Thanks for the tip. I found nice airbnb in Jersey City and that might be one possible option, though I haven't made any reservation yet. But right now it would be either hotel in lower Manhattan or airbnb in Jersey City / Hoboken.

Most likely I would be there to see 25th, 27th and 30th games. March 27th is against Islander @ UBS arena. Any preffered method to get there? Path to Ny Penn Station -> LIRR to Jamaica Station -> Event day speacial train to UBS arena? and reversed when returning? Game starts 7.30pm and it would be quite late when returning... would that be a problem? Mainly in safety perspective..?

I haven't been to UBS Arena and I'm not too familiar with LIRR but I definitely don't think you'd have an issue regarding safety. Going to the game you'll be with a lot of people traveling home from work. Getting back to NJ after the game should also be fine, just don't stay out too late after the game because trains may stop at some point close to or after midnight. If you really got stuck you'd just have to take an expensive Uber ride.

It sounds like you know how to get there, though it could be slightly faster if you're staying in downtown Manhattan to catch the train at Atlantic in Brooklyn. That's also a great area to hang out in (5th Ave) after the game if that's what you're looking for.

As far as safety is concerned

It's trains to and from JC/Hoboken/Manhattan/Belmont. Generally speaking you'd have to do something pretty dumb at those hours to get into real trouble.

Enjoy your stay, this area is the best.

Thanks :) I have now booked the airbnb, flights and game tickets. I used tickpick and already got Devils vs Sens. Still waiting transfer of those Devils vs Rangers and Isles.

I got the airbnb from JC. It's one block away from Grove street PATH station.

Great location. You'll have a blast.

Pro tip: the PATH train runs 24 hours but you're going to want to get the app as it can be a 30-40 minute wait late at night.

While you're at it download the MTA apps for real time subway and LIRR schedules. NJ Transit one is solid as well if you plan on going down the shore or something.

So thanks to this absolutely horrendous bullshit law put into place we have to put our SSN into Ticketmaster exchange so we can be so graciously blessed with filling out a 1099 bs tax form going forward.

Now my question is does anyone know if we decide to take seller credit instead of a payout if we still have to fill out these forms? I started listing some of my Devils tickets for games that I know I can't make and was wondering if this was maybe a way to avoid it since I always renew anyway so I don't have any issue with just putting the credit over to next season if it gets me out of this bs.

Also I notified a few of our local representatives to let them know my feelings on this since it's the only thing we can do.

I'm more annoyed at this because there was absolutely nothing wrong with the previous limits of 200 transactions and 20k. That's something that should be considered a small business for profit. Not us Devils season ticket holders who can barely sell the vast majority of the games for face value.

Here's the other thing, now for example if we take a loss on games do we get to deduct that from these overall taxes? Sure I might have made $100 bucks selling that Rangers game but when that just balances out to make up for the losses I made trying to sell midweek games for Arizona, Vancouver and Dallas it's nonsense.

I normally attend almost every game so this isn't normally an issue for me but I have a schedule that doesn't line up well this season so I have to sell more than normal but even still our shit country has now made life more difficult for people who are simply just trying to recoup what they spent. We aren't all big f***ing ticket scalping companies.

Speaking of that too we also pay a full price, just say $2k for an entire season, since I pay a lump sum and not per individual game can we just divide $2k by 44 games to balance out the games we lose money more on or we have to go into the account and write down every bullshit arbitrary value they gave to each game because of variable pricing. Plus we have to reduce the fees that Ticketbastard charges us for selling the tickets.

This whole thing is so unnecessary and won't do shit to reduce the massive debt our government has.

My rant is over, f*** this law.

I've been watching this guy's channel recently and he really nails some off the beaten path Newark restaurants and parks.

I love you Hobby's, but Cooper's is banging as well.

Both JJ and Tony's hot dogs I can attest are legit.

I'm aware many of these places aren't near the arena, but most of you have cars and/or can afford cabs when you're in town.

I'd like to submit a bunch of these entries to the op.

Hey…I have season tickets to 5 different teams and I sell a ton of games. I asked my accountant about this recently and I was told that you get taxed on the overall number at the end of the year. So if I spend 75,000 a year on season tickets and show 80,000 in ticket sales I’m getting taxed on 5000. You’ll get a 1099 from every site you sell over 600 dollars worth. I sell on multiple sites (stub hub, Ticketmaster, vivid, TickPick, ticket evolution). I’m definitely selling over 600 on each of those sites but for someone who has one set of tickets if they sold on multiple sites they might be able to get under 600 a few times on some of the sites. Hope this answers some questions for you.

