Let's say that Buffalo is secretly listening to offers for Tage. What is the most you'd give up for him, if you would even feel like he fits?
Kasper is a no go. Danielson or MBN + protected 1st + salary going the other way + B level prospects. Yzerman likes to say he wont put the cart before the horse. I hope he stands true to it, Dont get jumpy going after a big splash before the team has accomplished anything.
Something Like this is probably about the best we could offer. Id be willing to go pretty light on the pick protection ie. lottery win would be the only protection. Maybe add soderblom in there?
I'm a big Danielson guy and I would absolutely be willing to do Danielson + 1st + for Tage.
Id love to keep Elmer if they can.... he seems like he is just starting to scratch the surface on realizing what he can do. That zone entry yesterday, keeping poise, setting up the Simon goal was something you dont often see from big guys, just starting to figure it out. Im a big Ras fan also, and he hasn't made many plays like that at all in his career. I realize you need to give to get but most of the current kids on the roster are looking like keepers... if they can get away with it, much rather give up the unknowns.
Berggren seems the most likely to be moved from that group, if you find a team that values his style of play. To Berggren's credit he has been much better with the new regime, and doesn't seem too soft to play against.
Danielson also seems like an untouchable but Tage wouldn't be cheap. I would not envy Yzerman trying to put a package together for a Tage like player. It helps if you move him for a center that fits in long term, you then at least know you have Larkin, Compher, Kasper, Copp and whoever going forward down the middle... with Kasper having shown the ability to play the wing effectively.
Tage is a centerMBN+1st+ Wallinder perhaps. I doubt that'd be enough for Buffalo to move him. He's on a great contract. They'd probably want Kasper or Danielson and again the issue is that we have no center depth after Larkin.
I think the Wings would need to address the center issue before you could go after a big time winger via tradeable assets.
