Is Kirby Dach ready to be the #1 centre next season?

Dach has certainly cost himself alot of money. If he is gonna be kept (and why wouldn't he with his age unless the Hawks trade him for someone with a similar pedigree) his AAV isn't gonna be high at all.

Or Strome 3 years ago
I don’t think that’s the mic drop you were hoping it would be. It’s still debatable on whether the current version of Strome is even re-signed by a rebuilding team.

There’s also the comment by @Marotte Marauder showing that Strome 3 years ago was better.

I don’t think it’s controversial to say that Dach is falling short of where the Hawks hoped he would be by now. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a bust by the way. To me that means you cannot count on him solving the hole at 1C though, need to keep looking for a guy who does. Thankfully, I think Davidson knows this.

my bad… guess it would be 4 years ago when he was with the yotes was more my target. Wasn’t really meant as a mic drop more as a funny tag along.

Sure he was better at faceoffs than dach but you’re acting like 48% was good. He’s been good this season and last though. Looks like theres hope for Dach to develop, plenty of centers take awhile to develop the faceoff game.

So the comparison is 20 year old Strome who had 9 points in 21 NHL games and was 43% at the dot? All superior to Dach.

Strome showed offensive promise and potential at the dot.

Dach has shown no offensive promise, has been horrible at the dot and been adequate defensively for his age. THAT teeters into bust territory the longer it goes that way.

Dach needs a real coach, and to get his wrist feeling 100%. I refuse to make any declarations on what he is until that happens.

A real coach certainly wouldn't hurt but if needs coaching to find offensive instincts, we are sunk. The wrist may likely never feel 100% again, he has to learn to deal with that.

Take the puck to the net!! Not wrist dependent. Do not pass to a Dman on the rush unless he's in a scoring position. The puck is supposed to be on YOUR stick to make plays! Plaster a guy in the corner to create some space!

None of that is wrist dependent, unless his wrist is between his ears. You think nobody is telling him these things? Not his agent? Not a former coach? Not a parent (if they know)?

Take it easy man it was a joke..

Also no offensive promise from Dach? Alright buddy have a good one.

My point was strome was a project as recently as last season.

Though I agree, I think if there ever was a young player who needed guidance on how to play this game it is Dach. He is gifted physically and has talent... just needs to learn how to play the game. Hockey IQ can be taught by the right coach.... and it starts with no soft-peddling and telling it like it is.

You know as well as anyone how important the mental part of the game is. Poor confidence, overthinking the game, etc. I think he's been mismanaged almost the entire time here.
