But then why would resale prices be higher for a Game 1 or especially Game 2 by that logic?

It wouldn’t surprise me if Colin was right and both fan bases just have a degree of shell shock right now lol

Other than STHs (who bought at very low prices), I am not sure that there are a lot of people buying tickets to multiple games at these prices ... and because sths also bought extras at prices well below the current levels, there are a ton of seats in the secondary market ... which can move at even-lower prices with the sth not taking a loss.

I actually think if the series were 3-1, you would see higher prices ... especially if the Devils were up 3-1 ... if the Rangers were up 3-1, you would probably have so many Devils fans selling their tickets that it might keep prices to a more reasonable level.

I don’t like the 730 starts on weeknights either (especially in the playoffs with the possibility of OT), but I’d think that would be more of a draw to the people who can’t get to Newark by 7. Then again the first two games everyone was at least around the arena insanely early so fans are probably just too lazy to get there by 7 for a regular season game :sarcasm:

I hate the 7:30 starts, really happy we didn't get either of the 8pm starts but I'm also not that far from the arena and have no issues getting there for a 7pm game.

A lot of Rangers fans are Knicks fans too fwiw, and all of a sudden things are exciting for them with a second round series against a team who’s not the Bucks, Celtics or Sixers

And what’s this talk on it not being a sellout. I see a few dozen box office seats remaining, the rest are “resales” which will have butts in the seats like the first two games.

I think we just assume that if it's entire rows available via resale, it's really just the team or their broker selling them given how STH were limited in the quantity they could buy.

I will say there were 2 or 3 solid rows of resale seats in section 10 for game 2 that were still listed a couple hours before the game, and I was sure nobody would buy them given the price and amount of time left before the game, but sure enough they were completely filled. So I guess a fair number of people wait until the last minute to buy their tickets, and the big rows up for resale will probably sell.

My take is that Rangers fans aren't feeling too confident after the last 2 games and are hesitant to buy for this one. On the Devils fan side, we had thousands of Devils fans pay high prices for game 1 and 2 only to get laughed out of the building by Rangers fans, so I'm guessing they aren't eager to pay top dollar and risk heartache again.

People always talk about attendance numbers but you really need to also factor in pricing for context. This game could very easily be a sellout if the team wasn't trying to maximize revenue. These ticket prices are heavily inflated and, possibly for the reasons I stated above, they just aren't selling as well. Even if they don't sell out this game, they are making way more money than a sellout at regular season prices, and the front office seems to be okay with that.
No way that they'll announce anything but, a sellout.

Seems like more Ranger fans tonight than the first two games, so much for the theory the cheaper the secondary market the better

From where i was sitting, (100 balcony), I was thinking it was at least 80% Devils fans.

Those prices are close to doable for me, but no one I know would be available to join me (or pay their own way)

So have to wait until round 2
I'm deffenilty flirting with going tommorow even as a solo. With what's on the line I expect a noticeable amount of Devils fans. Only thing NYR have going is Iglor's 3rd period in which we dominated and kept them scoreless. Just like their fans they have to have some doubts and our Devils can pounce on them again.

I'm not sure the kinds of people who are willing to shell out 250-700 for playoff hockey tickets are the types to stay home and watch the NFL draft. I mean, you can watch your teams pick on your phone while at the game if you're really all about it.

I pulled the trigger and talked a Bruins fan friend of mine into going, but I would've went alone as I think there's going to be a bunch of us.

Good thing Jack and I have made the Devils his #2 so he'll be decked out in proper gear.

Ticket prices for game 7 are insane. $349 face value for the worst seat. Also seeing huuuuge rows of “resale” tickets (so obviously the team) being sold for crazy prices well above face value around the building. Regardless of what happens in game 7, the team made a ton of money off these 4 playoff home games.
