Is it possible that this was because we were coming off a shaky series against the Pens that they didn't look good for long periods of time and now we're coming off a much better series win?
For me it's all about matchups. I knew Pitt's style of play would give us fits and to a lesser extent so would Carolina. I think we matchup better with Tampa and as always it's going to come down to special teams and goaltending. I think we have a legit shot against them.

Well… the sentence you bolded said coming into the playoffs, so those would have been pretty tough things to factor. It was because Carolina played a faster, more complete looking game, had a better record and seemed like a tougher matchup than Tampa. If anything, the people shitting their pants over Tampa are the ones who are being effected by recent outcomes. Based on Tampa’s regular season and no Goodrow/Coleman/Gourde, if they had played Florida first and then Toronto for seven games in the second round, people would be licking their chops to play them after getting past the Canes.

3 things that concern me about Tampa are 1) Their stanley cup pedigree and experience, 2) the fact that they have had 9 days of rest and this could be a big advantage for them the longer the series goes, 3) Vasilevskiy is every bit as good as Shesty.
None of these 3 things concern me.

Experience is overrated. I think we proved that winning two series with youngsters. Fox, Lindgren, Miller are playing like playoff seasoned D-men. The Kids line is quickly becoming a top line for us.

Their 9 days off, will work against them. It's not like they're getting Brayden Point back. They will be rusty. Whereas we are sharp.

Defense involves all six on the ice. They might have shut down FLA, but TOR took them to 7 games. And we are the better defensive team.

We are heading into this series after just playing our best game of the year. And they are coming off the bench.

I hope you are right. We will see how it plays out.

Just went through the Canes game board to see their thoughts and then here. I had respect for them. I no longer do. Inferior team? If Andersen is your sole reason for losing this series than you are lost. Two rounds and they couldn’t win one road game. And we are the inferior team? They’ve been building this for five years. They should’ve won this series, no excuses. Hell, the Rangers were supposed to be done before the playoffs began if you paid attention to Vegas betting odds lmao. What a night. The kids are impressing me. They look unreal. Shesterkin is a stud. The stars showed up. The Canes fans saying we will get swept next round make me laugh. You guys were supposed to sweep the “inferior” team. I honestly hate coming across like this and never taunt other teams that lose because I know the feeling is horrible, but they can get lost. And then complaining about the shoulder check on Trouba. Do you watch hockey? Complaining that Kreider injured Raanta? Elite teams don’t make that many excuses in a game seven.

Wow, has this team exceeded every expectation for this year? It seems no moment is too big for them, and they're the youngest team in left. They were just the better team, don't care what anyone says.

Trouba's absolute clean ass hit cemented this game. I don't really want to shit on Carolina because they do have a solid team, but they're fake tough and man did that just deflate them. They had no answer afterwards.

I will not vote for the top 3 stars because every single player on that team played their ass off tonight. The entire team deserves a star.

Not going to comment on the next series yet.......

Game 1 Wednesday, you will see Wednesday, doing her thing. LOL!

Can you believe these dance moves are from the sixties? She can shuffle with the best of them.

They are butt hurt. Some people just refuse to give the Rangers any credit because they are young and inexperienced. They seem to forget they are really good and have high end talent. We were supposed to lose to Pitt, we were supposed to get beat in 5 by Carolina, now we have no shot against Tampa. It's all bullshit.

question asking for a friend.

When was the last time a team won the cup when they missed the playoffs the year before?

Hockey more then any other sport there seems to be a learning curve for the playoffs and teams that are on the verger or contenders need to take steps to learn how to win.

When was the last time a team won without these so called steps?

Also i live this team but i think theyre to young and stupid to realize that they have no shot against tampa and thats whats gonna allow them to win the series. This team all year has proven they have ice water in theyre veins and play better when thier backs are against the wall.

Honestly, RBA is to blame for the Canes.

System, conditioning, and all that. Your PP can't evaporate the way it did in the playoffs, and there is 0...ZERO excuse for your team to play like All-Stars at home and like shitstains on the road.

Granted, Rangers had a God awful Game 5, but Rangers outplayed the Canes for 2 periods in Game 1, and Game 2 was closely contested where a Rangers brainfart did them in.
Yes. I think the vaunted Carolina system covers a lot of holes and is very impressive. But maybe it also suppresses offensive skill. When a player is selling out for defense and forechecking every shift maybe it’s a little tougher to generate offense when needed.

Just read the Carolina GameDay thread.... They thought the trouba hit was dirty, that kreider was the one who injured raanta, and that the refs have it in for them.

It's funny how all fan bases think the refs have it in for them...
Also the announcing… the national announcers hate us! Though I’m pretty sure the rangers are more divisive than most other teams.

With the refs, bias is never a thing. But Game Management is. And that’s unacceptable. (Unless we’re trailing ;))

I'm thinking back to the bubble. People talked about how embarrassed they were and how they didn't think we could win with this core based on three games.

We just blew that team out in their own building.
Good point. What a difference a couple seasons of development makes.

And Jesper Fast agrees!

Actually, if we would have played Tampa in the first round I would have been pretty optimistic.

Now that is the big "X-factor" for me. Tampa with a long rest and a really battle tested group. We have played 14 games and leaned very very hard on our core players. Neither we nor Tampa have much to lose either. Don't see either team collapsing from pressure, even if it of course can go really fast if you start to lose games. But if Tampa is firing on all cylindars and all the milage our top guys have taken starts to add up, they could look to blow us away.

LMFAO guys. I remember going up 2-0 early and I was like: "aight, this is done, even Raanta shaking his head knows it" immediately after that I fell asleep xD

LFG !!

I will still miss the 1st runder, but there is invaluable experience to be gained from the next matchup.

There’s a reason I avoid other team’s boards post game - gets the blood up
