Imagine that. ROR is smart enough to understand that the Leafs are broken from the core on up...

Pretty freaking obvious now isn't it that the Leafs are a trash level team that other players now know will not win. ROR just said up yours Toronto, love the city but your organization is in shambles and I would rather not stay. What an indictment, just wow.

It's becoming like the TPP ownership days or worse.
If that's the case though, why have so many veteran players re-signed (often on team friendly deals) to stay? Spezza, Gio, Simmonds, Muzzin, Rielly, etc. have all chosen to re-sign here and are well respected players. Ryan Reaves just decided to sign here.

Is there a problem or did ROR not re-sign because he didn't want to be a 3C and the media is blowing this up? Acciari and Schenn got deals that the Leafs couldn't match. Schenn was in negotiations to try and find a way to stay up until the last minute.

ROR was saying all great things until this week. Now he decided to go another route and there are issues?

That was never happening. He walked away from 8 x 11-11.5 from the island and reported 7 x 13 in San Jose and similar 11m range in Dallas and Boston.
Covid absolutely cooked this teams long term planning
Everybody is getting overpaid st Louis could've had O'Reilly back
Tennessee doesn't have high tax .but in 4 years they ain't winning jack shit
Schenn can't play 82 games a year
Let's let the gm play his cards .if they run it back they get all the bashing they deserve
Maybe O'Reilly and others will come out some day and throw somebody under a bus
But today his family is moving to Nashville

It's over, maybe forever

Trelivingwill f*** up this team the same as he did the flames f*** the leafs will go down hill from here on but the fans will keep filling up the arena with hopes of winning until the fans let the management know that this shit is not going to be good enough they will keep taking your money and loving it

Simmonds, Spezza and Gio were just looking for somewhere cushy to retire. Reaves wasn’t getting 3 years anywhere. These are why they signed here, no other reason. Schenn and ROR can go to Nashville and not have to fight all the battles like they would here. They know a better situation when they see one

Cushy to retire? These guys can move wherever they want once their career is over. They're playing in the pressure cooker that is Toronto instead of Florida, Arizona, North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, etc. That doesn't scream cushy. It speaks to players who want to win and feel like this team can do it, IMO.

The only remotely interesting part of this season for me is Matthew Knies' rookie season. Even putting aside results, I think this team just fails as a form of entertainment. Unless you count tracking all their bad moves as entertainment

As far as being competitive, things just look too bleak to even really get into it. They weren't close last year and have gotten much worse so far

Yes, there is a problem.

Shanahan decided on a whim to screw over and get rid of the best GM this franchise has had in decades, in order to go back to our usual old dinosaur that seems to have no clue what he's doing.
good god man! Name a couple of accomplishments doobis had in 5 years?

Knies yes, seeing if Lilly is given the chance to flourish and Robertson can stay healthy

Shanny, it starts at the top. Dubas saw this and tried to rectify the situation and as soon as he stepped off course he was axed.
Spot on! People trashing Brad but we found out last month that Shanny is the puppet master in all regards.

This team could use a season where everything just goes absolutely tits up early on. Full on 18 wheeler off the cliff mode. From the top down there is a lot of assumptions about the playoffs being a lock. A truly bad year might be the only thing that brings some semblance of actual change within the organization and I am getting closer and closer to the camp that we are going to need a complete front office reset.

Looks like Calgary and Winnipeg are not the only ones with rush flights out. Schenn, Acciari, ROR. None wanted back. ROR apparently outspoken earlier about Keefe and the locker room. And now with news that Keefe is staying and no core changes, is the problem Shanahan.
Could be.

But could also be the constant over reaction of our media (ie: Mike Johnson going off about Matthews deserving 14.5) and fanbase (ie: HF boards)

In saying that, I don’t think losing any of those players is crippling to our team moving forward.

Sometimes you have to tread water. On the bright side the summer just started.

Nothing wrong with paying a first overall, two time hart trophy nominee, 27 year old center 11 million. Still isn't now.

The problems were the Marner contract, the Marner A, signing Keefe, and trying to reinvent NHL systems...aka purging the team of grit and activating the D which puts Marner and Matthews, Nylander at the point skating away from the net more than around the net.

Marner constantly using his post game interviews as an opportunity to attack reporters and social media is enough reason to strip him of his A. Jeez... Your a celebrity, playing for the Leafs, who continually puts himself in front of the media with shania twain appearances and cringe "letter to fans".... Either remove yourself from these platforms or suck it up you &$%cken baby or go to Phoenix where nobody will pay attention to you.

The Shanahan-Dubas drama was added fuel to the dysfunction. Can we get some people who just want to play hockey and win a cup?

Did Marner take a dump in your corn flakes or your lucky charms?
