Brisson confirms that EP40 dealt with injury which prevented him from Off-season Training.

I really think they're going to move him. And we will have lost two top six centres for pennies on the dollar.

Danton Heinen
Phil Di Guiseppe
Max Sasson
Daniel Sprong
Nils Aman
Arshdeep Bains

122 games played this season for youuuuur Vancouver Canucks.

Noah Juulsen
Erik Brannstrom
Vinny Desharnais
Guilliame Brisebois
Mark Friedman

108 games played this season for youuuur Vancouver Canucks.

Three prospects in the whole orginization worth a damn in Lekkerimaki, Pettersson and Willander.

Three maybe's in the whole orginization worth a damn in Raty, Kudryatsev and Mynio.

This team had (has) holes and flaws everywhere.

Everyone bemoaned the timing of the original JT Miller trade because right player (was it ever) but wrong time. We had holes everywhere. Jt masked some with his above expected play but it was always the right trade at the wrong time.

Dont be angry we sold him for 4 quarters. We needed to to patch 4 orginizational holes.

Honestly, we need to do it again with Petey.

One dollar --> 4 quarters.

Then we're perfectly set to be in position for the PROPERLY timed Jt Miller trade.

Or maybe even two of them.

4 quarters dont equal a dollar when you're trying to get one of those pay walled shopping carts at superstore. Did you ever think about that?

If we were a shopping cart away from a cup winning pantry id be the first to advocate for gathering up OUR quarters to get a dolla and make shopping easier with that cart.

But just like when we first brought in JT Miller, we are not close to having a cup winning pantry so worrying about shopping carts today is silly.

We're way better off today but this is still a team with Goldobin, Granlund, Baertschi, Gudbranson and Derek Pouliot types on the 23 man roster.

I just listed 200 games played, this season, by absolute scrubs above.

If I posted a Pettersson, Chytil, Oconnor, Mancini for Miller, Fernstrom and dumps proposal a month ago everyone would laugh and ask where the top 6 center or prized prospect is.

Yet today, we're actually not a worse team and we gained valuable depth and cap room. Id venture to say we're potentially a better team today.

Meanwhile Miller has a busted wheel and is on the NY Rangers lot now and is their problem, IMO.

Think of the quarters Petey could get us.

You've now come to the point where the nuance in the argument erodes to: Mental make-up vs Injury.

Blind faith in management will lead one to view all contradicting information as storyboarding or narrative. The irony is that JR/Allvin's position of 'no injury' does not reconcile with the speed data, the lowered rush chances, Brisson and Pettersson's account of injury and Tocchet's admission on tendinitis. There's nothing but their word on the matter. Nothing.

Even the 'lack of preparation' comment by Allvin lines up with Pettersson not being able to train properly (Brisson).

Management's position is tenuous.

I wouldn't say its "blind faith" I have, I'm not just going to accept any old trade they make as sacrosanct just because they make it....but I'm willing to give them leeway since they know more than everyone else around here. I don't think they'd be keen on trading a legit #1 center if they didn't feel it necessary, and I don't believe they will, unless they feel it's necessary.

The people who want to sell Petey right now are the type who buy stocks at all-time highs and sell at the lows. The only way they should be trading Pettersson is if they believe the player he has been the past year is the player he will be going forward for the remainder of his contract and I don't see that as a likely outcome. Either he bounces back to normal sometime later this year or next season or he becomes the 1st player in NHL history to have their talent mysteriously zapped away by the Space Jam monsters. I'd bet on the bounce back.

Btw side rant, but I find the whole "How did they give this guy 11.6M narrative idiotic. (You hear Don Taylor whing about it all the time on Chek for example) Let's make one thing clear, The Canucks would have been absolute morons not to offer 11.6M to a 25-year-old C who had Draisaitl/MacKinnon/Kucherov numbers through his 1st six seasons. There was no reason to believe Pettersson would be producing so poorly like this. It's not like the Loui Eriksson or OEL deals where it was obvious the day it was made it was a blunder. And before people try to claim they knew Pettersson would be on pace for 50 pts this season, keep in mind you can bet on stuff like this, and Underdog Fantasy had Pettersson's preseason point over/under at 92.5... If you knew this was coming I would like to see some receipts with your life savings bet on it. Because a 50-point talent would have a 0% chance at 93 pts, it would be free money. Most are just complaining in hindsight.

