These games are too important. Dubas is going to need to spend a prospect/pick or two to fix this issue. It'll probably require the other team retaining salary.
Thank Mitch marner and his mercenary ways for our inability to afford a backup goalie

Hutch isn't to blame for this game, but the guy just has some bad karma right now.

We need a voodoo doll to get rid of the bad karma.

Backups are so easy to find, that’s why we haven’t found one for two years...and why we waived the good one after years of searching for him. So so easy.

I can't imagine Hutch playing another game for the Leafs.

When he went down to the Marlies he did everything you could ask of him to show he belonged back in the NHL with impressive numbers over a handful of games, so what do you do with him now? Send him down for 10 games this time so he can come back and let in another 5?

I said never again, but I guess it was worth a shot with the Keefe magic going. Okay, experiment over.

can't blame Hutch on any of the goals and he also made a few big saves

the problem playing behind this team is a few big saves isn't enough , you have to keep making big saves for the full 60 mins to give this pond hockey team a chance to win and Hutch isn't good enough to do that

Goalies are very inconsistent in performance. Look at the top goalies. All of them have off years. Even someone like Gibson isn't great every year. Now put the same phenomena except you're dealing with backup quality goaltenders, and you pretty much have no idea what you get. Aaron Dell was one of the best backups in the league one year. We would likely have felt great if we acquired him as a backup after that. But since then he's been awful.

You just never know. Hutchinson is a #3 in my book, but we might have gotten the same kind of performance with an established #2 too. With that said, we need to give someone else a shot here. Get on the phone with Pittsburgh and get them to retain 50% on DeSmith.

I wonder if he feels it? Or Matthews and his minus 3 performance today. They are finding out first hand that being paid top dollar and being on a winning team do not always go hand in hand. Didn't leave Management with enogh money for a competent back up goalie ,but you're not good enough to score 7 goals a game...tough sleddin'!

You can grab a guy off the streets in Toronto and he will give you at least 5 GAA. Same thing you get from Hutch

The team's winning streak had to unfortunately end at some point. I'd hope the same soon goes for Hutchinson's losing streak as well. The quest for that first, perfect back to-back of the season continues on. On the brighter side, there's only been the one with no points earned at all. Confident that Andersen can help bring things back in a positive direction.
