6-8 weeks just to get in game shape? wtf are you talking about

Doubtful

What do you think pre season are for? And why players work so hard in the off season?

Think they just go abra cadabra and can all of a sudden will full speed and power for 20 mins a night. No it takes several weeks.

What about Brock Nelson (50% retained) for Bourque + 2025 first? Think he’d be an amazing fit and is an extremely well rounded player. He hasn’t fallen off either since he’s playing just as the well as he has the past few years.

Stars are built to go in now, I doubt Krieder and Trouba have Dallas on their NTC List, therefore:

Krieder full at 6.5, Trouba at 3 retained @ 5, Vesey 800k for Dumba, Dadonov, and Bischel

Still gives you decent cap space for deadline adds, Krieder’s term protects you from all the UFA Fs next year.

Youre clueless

Not sure why Dallas would need the retention. I’m fine with parting with the 1st but not Bourque. Bourque and Bichsel should not be moved for rentals.

I do think Nelson would be a good target. He produces a ton and is underrated compared to the names out there. I would rather him over Kreider.

Worked for Buff and Kessel

I think that's pretty steep for a true rental. Bourque has had an adjustment period to the NHL, but he's also been playing down the lineup, still fresh off his AHL MVP season and has a first-round pick pedigree.

I'd move Bourque in a deal for Rasmus Andersson, but not Nelson.

I know Nelson is a true rental, but he would definitely be interested in resigning. Besides the fact I think that is the price for Nelson, but Bourque would have to be in the deal if we’re moving him. I think Nelson for Bourque and a conditional second (goes to first if Stars make WCF) would be fair and realistic.

I would rather move picks. I think it would be crazy to move Bourque or Bichsel for a rental. I’m not opposed to moving either of them just not for a rental. I’m also not buying the hope the rental resigns to drive up the price. Plus not sure Dallas wants to resign him. They have to pay Johnston and stankoven.

I can't see Nill trading both a 1st and Bourque, it's likely one or the other. IF it's a 1st is a mid level prospect especially if Nelson is a rental.

Hahaha, that is an absolutely ridiculous ask for a rental.

Erik karlsson could fit in nicely . Boosts the pp . On the last year of his contract . I think they could use a guy like him on the blue line to take the pressure off miro a little .

He has 2 more years at 10 million. That’s tough to fit for the next 2 years. How much is Pittsburgh retaining and what would the cost be?

He would help the offense and PP a ton though.

An Erik Karlsson trade will likely be formatted like:

  • Pittsburgh retains on Karlsson to bring his salary down to X.
  • Acquiring team sends Pittsburgh a bundle of multi-year bad contracts that are almost equal to X.
  • Therefore, acquiring Karlsson is close to cap neutral.
He doesn't have positive value in any other situation, especially because his NMC will stunt an chance for Pittsburgh to create a market for him.

The problem is that Dallas doesn't have any real bad contracts to subsidize Karlsson coming back.

Dubas needs to negotiate a "buyout-and-trade" in the offseason. As in, a buyout will cost Karlsson 1.815M. Karlsson gives a list of teams that he would agree to sign a 1 year 1.815M contract with contingent on Pittsburgh buying him out of his current contract. Pittsburgh then goes to those teams and sees what they would trade to Pittsburgh for Karlsson at 1 year and 1.815M. They agree on compensation for Pittsburgh buying Karlsson out of his current contract, then all parties execute their part (buyout, signing, trade compensation).

I can't see how that wouldn't be allowed if things like sign-and-trades to get the 8th year are allowed. I also can't see the NHLPA having a problem with it if the player is going to get the same or more in compensation as part of the scheme. Because Karlsson would have to be on board with the process, just like a player would be on board with a sign-and-trade.

Pittsburgh would have almost all of Karlsson's cap on the books, but that won't matter since they are rebuilding. Doing it this way, they might get an actual asset for him.

My bad. Idk why I thought it was his last year on his contract .

He has 3 years left, that's 3 cracks at winning an actual Stnaley Cup, you know, the things franchises build towards? Teams have poached players off the Rangers before and have won cups. Jim Nill is smart and both he and Drury can make good trading partners. Both of these teams make too much sense on paper not to do business especially with Seguin being shelved for the playoffs. Both franchises failing to move past the CF and hungry for something more.

You give you get in this league, just because you believe Kreider's value is low because NHL 25 Franchise Mode told you doesn't mean GM's in real life do too. He's a unicorn and he's not "declining". People like you believed Pavelski was declining.

You sound schizophrenic.

Well, the unicorn was just declared a healthy scratch against a divisional rival in a game that's prime time on a team that's 3-7-0 in their last 10.