"A boat is a boat. But a mystery box can be anything. It could even be a boat!"

Nah buddy im the one trying to sell the boat.

Its rated good for 11.6 knots, heck if all goes well it'll be a steal soon as inflation kicks in and the other boats start getting rated for 13-15 knots.

Its fresh off a 102 mile journey. Hell it basically carried a kayak to a 39 goal 75 point season and the kayak has since completly sunk without it!

She's a real beaut, and yes remarkably i'd accept four magic beans for it.

Id do this because I personally know even though its rated for 11.6 knots its only capable of 5.5. It'll never live upto the 11.6 knot billing.

Its got cracks in the hull. Severe ones. As I was building it in season one some finnish kid slipped and fell and bent some support beams.

Then there were other mishaps. A steering column broke but didnt require a mechanic, I only got 26 fishing trips in that season.

More hull injuries. Again, every time I never required a mechanic though. Fished 82 times last year never missed a day on the lake.

All the cracks dont show completely yet to everyone's eyes but they're there.

While its bluebook value is still incredibly consistently seen as a top of the line vessel, of which the likes are hardly available, im gonna try to flog it.

I know I probably am immedietly in the market for a top of the line vessel as soon as I sell this one and that is a risk im willing to take and a waitlist im willing to join.

Or maybe I hope for a sports bike in that mystery box. Forget boats down the middle of the lineup.

Maybe I build a team six Ducati's strong on the backend. Everyone's worried about boats but we're one RH Ducati away from a masterpiece on D.

The OEL comparison is a good one TBH.

A great player who fell off one day and nobody could truly explain why.

Holding onto him hoping that he would return to form would've been a huge mistake for the Coyotes.

In fact, they held onto him too long.

Anyway, that can't happen to Pettersson regardless. He has to be traded before the NMC kicks in. There's no room to "wait and see."

Because if we wait... and then we see... there's nothing we're going to be able to do about it if he doesn't improve.

Or the people who want to keep Petey are the type who hold stocks that crashed +90% in hopes that they will go back up. I know this way too well, unfortunately.

Petey has this fanbase divided because there was a time he was destined for beyond greatness.

10 goals in his first 10 games.

We will never forget that as a fan base.

And it seems half will never forgive either.

We want that always.

Some seem to believe that player is still in there.

Ive been around long enough to remember the Jason Allison and Joey Juneau types explode onto the scene with 100 point seasons before injuries crippled them.

There's like 50 Barry Pederson examples but one Jack Eichel that won the cup so thats the fear.

Hmm, would you rather be wrong by trading Petey and him them regaining his 100pt form or be wrong by keeping him and his NMC salary and him never regaining his past great form?

Which one would hurt more? Which one is a bigger risk to this org long term?

Here's the thing. We dont know anything.

Everyone wants to compare to Jack Eichel when this is a totally unique situation in itself.

I've spent a year freaking about about some imaginary deadline where a NMC kicks in without knowing if the dang thing even matters.

History, as everyone compares to Eichel, tells me we were literally on the wrong end of a year long OEL fiasco when truthfully, maybe Petey doesnt even care. Maybe he gives us a 30 team list just to gtfo of dodge.

Or maybe its Boston or Vancouver, ONLY like OEL.

Also, ive spent 6 seasons freaking out about career altering injuries when if im not mistaken, the dude hasnt actually gone under the knife, EVER.

Time off for the knee, time off for the wrist, more time off for the knee, more time off for the knee, plays 82 games, "cant train properly", yada yada.

We dont even know IF the dude is or has ever been injured.

We know nothing.

I can only watch him for the last year and a half and wonder.

At this point, as a watcher of everything he's done, its my bullship opinion that hes cooked due to injuries and a mental block in his head.

Its my uniformed opinion that contract, fans like me, and every Jpat and Farhan out there will literally drive this kid into the dirt in short order.

It would hurt ME as a fan more if we didnt trade him and we were stuck in a Arizona OEL situation.

Tomas Hertl is another example, albeit a bit older. But Petey put up 100 points once so anyone that isnt a superstar is a BS comparable to most fans.

^ also half jokingly but everyone loves posting stats like "Oh so Petey will be the first player in history to achieve this that and this before yada yada age only to fall off like no other player ever."

Uh yeah. We are all Canucks.