Thanks, that's interesting, I only have Devils and Red Bulls season tickets but since I go to the majority of the games then I most likely wouldn't be taxed at all if what he says is correct since I absolutely don't sell and make more than what I spend. For example if I spend 3k in season tickets for both teams and then only sell 1k in tickets then I wouldn't be charged at all. I hope that's correct cause while this is still a pain in the ass it does make the most sense.

Correct. You’ll still get a 1099 if you sold the 1000 dollars worth all on Ticketmaster but you would show a receipt for 3000 spent on tickets. So it would be a loss of 2000. not a profit of 1000. Now if you sold 500 on stub hub and 500 on Ticketmaster you shouldn’t get a 1099 at all.

Thanks its a shame they made this so unnecessary for so many people. If they wanted to tax people who do this as a side business they could have at least lowered the threshold from 20k and 200 transactions to 10k and 100 transactions.

I have some friends who are into pearl jam and just selling their tickets back for face value now will get the 1099 cause of it. At least of they put the threshold at something reasonable it would have avoided unnecessary paper work for a lot of people and the IRS.

I've never been to a preseason game but going to hit up the first home one next week are the food stands in the lounges open for a preseason game?

I've never sat there for a pre-season game but I would assume they should be but maybe someone else can confirm.

If you’re talking about the club level, then yes I believe it’s the full food offering.

As earlier discussed i am planning on buying half a season pass. Someone said here that when i negotiate for the pass then i should ask for all kinds of offers whether it be some snack vouchers or similar.

I was thinking of buying the black 3rd jersey jersey. Anyone got any experience in getting a discount for the jersey if you buy it together with a season pass?

Also, any indication what a half a season cheapes pass would go for? Even a full season one for reference, thanks.

I'm not sure when it comes to a half season but with the full season they give you a card to get 20% off in the store, even with the 20% off so many things are way overpriced. Almost 40 bucks for a t-shirt is ridiculous to me.

I'm really not sure what the half plan prices cost cause that really is dependent on where you are looking to sit. Just make sure you are clear with them that the half season you are looking for is from October to when you're going back because their half season plans usually means half the amount of games throughout the entire season.

Ah, thanks thats a good point on the meaning of half a season plan. I suppose 20% off on the jersey would already be nice, still very pricy.

That was me. The only experience I have in regards to merch is getting an overall discount.

But these reps will jump through hoops if you haven't already purchased and/or are kinda on the hook for next season.

I came into this thread just to post that my boy just grabbed me a seat in the 3rd row for opening night for free because of his sth status.

So yeah, they look out if you play the game right.

Noticed they are building 4 different things in the black club seats in sections 7/9/18/20. No clue what they are though, maybe some sorta suite type deal inside the clubs? Didn't really look like anything yet.

Yeah, they definitely look like new suite/premium options.

It's the way major league sports as a whole is going. Teams can generate similar [or even more] revenue with fewer seats but more "premium experiences." Really had a nice time in the Loft seats last night. I can see why corporate partners (or, to be blunt, wealthy fans) like that shit.

Love it or hate it, more premium options = more corporate partners = more revenue (and maybe even a fuller-looking building if the team doesn't stink as areas that were formerly general seating are eliminated).

Oh, this warrants a double post:

New sound system in the building is incredible. I gotta assume that was installed before the VMAs.

The arena's entire audio/video setup has basically been upgraded in the last few years.

If you think Harris doesn't care or invest in the organization's infrastructure and the building, well, that's a personal problem at this point.

I did notice some new larger video screens on the concourse too

I did happen to notice last night that they added some video screens to the concourse which is nice, definitely needed some additional decor as some walls looked bare.

Even better, it looked like all of the concession stands were opened up in the upper level which is also a pleasant sight. I'm hoping the arena is back to running full speed this year!

I'm a little salty that Seton Hall's retired jerseys hanging outside sections 21/22 by the Ford display and concourse Devils Den where the ceiling drops down were replaced by screens. Outside of Terry Dehere being included in the giant mural outside sections 7/8/9 there seems to not be a single mention of the Rock's #2 tenant anywhere on the concourse. :/

Although at the end of the day I get to watch my alma mater play under Devils banners and the Devils play under Seton Hall banners so I probably shouldn't complain, and I'm happy that they moved the 1991 Big East banner in the rafters to the other end to make them symmetrical, for my OCD, haha.
