Yeah this shit is no joke. My daughter was born on Tuesday and while I was able to be there for delivery when they moved her to postpartum with my wife I was kicked out and went home.

When I got home I:

- Took off my shoes outside
- Rolled up my pants
- Went inside and washed my hands
- Got out the sanitizing wipes
- Took everything out of my pockets and sanitized it
- Went back and sanitized the doorknob and my shoes and opened the garage where the laundry gear is
- Stripped off my clothes outside and threw them straight into the wash
- Went inside and put on new clothes
- Got everything out of the car and threw it into the wash
- What couldn’t be washed was set on a towel on the counter and wiped off with Clorox
- Threw the towel in the wash, then sanitized the counter
- Went out and sanitized the entire car including doors, seats, controls everything

And with all that bullshit, I’m sure there’s still about a 40% chance that I missed something obvious.

I’m sleeping ok since I have to take care of our 2 year old. My wife on the other hand is toughing it out with the baby like a champ. Still a kick in the dick when you go to get your son up in the morning or from nap and the first thing he says to you is “I want mommy!”

My twins are almost 3 and my daughter is 1. I know that feeling.

The University of Washington's COVID-19 model has reduced its death projections nationwide to about 82,000 deaths, from 93,000. Also, California's death projection has gone from about 5,000 to 1,800.

At the Cuomo press conference, they are discussing a projection of total beds needed. It is trending at about 30,000. The two models they were following were showing either a peak at 110,000 or 53,000.

They didn't say it, but looks like they aren't going to have an issue with running out of ICU beds or ventilators.

Cuomo described hydroxychloriquine as being "promising". Doesn't work with certain pre-existing conditions but he did not elaborate.

I won't be shocked if Florida and Louisiana pass California in total number of cases within the next two weeks or sooner.
 
Good news is good.

I'm worried about people letting their guard down the moment they hear that, though. See, it's no big deal, lets go back to life as normal etc. when we actually have a very good chance at damn near eradicating this thing if we just hand on tight.

This is why it would be good to know what is really going on in China. If we in America actually get this under control, I think the moratorium on international travel should continue to ensure we don't import a second wave.

Not sure of the source of your numbers. I am going by this.

Second column is total cases, third column is new cases reported in latest 24-hour period. Louisiana and Florida appear to be ready to overtake the number of total cases in the near future.

I know we aren't supposed to discuss this (for reasons I don't understand), but I know the mods on the Kings board are good people, so just a word of advice to y'all, I got banned for a while for calling it the "China" virus. Apparently that's an ethnic slur and racist. Don't say that on other boards, there are people who are mods on this site that shouldn't be and they let their political ideologies guide them and they attribute motive to random things just to zing you.

I do not trust the models at all. They have been incorrect by significant amounts. I much prefer to look at the actual data, and examine the rate of increase or decrease in the number of new cases each day.

Maybe we aren't talking about the same data point. I am looking at the total number of cases reported in each state. I don't see that on the University of Washington site.

Boris Johnson, who was hospitalized yesterday, was moved to the ICU today. This is a very bad sign, given that the UK's death rate for ICU patients so far is about 50%. That's based on a comparison of deaths vs. discharges.

Damn, that sucks. So far Johnson has not been placed on a ventilator, but they moved him to ICU in case it becomes necessary.

Sounds like they better start transfusing him with convalescent plasma ASAP.
