I'm not sure what getting rid of Dubas does.

If Toronto can move Tavares, they should. I doubt they can.

Anybody have Barry Trotz's number?

Asking for a friend.
Dubas aint letting go of his BFF and hiring a coach that goes against everything he stands for.

Trotz would demand players with balls. Not Kerfoot and Holl.

Aint happening

Wait so let me get this straight. You are assuming that if the Tavares goal counted, the Rielly goal still happens? That's not how the butterfly effect works.
I'm assuming that the results may be different if the Leafs don't have to turn around and dig for another goal after scoring the tying goal on a great play by Tavares. But instead, that goal gets called off, then they manage to score another one. THEN the refs let Killorn floor Muzzin and then rip the stick out of his hands to give Tampa an odd man chance that leads to the second goal. That even ignores that they did the EXACT same thing on the first goal.

I dunno, I'm wondering if the lesson the Leafs should take from this is that massive cheating works.

You're right. Puck luck starts from good fundamentals, body positioning, how to manage certain parts of the ice, and a bunch of subtle things I'm not qualified to really speak about, but you know it when you see it and it's often the same kind of players or individuals who get them. I think the Leafs are good but also are busy reinventing the wheel and probably gloss over a lot of the good solid basics. The curl back, bump backs and cross ice breakouts are sweet when they work but a lot of them fly in the face of solid basic hockey. Those things matter when there's no margin for error.
Yeah. Look how easy it was for Tampa to box out and block shots. We couldn't even get pucks towards Vasileski. Same thing with Price last year. You don't get goals from the rush like you do in the regular season. Engvall is a good player, but he's super ineffective in the playoffs.

I sent him a message. Help us Obi-Trotz.

Might be time to clean house with management, specifically Dubas. It is unfortunate because I think Dubas does some great things, and I think if he would get a chance somewhere else he would thrive, but his stubbornness to make big changes has really cost this team and it might be time to move on. It is literally insanity to be doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results. I cannot think of another team that has had SIX straight first round exits, and refuses to make a big changes.

It sucks, I expected us to lose before the series even started, but I was hoping to be proven wrong. With that being said, I can't fault their effort this series as some of the big guys like Marner actually showed up in comparison to last year. Unfortunately once again, it was not enough especially when it counted in Games 6 and 7. I get some people are more understanding with the team and the loss because it was a hard fought series, but given that this is the 6th year now with a first round exit I don't think the players deserve the luxury of us using that as an excuse to let them off the hook.

Stop making excuses. Why did the Leafs lose against Montreal? Why did they lose against Columbus? Was it because of the Refs too? I'm tired of hearing excuses and bullshit moral victories people come up with every year they lose. The Leafs can't beat the best team and they can't beat the worst team, do you actually think that deserves a free pass? 4 seasons of failure under Dubas , right now they're the Ottawa Senators of the early 2000s, just a regular season team and nothing more.
I hated this team after both those series. They shrivelled up and died. I wanted to blow the whole thing up. They showed me they were different this year, battled hard in the playoffs against the best team in the league, and ***nothing*** went their way when it mattered most. Bounces, calls, its such a fine line and the chips just never fell in our direction. But this team was absolutely different.

There's no way we can afford gio
Why not? He wants to be here. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him get Simmonds/spezza deals here on out. Hes 38. You can give modest bumps to the young D in bridge deals and bring gio & boosh back to make your top 6 rielly Brodie gio lilly sandin boosh

Yes? What are you expecting from late 1st/2nd rounders?

Durzi
Robertson
Sandin
Abruzzese
Niemela
Knies

Seeing "1 finish D guy" shows me as much as I need to know about your knowledge of the Leaf's prospect pool. LOL.

Lol Robertson durzi and abruzzese maybe you should turn away from your dubas shrine and watch hockey

If we drafted well we wouldn't have shit occupying our 4th line.

Dude has also bed shit tier at asset management

Don't try to claim that the refs didn't influence the outcome.
The refs influence the outcome of every game. Sometimes they f*** up, sometimes they see many things that we as fans don't see. Blaming the refs is childish.
Maybe if Holl didn't interfere on the Tavares goal then the Leafs woul'dve won the game. Maybe start thinking like that instead of the ref who called a penalty.

I always said teams from Arizona to Vancouver were able to park the bus on the Leafs and the Lightning did so in the third. We just default to cycling on the perimeter and looking off bad shooting lanes without realizing the looks get worse and worse. Factor in the hesitancy to pull the trigger. Teams know how to play the Leaf when it really matters and we don't have a solid Plan B.

It all comes down to the players being mental midgets and having serious mental breakdowns. I'm looking at you Kerfoot.

They lack the killer instinct and I don't know how you fix that.

No point getting rid of Dubas. He's an excellent GM. He actually learns from his mistakes and doesn't remain static. So it is like we get a new GM next year if you think about it.

Actions will speak though. Depth is too soft and Trotz is there for the taking. Get to work.

Nick Paul makes less than Mikheyev. Cap is not a hurdle to fix soft depth issue.

  • Massive overpayments
  • 50% of the cap tied to 4 forwards (did not show up in Game 7s btw)
  • Not enough cap left to have decent depth
  • Upcoming contracts
  • The goalie he signed -> Mrazek will be the #1 goalie. Leafs will not be able to afford Campbell btw
  • This core shits the bed when it matters so we need decent depth
    • BUT no cap space left for decent depth
  • Hired a rookie coach that continues to SUCK when it comes to playoffs
  • Does not even have BALLS to call out biased anti-leaf officiating
  • This season the Kadri trade looks even worse than it was orginally

There are so many F-ups.

I do like not throwing away the 1st rounders this year for another 1st round exit. This team did not show up to play in Game 2, Game 4 and Game 7; while turtling in the 3rd period in Game 6 with only 4 shots on goal. Part of is on coaching; he is the one that hired the coach.

If there are any major moves being done then I'd prefer it is not Dubas doing it. Let the new GM come in and make those moves. If you want to remain status-quo then I don't really care whether dubas stays or goes.

If dubas makes any major moves this off season I am going to take a break from Leafs. His screw ups are so massive that I just cannot invest myself emotionally with this team anymore. Life is short; and the experience that is life is being miserable for a lot of people (leafs fans) because of 3 guys making ridiculous decisions

1) Shanahan
2) Dubas
3) Keefe

3 guys should not be ruining it for thousands perhaps millions of Leafs fans. Period!

Can we really blame Dubas for this year's first round loss? Leafs played great in Game 1, 3 and especially 5. Game 6 they showed heart in making another comeback to take the game into OT and had several amazing chances to win where they were centimeters off from putting the puck in the net.

Game 7 Paul got two opportunistic goals and the Leafs played their hearts out trying to tie. Unlike last year at the end of the Habs series where I was left with complete disappointment in their effort and their lack of fight in game 7, this year they gave it their all in game 6 and it almost paid off and they came back again in game 7 and gave it their all and came up just abit short where they didn't capitalize on a number of good scoring chances.

Sure changes need and will be made because of cap and other reasons and maybe even one of the big 4 gets traded, but even though I'm sad that its another 1st round and out for the Leafs, it feels different than last year and I don't know why Dubas is to blame for putting together a really good team that came so close to getting to the 2nd round, but for a few 50/50 crapshoot plays and ref calls they weren't able to win. The Leafs weren't outclassed playing against the back to back Stanley Cup champs, they just had a little less puck luck than the Bolts did the past couple of games.

I don't have a shrine, I can just recognize a good GM when I see one. You can criticize Dubas for lots of things but not the prospect pool. Mrazek, for example.
