I'm just not sure that the + is going to be nearly as heavy as some of you Rangers fans are setting it out to be.
Kreider is not a rental, that's what you have to understand. A 1st + for a player like Kreider is rental pricing, that 1st rounder could be substituted with 2nds but the Rangers will not be trading anyone for magic beans. He is the type of player that works like a perfect cog with a team like Dallas and it would be privvy to actually pay up to get a player like him, they're rare.

Not sure why everyone is just assuming Dallas will spend all of Seguin's cap on one player...not like Seguin was their one and only good player.

If they want to spread out the cash, David Savard wouldn't be the worst use of $4M for a team with cup hopes this season. Right handed vet dman who can play top 4 if needed.

Try to forget he's been a Hab for the last 3.25 seasons before crapping on this post.

10.13 mil equals Petterson and Malkin from the pens.

I mean to be fair, Seguin actually is injured. But I don't see why not keeping him on the LTIR until playoffs because all fairness to say this is honest unlike Vegas.

But that being said, I think they go after the big guys and trade away a lot of futures in order for them to retain 50%.

I see them potentially getting the biggest fish out there, maybe even Cam Fowler and Brock Nelson as well. But if I'm being honest they should try and trade for Brady Tkachuk as I believe he's just what Dallas needs and when Benn retires he's a perfect replacement. But I imagine they need cap to sign Wyatt Johnson and Stankoven.

Tkachuk would be fun to watch in Dallas.

Also please take Puljujarvi, he's been playing well, no
Not sure about Rust, but JP would fit right in with the Finns.

I really want to see JP get a proper chance this year. He's unfairly being scratched by this moron coach.

Seems that you're not understanding the Stars are actually looking for rentals more likely than not because Seguin is going to be returning, and fitting Kreider's salary in next season is going to be tough

Seguin isn't coming back till playoffs. Dallas is going to do the exact same thing Vegas did with Stone. As for the immediate future, Rangers will retain whatever Dallas needs to remain comfortably afloat on the cap.

It just doesn't make sense because then the Rangers could logistically ask for what Rangers fans want if they're going be retaining the type of money needed in order for it to work long term.

The Stars need a rental. Kreider's contract goes for 2 years past this season. You make it out to be a positive, when in reality it just doesn't work for the Stars which makes me question if you're keeping up with their contracts/books. Wyatt Johnston is going to get paid this offseason, he's not going to be bridged to fit Kreider in lmao. In addition, Duchene is due a raise, then in the '26 offseason, Thomas Harley is going to get paid and so is Robertson (yes, he is slumping but he's young - he will bounce back).

The Rangers are just not good trading partners for the Stars.

You are quite the persistent salesman. But I don’t think it’s a fit. He is off to a slow start and I feel that Dallas can use those assets that you clearly want for a better player and possibly a younger player than Kreider. Or Dallas can keep those guys and get someone similar to Kreider for picks. If it’s someone in their 30s who is going to tie up that much cap space I would rather a rental. Johnston and stankoven will need new deals soon.

Oh wait, you proposed this?

Shouldn't have stopped there, the unicorn deserves Stankoven + Johnston too lmfao
I'm sorry I forgot a struggling former 30th OVR from 5 years ago and a recent 18th overall Marc Staal clone circa 22' isn't deserving of a franchise points leader on an O6 team.
Lmfao, lol,

People complain that Rangers fan overvalue their own prospect pool?

He has 3 years left, that's 3 cracks at winning an actual Stnaley Cup, you know, the things franchises build towards? Teams have poached players off the Rangers before and have won cups. Jim Nill is smart and both he and Drury can make good trading partners. Both of these teams make too much sense on paper not to do business especially with Seguin being shelved for the playoffs. Both franchises failing to move past the CF and hungry for something more.

You give you get in this league, just because you believe Kreider's value is low because NHL 25 Franchise Mode told you doesn't mean GM's in real life do too. He's a unicorn and he's not "declining". People like you believed Pavelski was declining.

You sound schizophrenic.
Lol ..... Shut up

If this is your assessment of these prospects why do you want them for a “franchise points leader on an O6 team”?

Probably cause you are trying to devalue them so Dallas will give up good prospects for a slumping forward on an O6 team.
If Kreider is that important please keep him. Not interested. Neither is Nill if it means sacrificing the future. Nill will not throw away valuable assets for hope. He has said he wants sustainable success not just the here and now.

Your assessment of both are severely off btw.

Chris Kreider for Lian Bichsel, Mavrik Bourque, Evgeni Dadonov, and a 2025 1st round pick
This would be an extremely big overpay by Dallas.

If anyone is not familiar with Dallas’ prospects (I know not all prospects work out)

Most Stars fans were disappointed Bichsel didn’t make the team out of camp (mostly due to signing Dumba).

Bourque won the AHL MVP last year at 22 years old. He’s being asked to play a fourth line role this year in Dallas.

Dadonov has 10 points this year. And is UFA this summer.

Hip surgery is 6 months recovery, when you factor the ~6 to 8 week time to get NHL game fitness ready and that's only if everything before it heals well. Sucks for seguin but there's no way he's back for playoffs.

Only way he might be available to play would be an early June return if the Stars make the Cup finals.

Have to assume this is a genuine season ending injury unfortunately.

Think Dallas has to assume he won't return and should add 2 fwds. Ideally a top 6 right wing, then a bottom 6 forward for injury depth.

I wonder if Matt Barzal would be available? Stars have a manageable cap going forward this year and in coming years.

Could Dallas get Barzal from the Isles? Give the isles a 1st round pick and top young player lile Borque or Bischel?
6-8 weeks just to get in game shape? wtf are you talking about

I can't see that divorce happening. Benn will re-sign at probably a very fair if not below market contract
Doubtful

Brutal break for Segs. Long road back from hip surgery, against all odds had steadily been getting better over the past 3 seasons despite being in his 30's and now this. Wish him all the best and hopefully he can make it back for the playoffs.

That said, this could be a godsend for the the Stars with Seguin on LTIR. (Especially if he comes back for the playoffs ala Stone/Kucherov).

What is available on the market for them? Maybe 5m and 5m split to shore of D + get a good replacement forward or put it all towards one big fish.

I already had the Stars as a top 3 cup favorite this year. Would be a waste if they squandered this cap space. They should be aggressive and do it sooner than later to avoid the bidding wars of TDL day.
Smells like Mogilny.
Seguin is donezo