New here or..?

No, I know. You've made that painfully clear.

Like friend is there not an imaginary package, not consisting of a Petey back in return, that you could fathom to make us a better team or franchise.

Is it an automatic that we lose the trade?

I get at the time, Demelo, Norris and picks for EK looked bad on paper.

Is Josh Norris, Dylan Demelo, Tim Stutzle and two seconds just absolute garbage still to you though today?

Remind me, did that EK contract age well?

Did they end up retaining him again years later because he wasnt quite living upto that contract?

Did they get more later or nah?

Oh, 3 years later and it is Jan Rutta and Konsta Helenius to show for Demelo, Stutzle, Norris and two 2nds? Happened to pull a 1st for Granlund out of their arse to somewhat save face I guess.

But Eichel happened once so lets disregard every single other example readily available to us as fans.

Sorry for being on the trade him train though.

No, but the only guy I'd trade him for 1 for 1 is not available. If you make the 1 for 3 trade, you'll lose the trade.

That's why I kept telling people we were always going to lose the Miller trade. But it HAD to happen.

“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness; that is life.”

The first thing the coyotes fans told us on this board is OEL ever since his back injury (herniated disc) has not been the same.

Herniated disc f***ing sucks, source, me. I have it, I wake up with my leg numb and feels like my lower back is stuck every day.

My knee tingles when it's cold and dry outside. Then I get on the ice, and I have very little power in my stride anymore. It's sad, but manageable. But then again, I didn't learn to properly skate until I was f***ing 22.

Those shinny games we did back when were f***ing hilarious. Makes you appreciate what real talent can do, because I could hardly f***ing skate back then.

No, but the only guy I'd trade him for 1 for 1 is not available.

Its Brady isnt it.

Pettersson is 134rd in scoring, makes 3.5 mill more, is gutless and youd hold out for Brady wouldnt you.

Man we're so far beyond Brady 1 for 1.

Necas, Drury, 1st, 2nd also passed.

Cozens and Byram was the dream, gone.

Its gonna be Kirby Dach, Josh Anderson's corpse and picks broski hate to break it to you.

Actually, nope.

Very, very good target, though. If we could get him in a trade involving Boeser, I'd do it in a f***ing heartbeat. I have someone else in mind.

But then again, I no longer want to trade EP. If that player comes available, I'll take it tomorrow. It's impolite to tell people your birthday wishes.

Since when was cozens and byram the dream and who says that still isn’t available?

It was all a bit sarcastic and I shouldnt have assumed the poster meant Brady.

My point is there is a bunch of people for months now saying the "Eichel trade" is franchise suicide.

I posted earlier how the return was actually decent and literally everyone scoffed.

It has been verified, the Carolina offer was a little better than the Rantanen package.

Which was Necas, Drury, 2nd, 3rd, 4th..

Well isnt a little better, like Necas, Drury, 1st, 2nd?

And isnt that the darn Eichel package?

Tuch, Krebs, 1st, 2nd (sabres threw in a 3rd)

So half the Canucks fanbase thinks thats franchise suicide and yet the GM literally had that on the table and its the Canes who pivoted to Rantanen instead.

And in my opinion, even THAT trade is never available again.

Which brings me to Cozens and Byram. We dont need Bowen now so that parts dead, and there's no other quarters on Buffalo at forward to add upto our Dollar so yeah, imo also dead.

Plus our asset has only dimished by the day so..

Prepare yourselves Canuck fans. Its gonna be bad on paper. Kinda like the Sens package was for EK.

Five years later we're wondering if Norris could be had while we couldnt add to Petey to get Stutzle.

Sort of coming across as desperate to trade petey and I don’t think that’s the case.

He’s been bad for a year now and still retained the same value as last year. Miller got traded for basically the same offer as 2 years ago. Values rarely drop that quickly and another 27 games isn’t going to change it much.

Teams will also look at a 26/27 year old center who’s put up 100+ points and have interest.

Correlation =/= causation.
Dead last.

I had no idea there were people who didnt think that Tocchets system is bad for offence. Wasnt expecting to have to argue this point at all :D

Also Im not excusing Pettersson. So no need to argue that. Im just saying the system affects the counting stats of all our players. Including the lackluster start of Millers season.

If you are motivated to ignore this fact for some reason, I really cant help you.
