Funny this is the actions I remember were primarily pre-Internet. I think this Era has largely taken so much hate (and through decades) that it is expected.

The rush moves that really hit home to me are the Murphy boo'ing and bring back Wendel movement that cost us Lou
Jesus Christ, those were decades ago. Anything more recent? The only one I can recall is Dubas fans running Kadri out of town.

They are a result. There are many reasons a team can lose a series, and we have not repeatedly lost with this make-up. In fact, one could argue we haven't seen this make-up at all in the playoffs yet.

And this team missing the playoffs two years ago was what?

Covid bailed them out because the Panthers we're going to over take them and then they couldn't even win a play in tournament to make the official playoffs.

You usually associate analytics franchises with great asset management. We've torched every asset we have.

Anyone could have paid the 4 what they got it takes no skill at all.

This team has made 0 tough decisions since Dubas began. We're not even going to trade Riley for assets/ maybe an upgrade

Marner is getting a McKinnon and a Brodie worth of money

We mostly pick up dudes on the FA market from the Soo or Finland/ KHL

What is the point of having an Insanely high priced analytics and scouting department?

I think shanny is lucky masai is dragging out his renewal and mlse doesn't feel like dealing with two presidents at once

Trading Nylander now would be selling high but he is not going anywhere. The guy most likely to be moved is Rielly because he is a pending UFA and we need a PP QB, not to mention a true #1D.
Moving this core under this GM is a no go.
Changing the culture under this GM is a no go.

It’s going to take someone completely new who says our identity is a hard working, skilled, blue collar forecheck, etc. team.

Now, who is on board and trade those who aren’t.
Just like Bergeron stays, Chara stays, but Kessel, Hamilton etc go.

Attitude and identity.

Good analogy. Here's mine.

This fanbase orders onion rings, then immediately starts yelling into the kitchen telling the cook how to do his job, and finally throws them all over the floor in disgust because they hate the cook.

Leaf fans storm into Managements offices when they are negotiating player contracts, making trades? I assume you are referring to how people act on twitter, pretty sure Dubas interests are aligned with the people who use twitter as their outrage mob platform.

Maybe all they have to do is shuffle the lines a bit.

Kerfoot looked like a real player once he was paired with a real player.

marner was able to put up decent points with Bozak as his center.

Tavares has produced with everyone he's played with.

Add a replacement for Hyman.

Can you think of any reason why this would be. Was there anything this year in the regular season that seemed different.

Also, it's never Kyle's fault. We get it.

This keeps coming up and people just don’t get it.

The worst Canadian team was 20th in goal scoring. So that means all 7 Canadian teams were top 20 in goal scoring. It was a high scoring division and the Leafs were good defensively in that division.

How many other GMs across all sports have had to deal with a fanbase so irrational when it comes to their core players in their early 20s?

Well when you lose in the 1st round 4 times in 5 years and the other year miss the playoffs outright. That tends to happen.

It's infuriating that Dubas really is going to go forward with the same shit and expect a different result. How do we fastforward through another season and just get to the other side where we fire this bozo?

This is a great post! You hit the nail squarely on the head!

What is your suggestion?

Tavares has a NMC, going no-where.

Everyone else can be moved.

Who would you move and for what?

sorry, but this is ridiculous. Winning a 5 game playoff series is much harder than making the playoffs as the #13 team in the league by the 70th game

Give it a rest! The Habs got where they did because of a) Carey Price and b) game management by the refs to the nth degree come playoff time....in every series, not just theirs. Not because Ben Chiarot and Jon Merrill are the second coming of Larry Robinson and Guy Lapointe.
No, the problem is that the playoffs are on a whole other level, which most competent management teams are aware of, so they build their team accordingly. There is no way on God’s green earth that a skilled but lightweight team will ever hoist the Cup, especially with half the cap spent on 2 centers and 2 wingers.

Dubas is sticking with what hasn't worked and trying to squeeze that square peg into that round hole come hell or high water.

He may sign or trade for some marginal players, but the changes go way beyond adding a player or two. The problem is the core group. Marner can't perform under pressure, he plays scared. It's like he's night and day when the games are actually important. Even Matthews has been trash the last two seasons when the games have mattered most.

I'll still watch, because I love the Leafs, but my expectations aren't like they were last season, they are now zero.

I don't think anybody is asking Dubas to make panic moves and luckily Dubas is not one to make them. The cap is predicted to be flat for up to the next 5 years. If you paid 4 forwards 1/2 because you expected the cap to rise on a yearly basis, to not even entertain changing course now is nuts. As Scotty Mac said this a.m., the ship is sailing straight towards an iceberg and Dubas is not steering around it.
Let's not kid ourselves, we've read some ridiculously questionable hot takes.

Dubas is leaning into the core and facing criticism head on. For all the complaints people have about him, it's a brave (potentially stupid) move.

I'd be moving Marner personally.

We were three points ahead of the Panthers with them having a game in hand and weren't playing well.

There's a solid chance in a normal year we miss the playoffs. We got bailed out because covid stopped the season and didn't even take that gift.

Actually edit: we were tied with the jackets and canes for the second wild card so we could have possibly been 10th in the East by the time it was done.

How is this successful team building

Well I didn't say the Leafs would have 100% made the playoffs in a normal year, but their chances were a lot better than they were in a series against Columbus

I'm not sure what some are expecting him to say?

He doesn't trust the core players but he's stuck with them and isn't in a good bargaining position with other teams.

"I'm looking to dump player-x, I don't think he performs well under pressure."

He signed these guys, maybe overpaid on some, but even if you reduce marner's salary to $9mm cap hit would that make him play better?

Take that extra $2mm and sign a Holl level defenseman?

At this point term is irrelevant and shouldn't impact performance.

He signed them, but he didn't draft them. His drafts really start with Sandin.
