They are butt hurt. Some people just refuse to give the Rangers any credit because they are young and inexperienced. They seem to forget they are really good and have high end talent. We were supposed to lose to Pitt, we were supposed to get beat in 5 by Carolina, now we have no shot against Tampa. It's all bullshit.
Walked into the school I teach at today to a 25-year old man, Isles fan, saying, "have fun playing a real goalie this series" as if his team wasn't handed the Pens series last year thanks to Jarry. So many jealous POS's that I should honestly be happier. Regardless of this round's result, the future is extremely bright here and fans know it.

A big relief aside from winning the series is getting an answer to the question of whether or not we made the right decision in signing Mika long-term. I really thought after the no shows in the first several games of the playoffs this is another guy who posts fancy #'s in the regular season but can't translate it over to the playoffs. He's proven me so wrong

I just hope that the front office don't see this run as a reason for bringing Strome back.

I was reluctant to say anything because I didn't want to jinx us, but holy shit did Svechnikov no show. No offensive numbers, no physical play. Total passenger.
I was the same way. When people were crapping on Kakko all I was thinking was, he's basically matching Svechnikov minus all the minutes and PP time.

Can we talk about how bad the announcing was last night?

Serious, what the f***. The first half of the third period was spent lamenting about the Hurricanes injuries. The final 10 minutes was focused entirely on Tampa.

Other than a few comments on Lindgren blocking a shot, they didn’t compliment the Rangers a single time. They just rambled on about how difficult Tampa Bay is going to be. How is that acceptable?

I woulda told that guy whilst looking at my watch “hey, if you’re real quick you’ll catch Anders and the team teeing off at Shinnecock Hills….“

Almost as bad as the collective circle-jerk over Cindy in the first series.….

Joking aside, I was happy to see the Canes turn out to be a very professional and respectable opponent. They didn’t melt down like the Caps and Penguins always do. They took the loss like adults. Which means they’ll be back and better next season. They’re not old. There will be more battles with these guys. And I imagine they’ll win their share.
I would think the fact that like half a dozen guys on their squad played in NY recently kinda diluted the urge.

What a win. I was very confident they would win after Game 6, but didnt want to jinx them and get ahead of myself. It was mentioned before, but this had real 2013 against Washington vibes, where the series was won after Game 6, but the Rangers needed to stomp them out in Game 7.

The big boys once again have their best games when they have to. Mika/Fox/Kreider/Igor with true superstar efforts tonight. Cant really pick out a guy who didn't have a strong game. Have to shoutout Filip Chytil as well. He's completely changed the narrative and is terrifying every time he's on the ice now. 2022 Kid Line about to return the favor for what Tampa's Triplets line did to us in 2015.

Now on to Tampa Bay. Vasilevsky is terrifying, but the Rangers should be able to find more open ice against this Lightning squad. I also think having the 1st 2 games at home is huge for us. We are in game shape, in our building and they've been sitting around for a week and a half and now have to travel. 10 straight playoff series wins for them sounds like a streak ready to be broken. I think we will win this series, but we all know its going 7. LGR.

That was bad too. I guess the difference is that Crosby was completely dominant in Round 1. He was the biggest reason, other than the refs, that Pittsburgh had the upper hand a lot of that series.

The Rangers had two stinkers against Carolina but were good otherwise. Instead of highlighting why they were good, the focus of the broadcast was making excuses for Carolina.

Maybe that would have bothered me when I was younger, but I'm at a point in my life when I enjoy and revel in the bitterness, pettiness, and hypocrisy of these fans. Just knowing how upset they are makes the victory feel even better.

As far as the Islanders go, our trajectories are completely opposite. We're a young team that is only going to get better with experience with even more good prospects in the pipeline. They had their 15 minutes of almost fame, fell off the map, and the number one highlight for them will be rooting for us to lose. Back to irrelevance.

Then he doesn’t play - he won’t sit Reaves .
All for keeping Reaves in the lineup for game 1, maybe both at home. Maroon can be a PITA. But if Blais is healthy, a Motte-Goodrow-Blais line gives us the best chance to win. That line could have the potential to be what Coleman/Gourde/Goodrow were for TB.

question asking for a friend.

When was the last time a team won the cup when they missed the playoffs the year before?

Hockey more then any other sport there seems to be a learning curve for the playoffs and teams that are on the verger or contenders need to take steps to learn how to win.

When was the last time a team won without these so called steps?

Also i live this team but i think theyre to young and stupid to realize that they have no shot against tampa and thats whats gonna allow them to win the series. This team all year has proven they have ice water in theyre veins and play better when thier backs are against the wall.

Blues in 2019.

Finished 9th in the west in 2018

Cannot underestimate the importance of winning this game, in the fashion they won it.

The Canes did a number on them in the bubble and came out flying in this series only for the Rangers to take it back on their terms. Yes, Igor was the difference, but they put pucks in the net at key times to get the job done.

I always felt the Canes would be a thorn in their sides for years considering the size, talent and coaching they have. They are in the division and you have to get through them to move on. To get through them this early with such a young team battling back from an 0-2 deficit is crazy good not only because the Rangers move on, but because the Canes will look to maybe make more changes than they need to.

The kids will now get a minimum of 18 playoff games under their belt and now will have the opportunity to learn from the best in Tampa. Again - win or lose, this is all so important for the future of the team. Everyone has showed up.

Chytil is growing into a man and taking huge steps, showing he can be a playoff difference maker. The goal he scored last night was so well timed and the reaction of him, Laffy and the team was priceless. They will get addicted to that feeling and they are only 20-22 years old.

Kakko had a good game. Laffy has had an extremely solid postseason playing a man’s game at such a young age. Fox went off, breaking records. Miller has quietly been more than impressive and has played the position for what 6 years? Schneider hasn’t been perfect but good enough not to be taken out of the lineup. Keep going down the list. This is incredible if you think about it.

Scary thought - They are getting healthy at the right time. There is little pressure on them to continue this and If they can slay the dragon they can be the best because theyve beaten the best. Huge challenge but you couldn’t ask for a better scenario this season.
