Yeah they're literally just in the way when you try to walk up and down the aisles and it's the most bush league crap ever. Nobody even reacts to the signs.

I'm pretty sure in 2012 (in addition to the whole red alert thing) they also introduced smoke machines above the glass behind the net for goals and they brought back the full retro goal horn for the first game against Florida.

Now that they don't even put the cup graphic on the ice under the blueline, there's really zero difference in the feel from an in-arena experience perspective between a regular game and the playoffs.

To add a positive comment into everything I did think the lights added to all the stairway rails was a nice touch to make it look different form the regular season. Looks super cheap though cause they are just zip tied but beggars can't be choosers lol

The league stopped doing the playoff graphic because now they can super impose ads on the ice in those spots. I don't mind crapping on the organization when needed but that's a league thing.

I know that. I wasn't blaming the organization for removing the playoff logo, I was saying when you couple that with the fact that the organization really hasn't done much else to create a playoff atmosphere, there's not much that feels different from an experience perspective than the regular season.

They spent like a million dollars on that on ice projector and they basically gave up on using it to do anything fun/cool. I remember the first year the ice broke away to show hell and fire.

Idk if it broke or they just don't have someone who can program properly or they just don't care but yeah the opening could have been a lot bigger to me as well.

I said it in the game day thread but the only positive thing I had to say about Tuesday was it was almost entirely Devils fans around me and only a few rangers fans and nobody was actually obnoxious around me. Hope it's the same tonight in that regard.

Found this so it just seems like they got lazy/don't know how to program cool things into it currently...

That's pathetic. Idk who they let go of that was in charge of pregame graphics / presentation / atmosphere 4+ years ago, but whoever they have now should be out of a job.

I was thinking about this in the game against Buffalo and how they seemingly stopped using it

Whatever this free pregame buffet is on that little alleyway in 125-130 they had a decent spread tonight lol, chicken fingers, penne and mozzarella sticks. I think it’s a new sth recruiting thing but they don’t seem to be particular who goes in there, at least after warmups

The resale market held better than game 1 but more away fans entered the building last night. Nothing else to say just a depressed how this week has gone.

So if I understand this:

1. The split was 70/30 or 65/35 and pretty much the same both games?
2. The Devils 'messed up' the ticket sales by:
A. Allowing only full STH the ability to buy games at discount, and allowing them to get x +4 amount.
B. Making partial and non STH pay market price, which they jacked up?

Essentially they were trying to use the bait of this first round to get more STH?

The only thing I don't understand, why would demand be so low and there not be more Ranger fans? Did the amount of STH brokers reduce retail demand?

Personally I find this whole topic tiresome. Unless the secondary market has major changes to the entire industry which I don't see it happening you're basically always going to be able to get into a building as long as you're willing to pay.

Prices most likely were prohibitely high. Team sold individual tickets at secondary market prices which kept the market high.

Not everyone wants to drop that kind of money to sit in the nosebleeds surrounded by opposing fans

Split was 85-15 game 1, 65-35 game 2.

I was at both too and agree, game 2 just looked worse as the game went on cause people said f*** it and left.
I was part of the "f*** this" and left crowd! Would have gone to MSG if tickets were the same as here or at least close. Sucks we had next to no fnas last night. It was like 1994. 65-35 for game two would be my guess. Last night 150 Devils fans buried in a sea of porta-pottie blue. They will always have the more fans bragging right. It really shouldn't bother us as much as it does. Winning makes it much easier to digest. We have a strong fanbase that you see traveling good now. We're kinda Like Buffalo now when they were good and still Toronto hi-jacked their building a few times per year. Yeah and Buffalo is up and coming.

This is the main reason I so rarely go to road games, if they setup visiting team sections like soccer I would go to so many more road games.

I actually have never had a bad experience at a road game (and have been to MSG and Philly, among others). Granted, I have never been to a playoff game at either of those venues. My experience with Devils vs. Rangers game in NJ (even in regular season) is that it brings out the worst elements of both fan bases ... which (along with the absurd pricing) encourages many Devils sths to dump their seats for those games.

You can get in the arena for $40 if you play your cards right. It'll be standing room wherever you can, but you'll be there.

If I thought there were more than 17 people reading this thread I wouldn't say anything, but, how much do you think those security guards make?

Has anyone been able to get parking in the BMW lot twice ? I got the email after filling out the form quickly the first time last month. Now I'm unable to get the email despite trying multiple times. Thanks.

Resale for 200s cheapest I've seen for this series. Lowest is $176.
How is that possible for Game 5 at 2-2?! Are people really that obsessed with the draft (and it’s insane wall to wall coverage) or just gunshy over the Devils home struggles after the first two games?

The Giants pick is likely taking place after the game ends too, barring OT

I think it's more people saving money for a game 6/7. If you can only choose 1 game to go to you might hold out for a potential series clincher.

My take is that Rangers fans aren't feeling too confident after the last 2 games and are hesitant to buy for this one. On the Devils fan side, we had thousands of Devils fans pay high prices for game 1 and 2 only to get laughed out of the building by Rangers fans, so I'm guessing they aren't eager to pay top dollar and risk heartache again.

People always talk about attendance numbers but you really need to also factor in pricing for context. This game could very easily be a sellout if the team wasn't trying to maximize revenue. These ticket prices are heavily inflated and, possibly for the reasons I stated above, they just aren't selling as well. Even if they don't sell out this game, they are making way more money than a sellout at regular season prices, and the front office seems to be okay with that.

But then why would resale prices be higher for a Game 1 or especially Game 2 by that logic?

It wouldn’t surprise me if Colin was right and both fan bases just have a degree of shell shock right now lol, although I do think the mega interest in anything NFL is a factor.

Intital excitement coming in for the playoffs for the first time in 5 years and like @Colin226 said, people who might have spent hundreds of dollars on those two games and got burnt really bad with those performances might not be itching to drop more money on a game 5 and are either waiting for a game 7 or possibly next round games which will most likely be cheaper.

Also not the most family friendly series between the prices, having to deal with opposing teams fans and a 7:30pm weekday start too. I can see a lot of families of 4 or more skipping this round entirely.

Personally I go but I don't enjoy the environment at all of being anywhere near visiting teams fans and wish they were all stuck in a few visiting team sections and not allowed anywhere else so I totally get people not wanting to spend money on this series.

I really can't speak to the NFL stuff, I don't watch, gun to the head couldn't even tell you who won the superbowl without googling it.

I don't get the draft stuff at all, I've never enjoyed the nhl draft and usually just dvr and fast forward to see who the Devils pick and hope the guy I know nothing about plays well lol
