Bunting - Matthews - Marner
Tavares - (Second line Center) - Nylander
(Two-Way Forward) - Kampf - (Two-Way Forward)
Clifford - Engvall/Douglas - Simmonds

(Defensive D-man) - Lybushkin
Rielly - (Defensive D-man)
Giordano - Brodie

Campbell
Kallgren

Keep:
Liljegren.
Trade: Sandin for a young more defensive d-man.
Trade: Muzzin/Holl for a young/mid age more defensive d-man. Or just trade them and sign one.
Try to make Engvall a center or give Douglas a chance.

Trade OR Buyout: Mrazek/Kerfoot to have enough to re-sign Campbell.
Don't sign: Kase/Mikheyev/Blackwell/Spezza. Use the cap space to fill wings on the third line with two way forwards.
Use the remaining cap space to either sign a second line center or trade for one.

I like the base layout of this for sure. Lots of interesting names mentioned in the Toronto Star today.
Mason Marchment, Nick Paul, Frank Vatrano, Johan Larsson, Colin Blackwell (again), Zach Aston-Reese, Curtis Lazar, Nicolas Deslauriers, Noel Acciari...were some of the names mentioned.
Nick Paul could be a great big body fit up on the Tavares-Nylander line...can also play C if need be. Vatrano could be an interesting 3rd line addition, or Marchment coming back. Outside of that really more 4th liners but some sandpaper in that group for sure. Would have to think local boy Nick Paul is an option if Tampa can't keep him

nothing against your lineup but it just shows how many holes we have. And you can't run Campbell and an AHL goalie next year

As pointed out by another poster, one of the lineups I made didn't really suit us well for the PK. So up front, if we re-sign Engvall, bring in Nick Paul, and Zach Aston-Reese...we will have sandpaper and PK guys.
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Paul-Tavares-Nylander
Robertson-Kampf-Anderson
Aston-Reese-Engvall-Simmonds

Helps us with cap big time. Robertson and Anderson will obviously be cheap kids, and give that third line some good jump. Physical 4th line for cheap that should finish their checks and has two defensively responsible forwards on it. Paul gives Tavares-Nylander a big bodied winger that should win some board battles for them. PK would have Marner, Engvall, Kampf, Aston-Reese, Paul, Anderson, Robertson. I think Robertson & Anderson are both due for a shot this year. Anderson is a bit of an older prospect who is starting to really come along offensively at the AHL level, he's defensively conscious, and gets in hard on the forecheck...time to give him a full time shot imo

No team has had any success with even one 10+ mil$ forward. We have 3 of them.

Add on the amount of signing bonuses, front loaded and the amount of sponsorships, the Leaf players have some of the best, if not the best, contracts in the league.

Who thought tying up almost 50% of the cap in four forwards was a good idea? Oh yeah, dubas and his fan boys.

I, and many others, said back in 2019 that those contracts were not going to lead to success. Three years later and history has proven us 100% correct.
Hopefully they can unload both Mitch and Willy and get back a 1D and a 1G and a pick or two .. I would say both JT and Willy but JT is not going anywhere and he has total control .. I guess MLSE trusts Shanny to execute da retool .. to me I would have brought in someone with expertise in fixing this roster construction and CAP problem .. Shanny/Dubie are in way over their heads on this fix .. playoff success comes from having a Hedman and a Vasi type .. or a Doughty and a Quick type .. we need a horse with size and speed on D and a G who is $$$ and can win games for team on an average night .. my guess they tinker again and we end up with exact same result as last 6 years .. bottom line is it can't work ever with 4 forwards in CAP era
