That sucks....hate when stuff breaks like that.

Knock on wood, my 2011 plasma is still kicking. IT's got some dead lights, but still functions really well.
Mine will randomly have a big blue strip vertically down one side, about an inch thick. But it isn't always there.

As long as it doesn't get worse I'll keep this thing around for as long as possible.

Any of you lads play Metaphor and if so, how is it?
Also, if yes: Have you also played P4G (persona 4 golden)?
If yes to both:
How is it compared to P4G? as it is the only persona.... well no scratch.... the furthest I've ever gone in a persona game and thus most familiar.

I won't even call it by its full name, but speaking of Romulus,
what an absolute nothing waste of time of a mess.
Worst part is me being stuck having to watch something I'd have turned off after 20 minutes or not watched at all.
1 hour of teenagers mouthing off in a efff **** ef ef efffff this and that tedium of nonsense painful dialog between people I couldn't have literally cared less to listen to.
20 minutes of an alien, and guess what... for all the talk how 'complete' and 'unstoppable' they get wiped out pretty quickly, and pathetically.
20 minutes (or less) of the coolest baddy, guess what... wiped out by the unstoppable main two characters in the most ridiculous and just plain laugh out loud absurd way possible.
end.

I mean.... wow.... that is what I get for putting myself into a situation where people watch a hollywood produced, bin worthy product.

I'm one of the last people to use words like "woke" or whatever, but what BioWare is doing to the Dragon Age franchise is exactly what's wrong with the world today. They (the developers/writers) care more about pronouns and making sure every character looks as ugly as possible than they are about making sure the story is great and the game is fun.

OG The Office is the goat. But the US version is right there with it.

Other versions are just...

giphy.gif

The Australian one is awful. I think if you're going to do a version, change it up and not try to make the same type of characters the same. Carrell and his Scott and Gervais and his Brent worked for that time and era but it needed to change up, maybe make that type of character someone else. I tried to give it 4 episodes but it was just so cringey. Even 3 episodes was giving it too much time. It is really that awful.

There are times when being diverse makes sense and when it really doesn't matter. In a fantasy game, you should probably focus more on the game play, story, and graphics and then if the stuff you want to add like that, organically fits that world, I don't give a shit. But when it's forced, never a fan.

That's my issue. It's forced. And it detracts from the actual quality of the rest of the game.

It's one thing to be "inclusive" if it makes sense within the story or if it doesn't hurt the quality of every other feature. It's another when the entire game's story and characters seem to be built around it.

Apparently one of the companions literally introduces themselves to you upon your first meeting as "I identify as non-binary". Because that's such a natural first thing to say to someone you literally just met.

Yeah that's just really weird game dialogue to have. And in a fantasy world no less where first off is usually always set in some fantasy version of medieval times. In that time no one was going around saying I'm straight or anything. So the need to even go there is someone at the company trying to force their narrative when it's entirely not needed.

It's like when someone tells you they're vegan or celiac and no one asked.

I haven't played any of their games but I want to. I will say the Metaphor setting seems more my style. I may look into it after I beat the new Zelda.

Echoes of Wisdom or Tears of the Kingdom?
Having two zelda titles in the span of under a year (without looking up release dates) is a bit unique.
I guess maybe one game you play link helping zelda and the other you play zelda helping link, so... :dunno:

Easiest game of all time.

It's interesting that they went chibi but like you said, it got turned around in about a year. Given the overwhelmingly positive response insofar as I've seen I don't think it'd be surprising if they decided to sink effort into a full Zelda-led game in that BOTW/TOTK style.
It’s certainly not hard, but I don’t think it hurts it. It actually even has a hard mode option that I haven’t touched. I am happy to have occasional games where I can explore and adventure but not have to really try that hard. I feel like it’s just punishing enough that I can’t just ignore boss mechanics, but never needs 100% effort in combat either.

I love BotW but I’ll be honest, I strongly prefer top down Zelda.

I honestly prefer the OOT/MM/WW/TP/SS style over the open-world and top-down.

We are thinking of getting a Switch for the 6 yr old. Are there any recommendations for that age range or is it too young?

I believe the answer is "yes there are games for kids that age" but I don't recall what they are. This question, I'm assuming, has been asked on Reddit. Heck, maybe even in the Switch thread:

No doubt tinged by nostalgia but OOT remains probably my favorite game of all time. I'm late to the Switch, the fam got me one for Father's Day this year and BOTW to go with and I have played the shit out of it. Mostly because I haven't yet got TOTK. But it's given me plenty of hours of enjoyment but I'd agree with your sentiment here.

Speaking of OOT, have you ever looked at the list of games that came out in '98? Right off the back you have OOT, Half Life, MGS 1. Baldur's Gate. What a year.

So MCU still won't outright just say it but that Blade movie is never happening, put on hold indefinitely and Mahershala Ali was already pissed off about it to begin with, so either they add him in a movie as Blade and do his solo movie later or I am betting that lawsuit he already has going with them will just have him get out of it altogether. I think that Deadpool movie kind of screwed Ali, they're probably going to just bring back Snipes I'd wager.

I think it'd be cool if he was cast in Gunn's Superman movie as Martian Manhunter. Gunn was teasing big plans for that character.

It's a shame he turned down the role of James Gordon for the Reeves Batman movies, Jeffrey Wright as a second choice is insane, to have one amazing actor turn it down only for an equally amazing actor to take it on.

I recently watched Transformers One.

Not really sure about the choices they made for the voice actors but the story itself, they adapted a lot of cool stuff from the IDW comics but then missed the mark for a lot more, they went far too goofy with the stuff and there’s more than enough comic books out there to adapt a great story line - War Within would have been the go to for me for the first movie.

It felt too clownish, they just went too much for the comedic stuff. I felt like Mario Bros nailed it with their adaptation for a video game vs this being a comic book. I don’t get why they were afraid to go a little darker like they should for this story, so many other movies for little ones that also aim at nostalgia for parents, figure out a better balance.

Just watched m knight shyamalan’s Trap. Silly fun thriller. Hartnett is just a fun actor. It’s mostly the right amount of over the top to know it’s having fun with tropes while still taking itself overall seriously. Should be like 10-20 minutes shorter though and it’s not even that long.

Gotta respect m knight for making a whole ass movie so his daughter can put in a concert movie. That’s just a baller move.

Solid 3/5 stars.

Skipped most of the movie and made it an interesting 15-20 minute better version than the 90+ minute slog that was transformers one. Celebrity voices killed it. Turning the franchise into a 12-14 year old level movie was a terrible choice. Terrible choices are what these movies excel at.

Expected a change from the bore of the last five + big budget nothings, got the same if not worse than the live-action.
Then I saw the credits, bay, spielberg, di ventura or who even cares... same old jokers just get another chance to destroy the franchise and make a joke of it.
How many times can they re-start the story before people stop paying money and precious time to these laughing all the way to the bank clowns.

ADD:
Just read your post. Yes, everything you said plus a lot more is wrong with it.
Voices alone ruined it.
These people love to ruin stuff.

I may have to look into Echos of Wisdom, that was one I dismissed pretty immediately as not being interested. I tried Link’s Awakening and couldn’t get into it, so I was thinking Echos of Wisdom wouldn’t work for me either. But if it’s good it could be worth looking into.

I just bought Metroid Prime Reloaded and I think that’s going to be my next switch game. I’ve also been feeling really nostalgic for Pokémon but I’ll probably just use an emulator for that, I don’t want to repurchase Scarlet or Violet. They apparently never really fixed most of the bugs in the game when it was released 2 years ago.
