Most to blame for the loss?

It’s more the pk where he’s missed the most. If we don’t get karlsson the pk needs to be the focus of the deadline.
I think the PK's biggest issue is the coaching.

Players look like they have zero clue what to do out there.

Ceci played almost 25mins tonight, Barrie almost 20... Both were playing well below 20 when we were going 11-7..

Also, there has not been a single game played by VD where he was a minus player... So until he struggles he deserves the praise.

'spanked' by elite competition has yet to happen..
He plays on average 1:30 a game against elite comp and gets heavily out shot in that time. He deserves praise but he isn’t our best defender.

We're a team that has McDavid and Draisaitl and Nurse and you're ecstatic thinking 3 out of 4 points were something wonderful?

F@#k....it hurts not getting 4 out of 4 points.
Seeing as the Rangers are a better team than the Oilers, yeah….

You must be one of those guys that thinks they’ll win every game.

Jesus this board is stupid sometimes

Fun fact: Toronto pays Matthews and Marner more money than McDavid and Draisaitl and their GM figures out ways to keep adding players to the roster and ice a full roster. Amazing I know.
The coach is riding Mcdrai into the ground….he really doesn’t have much choice though…poorly constructed team…highest paid gm in the league can’t build a team around the league’s two best players.

Not gonna lie…I haven’t watched the last few games. I’m pretty apathetic at this point

I actually expected a regulation loss after the dumb move made today (compounded by Kostin being sick right before), so am thrilled they only choked one point away
Yeah, lost in all this post-game angst is that they continue to collect points despite losing 4 of their past 5 games. These OT/SO losses are the difference between 2 and 5 points out of a possible 10.

It's no fun losing in extra time, but avoiding regulation losses is the key factor in the modern NHL.

Up 4-1 in the second period, gets a chance to put things away on the PP and end up letting in a shorthanded goal.. that was it.. Oilers barely had a shot in regulation after that point.. PP had 2 goals but had 2 chances to put the game away and blew it

He did bring in hyman and kane... but the rest is poo poo
I refuse to give him credit. McDavid brought in Barrie and I'd guess Hyman as well. Kane came because it was the best chance to maximize his next contract.

The few things that have senile Holland's fingerprints on them are the Nurse extension, the Campbell anchor, and the AA trade debacle.

Doesn't mean much.. he passes the eye test very easily.. I don't have access to the fancy stats but can bet that his zone starts in offensive zone would be minimal.

Kane was a fluke, the hockey gods probably got tired of watching McDavid/Drai having no help and went "hey lets gift them a freebie 30-40 goal scorer by having his wife make up phony allegations on Instagram and getting his contract voided".

Yup when the going gets tough the Oilers go away.

First PK goal against that went straight through Ceci isn’t going by Desharnais. That’s not to mention Bouchard getting constantly shit on when he was dubiously continually thrown out for d zone draws.

Good thing we had Yamo/Pulju playing instead. Solid roster and lineup management.

It makes up for the games earlier in the season where they were down in a game and failed to tie up that people were annoyed about

The OT strategy needs to change. Go with Mcdavid and Hyman, follow with Nuge and Drai. Or swap it, but the McDrai magic is over, you could give them a shot late if things line up. The 3x3 has been effectively killed as teams just playa soccer possession game for as long as they can.
I'd go Nuge, Hyman, Kane to start. Who had "the paralyzer" move...Hendricks?

All the cup winners in the last bunch of years all won because they had a great defenseman on their team. Letang, Keith, Makar etc I can go on and on. EDM needs Karlsson. in the worst way because they aren't winning with this defense. lol
They aren’t winning with this defense period and I don’t think adding Karlsson changes that. They can’t prevent the other team from scoring goals. They’ll score more goals with Karlsson but they’ll still have the same problem. They’re so bad defensively they’ll just keep giving up one more than they get. Games like tonight where they blow a 3 goal lead highlight what this teams problems really are. It’s not offence, we’re the highest scoring team in the league. We need defensive D men.
