If it's not Jack Campbell who should be the Leafs new #1 goalie?

Yeah, panicking about the goalie situation not being publicly established when we've barely scratched the surface of the offseason and free agency hasn't even started is pretty funny.
I know I can’t stop laughing, all the trolling from you Dubists and I called it perfectly in the end, we were scrambling and ended up overpaying for damaged goods. Enjoy free agency :)

This aged oh so well.

I've never mentioned Gerogiev once before but he's probably as good an option as Murray is for $4.6 !

Honestly, as much as I don't always agree on Zeke/etc with stuff/stats.
I sorta enjoy seeing him and couple others being so positive "homer" about what's going on or will go on with the leafs. Right or wrong, I don't care. For me personally it's nice to see, the fact that it bothers some to a large extent is kinda funny in my eyes and also makes me feel sad for some posters. There's being critical and then there's just hating for the sake of hating. Not signaling you out personally, just quoting you because you quoted Zeke and I had the thought to post this. Good vibes from me.

Cheers.
Go leafs go!

Tbh, I feel like this is being a bit overstated on your side. Yes Dorion wants to dump it, but like for even as bad of a GM as he is, it's not going to be some monster package to you guys.

I'm seeing all kinds of 'we'll get a 1st +' type returns and like... that isnt happening

Just going to bump this. Big big LOL's at all the 'Leafs are going to get a ransom!' type posts everywhere yesterday

Maybe our collective coping compromise is, we get another 1b type (ie Stolarz, Lankinen...) or two, and reveal Murray for the playoffs. You know, shelter him...completely.

Stolarz would be a good target, and as a UFA next summer, you'd assume Anaheim who is rebuilding would want to move him. He also probably doesn't want to sign there if Gibson is there, and it doesn't sound like they're moving Gibson.

But I don't think I've heard even the slightest rumour about him moving.

You didn't call anything perfectly. You were panicked about not having the goalie situation publicly established before free agency even started, and claimed that we were "outmaneuvered" based on nothing, and then after all that, we ended up getting a better goalie than the ones you thought we missed out on, before free agency, and got back assets to do it. We didn't "scramble" and we didn't "overpay". We didn't even pay at all - we got paid.

Nothing worse than told you so.

You got a goalie who hasn't been good in a long time. You can't even say it's due to being on a bad team as the Sens other goalies played better for the most part. Dubas absolutely panicked. Not cause of who already had been traded but my guess the 2 guys he wanted said no. One being Keumper and the other Gibson.

Don't worry Dubas will be gone by the end of next season.

That's not really true. Murray had a positive GSAx this past year. In fact, he had a higher GSAx in just 20 games than every single one of our goalies last year and literally every other alternative option that's been discussed here except for Kuemper and Husso - who ranked last and 2nd last in GSAx among all goalies in the playoffs. And that's not even getting into Kuemper's eye injury, and the high cap hit and term he'll command, or the tiny career sample and acquisition cost of Husso. There was no option that didn't have risk. There's few goalies in the league in general that don't have risks attached.
Dubas absolutely panicked.
There's absolutely nothing to indicate that this was a "panic" move.
Dubas will be gone by the end of next season.
Extremely unlikely.

It makes no sense to get rid of one injury prone goalie for another one with a higher cap hit. IMO they should have just run with Kalgren and Woll and saved the money.

Even after that trade certain posters are trying to make It sound like Dubas did a good job. Why can’t people just say Dubas made a bad trade. Some posters will not put any fault on Dubas and everything he does it great. I don’t understand no GM is perfect so why can’t you admit he made a mistake?

I would have liked higher retention, but there's absolutely sense in acquiring Murray. Running a tandem of Woll-Kallgren would have been much worse.

Right? It's like some are fans of Dubas's over the team.

Season is over.
I never actually believed any team outside those tanking for picks would bet on Murray as their starter.

Let alone a team claiming to have cup aspirations.

Even people who believe in Murray have to admit that it was a poor return compared to what Buffalo was supposed to get for the same retention.

Unless you have a galaxy brain, you won't understand most of Kyle's moves. This guy is 3 to 4 moves ahead of most GMs.

Good chunk of Leaf nation is whining today about Dubas getting taken by Dorion but you keep your head up for all of us whiners. Hope you are happy with Dubas' work. Maybe he'll get another promotion soon.
A good chunk of Leaf nation has been whining non-stop about anything and everything Dubas does or doesn't do for some time now. The whining has gone so far overboard that it's amusing.

If Murray was a UFA this year, would he even get a contract from anyone? I think he would be a PTO guy, at best. There is no logic to Dubie going after him other than the fact he is a former Soo Greyhound.
Dubas making Murray the undisputed #1 in Toronto is the icing on the cake for his dismissal after this season. The Leafs are going to miss the playoffs and Dubas and Shanahan will be OUT!

what a shame.

Season is over.
Its over.
