was happening. He's the team president, had authority to intervene any time he wanted .

Common theme in the dressing room was that it was too quiet.
Tavares is an enigma and has no personality mix that in with the rest of the choirboys and it's problematic.
I just get big vibes that all these players that came in at last years TDL wanted out.
Sure, they got better term elsewhere but something stinks.
That would make perfect sense actually. Honestly he is not a bad player and even got signed for fairly cheap but I want more speed in the line up again.

Tax differences are overblown. The “no tax” states still pay 1/3 of their salaries in taxes.
I realize 1/3 is less than 1/2, but I get the feeling people really think those places don’t pay anything.
That’s the team our current GM walked into. You may not like what he’s done to address it, but he didn’t crate that mess.

I just had a look at the real estate listings in Nashville, the same house in southern Ontario would costs you 3 times as much. If you have money and want to rise a family it would be smarter to do so in Nashville.
